    I remember getting this in Toys 'R' Us for $16.95 and I really did like how realistic they looked. Fast Forward years later and here I am ordering it online from eBay for $30. These model planes were amazing and just glorious to look at

    Nice, well-lit video of these great diecast models! I discovered them at our Target store in the early 2000's, and was amazed at the sturdiness, paint, and price. I remember they were only $10.95 each and I eventually collected 21 aircraft plus a few duplicates over their short availability. The first batch of 4 had a different base with a gold "National Aviation Hall Of Fame" medallion along with the Pilot's name and victory count. The panel-lines and details were not as fine as the Corgi 1/72 diecast but those cost a lot more and are quite fragile. I'm surprised I couldn't find a complete product-line list on the web, but I'm pretty sure I have them all except for the Zero I sold several years ago. The $20 diecast planes I remember from that time were at Walmart and close to 1:48 scale. Impressive because of their size, but they lacked underside detail and only included a few US Navy and Marine jets and helicopters. I have 6 or so in my office. I really miss seeing this kind of item in the toy departments!

    I was still in high school (9th grade) when these came out. I only managed to buy 2 of them. The Spitfire(1st one in this video) and the P-40 Warhawk. I got into WWII after(specially dogfighting and snipers) after watching Saving Private Ryan, Enemy At The Gates, and Pearl Harbor. I wish I had more money at that time so that I could've bought all 6 of them. By the way... I still keep em in it's original packaging! 👍

    Took a lot of work but managed to buy all individual models produced including WWI and the jets. Have a large display and love them. Best diecast planes I have come across. Can't recommend them enough!

    Actually over 33,000 Bf109s were made in total (surpassed only by the Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik with over 42,000 made). Staggering figures.

    I agree they are excellent models! I picked up the P40 & P51 when they came out. I definitely regret not buying them all.

    I wish they'd sold these in Brazil way back then... we barely had Matchbox basic releases, let alone these special Collectibles issues.

      I'm from Brazil too, sadly I can't find them here, I'm really into WWII planes, mostly Battle of Britain. I'd love to have at least a decent detailed Hawker Hurricane.

      I have a basic Douglas C-47 that is actualy a toy (bad detailed), I've paid R$ 27,00 on it in 2010, turns out he was a plane used on D Day, allies would jump from them. But as you can see, they lost the opportunity to at least give it a decent paint job: encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRVHHK-Q3m4YCHwHQBarZkVdEARnPHxHgePWw&usqp=CAU

    the fw190 that is modeled here is the a8/r2 variant which had upgraded the outboard 20 mil to a 30 mil cannon, that's why the barrels are shorter than the inboard ones, and also had upgraded cowling armament, from 7.7mm's, to 13 mm. all together it would obliterate a b17 or b24 into confetti with just one pass. I have collected damn near all of these that matchbox made they're the best models out in my opinion. If you have more you should totally make another vid on your collection you have the only video on RUclips that covers these models .

    Does the undercarriage open out, or it’s just permanent fixture on the toy.

    • @jAgUaRkurt
      @jAgUaRkurt 4 года назад

      Permanent fixture. Unless you manage to pull it out somehow. I believe it's just glue holding it down.
