When those cats crashed Taj Mahal’s gig I’m sure he was more than happy to oblige. Taj is a great performer. I had the privilege of running monitors for him at a festival.
"Bob Dylan asked me to sing Proud Mary - Holy Mackerel" says John at the beginning of Proud Mary - and then "Tina, eat your heart out" at the end of it - acknowledging Taj Mahal 's contribution, ha,ha. Love it.
My exact sentiments. That was the first person I thought of every time he piped-in on Proud Mary. "That reminds me of some Yoko Ono primal screaming right there!" Sadly, it happened during the first time John had sang the song publicly in 15 years.
I have to think that this show , the Roy Orbison black and white night show and The dead and all mama together at Watkins glen festival are the best shows ever by am all star line up
Where the he'll did this come from and why have I not seen it this blows me away rock Royalty playing in a bar how could you get any better you got bob and George pumping down the rhythm and Jessie Ed Davis and john forgery and Mahal unbelievable what year is this? Anyone know
There's no bigger fan and historian of music than Bob Dylan. He seen Buddy Holly on his last tour weeks before he died. He had a radio show called Bob Dylan theme time radio he played every genre known to man. Off course he's having fun music is his life.
Fogerty tells the story in his biography that during an early Berkeley bar gig they used to play Blue Suede Shoes to amuse themselves because it always started a fistfight in the crowd
...................There we go 2:31....................... Dylan said to John start singing that song otherwise People think Tina Turner composed it !? Oh lord 6:23 fecking great !
MarshTube82 To watch and listen to Jesse Ed Davis is the only reason I have put up with this crap. Sorry I didn't see much of him. IMO, he was a great, unrecognized player. Wickipedia lists many of the songs he played on, and its extensive!!!
Its..strange to hear white guys try to sound like black bluesman when the real thing is also going at it. George giving it a shot,John close but Taj is the real thing at the same time. Well, those days are now all gone. Nobody doing top 40 blues based rock anymore.
Shit. I'm sure that's just what Dylan wanted when he finally coaxed Fogerty out of his self-imposed ban on performing CCR songs - for Taj Mahal to fuck up "Proud Mary" trying to steal the show.
@@allymayful It doesn't matter, when George Harrison and Bob Dylan take the stage, two of the most famous musicians worldwide, you move your a** out of the way and give them room. The owner of this establishment should have stepped up. George Harrison and Bob Dylan command a lot of money on tour and if they want to play for free in this place, the owner should have been more than happy to give them room and, if it was me, call it in for some quick advertising on the radio.
@@TheBluewaterBlonde If the owner had done that l guarantee that both Bob and George would have walked off with him. They didn't see themselves as superior to any other musician.
@@allymayful No they wouldn't have walked off if they were just left alone to play with each other and if it had been announced on the radio they were playing there I guarantee the place would have been swamped with people trying to get in. They are both modest men and wouldn't have put on superior airs, they never did, and they were there just to have fun and to play with each other. However, the other musicians should have seen them as "superior" because they were, big time. Both Bob Dylan and George Harrison (RIP) were about the most famous musicians in the world when they took that stage for free, they were like movie stars and everyone in the world could recognize them wherever they went. Both were true legends and both were already inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, George Harrison twice, once in the Beatles and once as a solo artist and Bob Dylan awarded a Nobel Prize for Literature as the best lyricist in the world. That guy in Taj Mahal couldn't shine their shoes and should have removed himself out of respect and just enjoyed the show instead of ruining it by always trying to take center stage.
"That Taj Mahal guy just won't get out of the way." Are you bloody serious? This was a Taj Mahal show!! If anything, it was the other three preventing him from doing his set. Do you even know who Taj Mahal is? It appears you don't.

Increíble ver y escuchar a todo ese talento junto a John Fogerty
The Great John Fogerty! Thank God he’s still with us. What a Great Voice! He comes through Loud and Clear here!
The man hasn't lost a step!

George freakin' LOVED playing Blue Suede Shoes & Carl Perkins!
Para mi fue imptesionante ver a bob dylan george harrison jhon fogerti nunca me imagine verlos juntos un apluso felicidades
Harrison backing up Fogerty! Unreal!
Taj Mahal with a great Yoko Ono impression on "Proud Mary." Just missing the pillowcase.
How can't he resist this infectious tune? Totally understandable

Definitely not the most harmonious back up vocals there but still a million miles away from yoko, Hes just feelin it.
He's just jamming with his voice. He's bloody excited to be there, at that time in history. Who wouldn't?
NO KIDDING, HE WAS NOT NEEDED THAT NIGHT............................
I got to the Palomino late that night and was denied entry. Two friends of mine that got into the show got Dylan’s and Harrison’s autographs. Dammit!
Amazing entertainer s

This happened on the 19th of february 1987
Bootleg CDs of the performances were readily available by 1988. I have one that was titled "The Silver Wilburys".
What a great show!
Good to know that both me and Bob love CCR
Now this is CLASSIC!!!!! What a line up!!!! Thanks a million for this. 1987.
Even Dylan looks like he's having fun

One of many unforgettable nights at the Palomino.

Which is the last song? I know the melody and I know is a very known one but I can't relate it with the song.
Dizzy Miss Lizzy
But its not the same intro that the one in the beatles version, right?
Seems "Pretty Woman" (Orbison)!
Ps: Sorry! I Don't speak english!
Aaaaaaah! Pretty Woman! Gracias! Hace semanas que lo tenía en la cabeza y no me daba cuenta de cual era.

-actually they were guests on the Taj"s show, so he didn"t try to steal nothing, just having fun with great music makers, rock on!
That Taj Mahal guy just won't get out of the way. It's like he has to be the center of attention no matter what is going on.
Come on!!!!!! It was his concert when the others joined him.

WHO DAT CLAPPIN'?
Taj Mahal made Proud Mary a much better song. Anyone who says otherwise knows nothing.
You would have thought that they would have observed that John was certainly enjoying it.
bullshit
fuck you
I think Taj was the weak link in the entire video
@@paulspears715 the weak link was the sound engineer.
Taj Mahal ruined Proud Mary.
Who payed Taj Majal to spoil the Fogerty's Proud Mary ?????
QUICK, SOMEONE PUSH MAHAL OFF STAGE..................TOO UPPITY!
¿ Quien pagaba a Taj Mahal para que jodiera el Proud Mary de Fogerty ?????
