  • Do you want the government telling you when to observe the Sabbath, which, by default is on Sunday, according to Project 2025.
Project 2025 is a far-right conservative program led by the Heritage Foundation that outlines policy proposals and personnel recommendations meant to totally reshape the U.S. federal government…if a Republican candidate wins the 2024 presidential election.
It's 922-page blueprint, called the “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise," has a chapter outlining proposed policy changes for the “DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND RELATED AGENCIES.”
This chapter opens with a mission statement opining on “The Judeo-Christian tradition, stretching back to Genesis.”
But then you keep reading, and you get to a part calling for Fair Labor laws to be changed to compel Americans to observe a #Sabbath Rest. []

Not so. All food prep, cleaning etc. are to be done ahead of sabbath (Saturday) according to scripture and no where does the bible say these things have to be done only by women . Christmas is not a biblical holiday. It is not in the Bible. Jesus was born during the feast of Sukkoth which is in October usually. Neither is Easter by the way. Although I am a believer I do not agree with imposing a forced sabbath on any day. Being a religious Jew or a Christian is a voluntary decision. I think our current system of weekends off is good. I like having Fridays off to. Americans work way to much and families suffer because of it. Of course there are some jobs that have to have workers all weekend such as healthcare. Most republicans have never even heard of Agenda 2025. It is not something put out by them but by a private group. Unlike most people think not all Christian’s observe a Sunday sabbath. Many do not. Also a true sabbath observance requires no labor for money, no work, no shopping, not making or allowing others to work for you so no eating at restaurants. Most Christians don’t follow that either. They do whatever they want after church is out.

Jews are somewhat better about making sure the cooking is done before the Sabbath and some won't even turn lights on. They use timers. But that kind of Orthodox is pretty rare.
It is more common that the Orthodox allow various household tasks on the Sabbat, going so far as to string a token electrical wire around their neighborhoods so as to allow gardening and lawn mowing on the Sabbat.

And they would keep sitting there, long after they had finished the meal, just having a blab fest and other people would be waiting for a table. Hard to believe, I know. I have a 'wait and see' attitude towards that but it compares to the time of Christ when they put Christians to death. They want to fix the environment and society with 1 day off! The Papal system IS the anti-christ. Watch Elizabeth the Golden Age and observe how the Roman church whispered in all the king's ears in Europe. In this case, Spain and England. England was leaning to allowing both religions, Catholic and Protestant. Pope didn't want it but couldn't declare war (using Spain) without a legal excuse. It's a spiritual war between Christ and Satan and it is what is to come before the return of Jesus to end this mess. Satan has wanted his own worship from the beginning and the war started in heaven. Odd... when I was organist at a Conservative Baptist Church -- which is plenty fundamentalist -- I heard a sermon that very explicitly spelled out that Sunday was _not_ the Sabbath. Saturday was the Sabbath, but per this pastor's view, the need to observe it as such was cancelled along with other old Jewish requirements. He then said that Sunday was "The Lord's Day," and should then be observed as such.
Being raised Seventh-Day Adventist, a Christian sect that observes the traditional Jewish Sabbath, I found his viewpoint at least understandable, though I couldn't agree with it. In any case, there are obviously plenty of Christians who would disagree with Project 2025's "theology."
One benefit of growing up Adventist is a very strong belief in the complete separation of church and state. I certainly hope that Adventists, Seventh-Day Baptists, Jews, and indeed all of us outside the ignorant fundamentalism of Project 2025 become aware of the dangers to our freedoms this represents.

I remember those days being trapped at home, because everything was closed. The only thing we had back then was the TV playing re-runs of old shows and movies until we got fed up with it. Let me offer my opinion as a 70 yr old madsachusetts womsn who is a Democrat and regular church goer. Se had nlue laws I n the state until the late 70s and 80s. I dont think liquor stores could be open on Sundays until the 90s. These laws fell because the chamber of commerce and other gruops, (remrmber this was the heyday of shopping malls) wanted to sell, sell, sell, 7 days a week. The rdligious rights of non Christians were only given lip service. Most people i knew whether Jewish, Christian or something else were glad to have Sundays off to spend at home orcwith family and friends Many observant Jews who owned shops found it problematic to be open on Saturdays but kept their shops open anyway. For professionals it wasnt an issue.
Ofcourse our country is very different religiously today and the right can't turn back the clock no matter how hard they try.
But the idea in zproject 2025 of keeping Sunday mostly labor free, isnt in my opinion as nearly dangerous as banning books or imprisonong librarians
Ill be working to turn out the Democratic vote in November. But if Trump shoukd get in, God forbid, there will be bigger things to worry about than having Sundays off.

My question is where could this be going, in the macro sense, over time? Could the end be an enforced mandatory participatory singular faith tradition for everyone, or would the individual still be respected as they are now? Sorry, but I seem to vaguely recall Bill Barr saying something about a singular faith tradition being a positive thing for the country. Like everyone being members of the same denomination or faith tradition despite what they may have been in the past, with no diversity of religious faith groups. It would be like the establishment of an official "state or national church" with all others being heretical.

"..... It would be like the establishment of an official "state or national church" with all others being heretical....."
That is very specifically prohibited by the First Amendment. Of course, a MAGA Supreme Court could probably find a way around it. For example, by explaining that in 1789 all Christian denominations had foreign roots, so the Founding Fathers were really just waiting for a uniquely American creed to appear and be anointed America's Established Church.

I’ve known plenty of Christians who look down their noses and say how misguided the other denominations are.

A day being included in the forced worship of the mark of the beast is not written in the bible as Sunday worship began when the early church was formed.

The only problem is that you get more pay INSTEAD of your day of worship. This proposal would not change anything. Someone still has to work the weekends.

There is a comment the lady makes that I respectfully disagree with. The 10 Commandments are not Jewish. They are for all of God's people. Even Christ said, if you love me keep my commandments. Well, I love Christ so I will keep them. This is one location of the Bible that proves this. The other is a very short phrase in Genesis where Abram is described by God as a just man who follows MY LAWS AND COMMANDMENTS. This comment was made a thousand years before the name Hebrew was ever mentioned. God's laws alway have been, currently is, and always will be His laws. Abram knew this, Jesus on Earth taught this, and since Jesus gives us the choice, we are encouraged to live this.
On a side note, Sabbath is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. The first Christians kept this practice till man decided to change the worship day to Sunday several hundred years after the Crucifiction. But that's a discussion for another day.

The entire old testament follows the Jews and their journey. And it makes a clear lineage to Jesus, as a Jew. And shows God keeping his promise to Abraham that one of his decendants would someday be King of all men. Or at least that is the way many view it. So I am always puzzled as to why some people out there would claim that their practice of observing Sunday as the "day of rest" is the only true and right one. Many religions observe Saturday as "the Lords day". And you are right, America has many different religions. The constitution gives this as a promise and "law of the land" to all who are in America. It also promises athiests freedom in their pursuit of nothing.
