no controversy. he evolves defenses to whatevers attacking him to adapt. it was only after he evolved past his own personal evolution, that its body decides 'oh wait, the machines arent the ones attacking my body, its the humans behind the machines' so it evolved defenses against humans, smaller humanoid soldier castes, like external anti-bodies
@@eggseed6543 not entirely true, because we have things like matango and meganula which are human sized and are still considered 'creatures' in the kaiju sense. this is why things like monster island need to be explored further.
@@KazeMunashii then you're right, and the biggest controversy could be that they look too much like xenomorphs (though sidenote: meganula could've been used just against giant monsters, the numbers making up for the small size)
I'd like to think that it could've been Godzilla unleashing humanoid minions while his fifth form would be it's own thing. Like, the humanoid Godzillas were more of another weapon rather than the next step in his evolution.
That wouldn't have been his final form. His final form would, I think, be his ninth, having consumed all that exists in our universe, and then becoming one himself. Likely, the cycle would repeat itself. Over and over.
Yeah there's tons of chances as he's supposed to evolve to be adapted to his environment so no question that he definitely will evolve into the whole universe in order to make sure that the environment is suitable for him or all in all he will just become god of his own universe
@@luisgomez8635 I'm confused. Did you reply to my comment to provide input, or just to be an ass? If it's the latter, however, I would like to request that you move forward with you life, and stop being such a child.
Honestly the fifth form makes a certain level of sense and I have no problems with it. There is actual precedence for a gestalt kaiju, even if it's not Gojira. Destoroyah is a gestalt kaiju. Shin Gojira was a rapidly evolving creature, there's literally no denying that, and as his biology adapted to life outside of the ocean the kaiju form of him is less and less evolutionarily advantageous. As the fifth form is a Kaijin, which is in it's own right a reference to an Edo period sea monster, he is not only asexually reproducing but also adapting to life on land in a more energy efficient way. His reproduction would have been beneficial rather disastrous. Shin Gojira is a creature that feeds on radiation and has evolved to do that quite well. When he was irradiating the areas during his earlier stages he was in essence creating a nest for his offspring. Humanity was very shortsighted in freezing him as he would've beneficial as an overall whole to humanity. I honestly feel that Goro Maki committed seppuku as an attempt to regain his perceived lost honor. Nothing more or less.
true, although in my headcanon, Goro Maki committed suicide by jumping into the ocean, which would later got encountered with Godzilla and probably it carried out DNA assimilation, which it would have a DNA sample of human that enabled it to give humanoid offsprings
I think a better idea would be that Shin Godzilla evolved his abilities and gained the ability to spawn humanoid Godzillas from his tail. That way we can still see Shin Godzilla on screen while his humanoid army attacks people simultaneously in other scenes.
Probably because it goes against the original idea of godzilla, although shin is pretty damn cool. And if you want to talk about scary check out godzilla earth. Literally incapable of even being phased by humans attempts to kill it.
I honestly think that the humanoid are shin Godzilla's fifth form but rather minions that will help it fight against humans without having to waste it's energy
That final form I feel would somehow have to be able to collect itself to combat other Kaiju at some point. Rather could they be a parasite of some sort that protect the host being Shin Godzilla. Hmmm?
I assume and it's more likely shin was trying to evolve a new defense mechanism against smaller targets relative to its size so they'd act like ticks on an animal except way WAY worse as they'll probably eat and kill anything on site. And is this a good thing? Heck yeah this is a breath of fresh air to the other toho Godzilla movies which portrays goji as a hero of sorts. In this one however we actually see him be sort of like the freak of nature and an unknown variable to the world for the worse, and goji's 5th form indicates the kind of destruction he'd bring had he not be put down even just a moments later than it should've been. If legendary's Godzilla keeps the world in balance, this Godzilla is the opposite as it's the very embodiment of how scary evolution can be.
I see no controversy here. If it took humans banding together to defeat Shin then Shin responding by having humanoid Shins running around makes absolute sense. I feel though we'd still have the traditional Shin but also these creatures too. Think of it like Clover and thosr parasites from Cloverfield.
He was a prehistoric fish. Ran out of nuclear waste to feed on, and so climbed onto land looking for more radioactive material. Quickly mutated into an amphibious, and later reptilian creature. Then went mammalian. I do think one of the humanoids fell off and started roaming on its own. Shin Godzilla is all about rapid mutation, that's why the vomited blobs quickly adapted to become an independent organism. There is no controversy, they simply left it open-ended so that every viewer can decide the outcome for themselves. And more importantly, keep focus on Godzilla itself instead of leaning too eldritch.
I can understand where the purists were coming from...but admittedly I would have loved to see where that evolutionary stage would go, if only to sate my curiosity.
The 5th evolution is probably meant as defensive purposes sorta like white cells in your body to fight off whatever infection or disease that's in your body. Which I think that's sorta the purpose for these "manzillas" though the real evolution was in the concept of Shin godzilla growing another godzilla from its body and just split apart. Gives the sense of over time the world will be overrun by godzillas
There is a mcu like universe for shin Godzilla and that is "Shin Japanese heroes universe" by hediaki Anno(anime evangalion creator) that will feature evangalion, shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider in one universe. But you can called it Annoverse for short. And in the new Shin Ultraman there are hint on the film like a frozen kaiju in tokyo were transported to Antarctica, a mask man running around japan aka Shin Kamen rider so they are hinting for a one expending universe in the future.
just watched it and surprised that it turns into a controversy among Godzilla fans. as a neutral viewer, im actually looking forward for the sequel with more explanation about the tail
I’m not a fan of the 5th form (I can’t say exactly why, since I don’t exactly know why), but I would like to see an alternate version with the 5th form achieved (I imagine that it is just those little man-zillas with Shin Godzilla still around and controlling them) for the pure horror part (I imagine something like the Sony Zilla movie, but with those things and far more terrifying).
I think it'd be really cool to see an army of xenomorph like creatures maybe grown to titan sizes still dwarfed by Godzilla but maybe like 15m or something where they're still terrifying to us, and they act as Godzilla's minions that he's unleashed, being more supplementary to Godzilla himself
This is exactly why I wish they had used an original monster for the shin movie. The idea of eldritch Humanoids spawning from Godzilla is outlandish but any general mill Kaiju and BAM! You have a new take on the genre that could've been explored ala cloverfield
That wasn't the goal of Shin Godzilla, the true enemy in the Shin Godzilla wasn't Godzilla but rather the old and fragility government and defense system (Godzilla were more so the punishment of mother of nature to man for not valuing the nature), which is why the young people are the hope of the country (explained why the defeat of Godzilla executed by the newcomer without the needing the help of bad system of the old generation), so adding in another monster would not help continue the story in that ways because the author want to have a story of man dealing with a monster that they themselves created.
@@hainguyn948 you misunderstand. I meant Godzilla himself as the original Kaiju in question not another monster in a "vs movie". If they based the film around a completely new monster unrelated to the Godzilla franchise they could've really doubled down on treading different more horrific territory not to take away from what shin did in this one mind you.
I imagined Shins final form is it completely assimilating the planet into it biomass until the entire earth is a giant celestial godzilla ball shooting atomic plasma blast through planets in the solar system
