Hi mate, I create prety much the same setup in our course (I show standard render and octane) you can check it out here skl.sh/2ONN6GY Thanks for watching!
Great stuff, Dave! I'm wondering if you need the Cloner? If you make your sphere child of Emitter and turn ON "Show Objects" it'd work, even with the Dynamics tag applied straight to the Emitter
Nice tutorial ! This is exactly what I wanted to do ! I saw this on envato and it looks so cool :D Are the files octane render ready ? I know you don't do light tuts but how did you light this scene ? I really want to know :) Thanks for the tut mate
I've actualy got a full Octane lighting and texturing course coming out in 2019 for you guys so hopeuly that will help you out;) You can also download all the render ready files from our patreon page if you want to have a look or use them in your own work;)
Great, as soon as it's up I'll be posting it all over social media so check back soon in early 2019 or you could join our facebook group or sign up for the newsletter on our site. Have a great Christmas mate!
That looks cool! :D I want to render that too, but a little bit different, on my way. But I don't know, how to do the background that good and I don't have a good lightroom. If you already uploaded such videos, I'm sorry for asking, but could you do a tutorial for that or some suggestions for good lightrooms? Would be helpful :D
Hi Alex, I made a full course recently that covers a lighting setup similar to this one here skl.sh/2ONN6GY All you'd need to do is put a yellow material on the white spotted one in the course video. Hope that helps mate. Have a merry Christmas!

Cheers mate! i'm working on creating a full lighting and texturing course in 2019 which will cover something very similar. In the meantime you can download the actual render ready project from our Patreon page if you need it, I rendered that in Octane;) Thanks for watching!
Good idea Faith, I'll add that one to the list! BTW If you didn't already know about it we now have a Facebook Group if you'd like to get involved facebook.com/groups/CGShortcuts. Thanks for watching!

One of the most important things - materials and light. There is no lightning in project and no in tutorial :( I hope you wil add all steps in future tuts to do same thing as we see in first seconds of tut. Anyway great work and tutorial thanks!
Cheers. I dont dont go over the lighting and texturing every time because it's often the same process. You can get the finished project with lights and textures on my Patreon page if you need it though, they're all rendered in Octane. I hope to do some more Lighting and texturing tutorials soon;)
Great tutorial! The star is black in the project file when I open it in C4D, when I rotate around the workspace it shows hints of the gold though... Do I need to adjust the reflective properties for the texture to show properly?
Cheers Joe, glad you liked it mate! The star should already have a simple gold material on it but you'll need to light the scene and render it out to see the gold effect in its full glory. I rendered the preview with Octane render in Cinema 4D, if you want those Octane materials (if you have the plugin) you can grab the final render ready scene from our patreon. If you want to make your own standard c4d gold shader though you might want to check this tute out ruclips.net/video/IBA2Ytw7BRY/видео.html Thanks for watching!
Hi, how did you get the bauble texture to have multiple stripes? I see you've used a gradient but can't seem to get the red-white-red-white effect you seem to have. Thanks in advance
hey, thanks for this tutorial, I followed step by step and all was good, but when I press play everything start changing. First it show as you show in the video, few seconds after, all the bubbles start showing just as blacklines geometry, and the all white boxes. I dont know what is the problem. I have a really good computer (legion), big memory and procesor... but is going this way. Any help???
My baubles seems to not wanna follow the spline. All of them are just staying down on the ground in a big pile.. while some of them (like 4) are following the spline. What did i do wrong? great tutorial though, thanks.
@@CGShortcuts hey, I fixed it. But now i have another problem. Instead of a star, i have a logo centered over the top. How do I scale this and have the pop-up effect like you have in this video? the logo is a object directly from illustrator. Thank you.
Octane bud;) We've got loads of extra resources on www.cgshortcuts.com and if you'd like to get involved you can join our CG Shortcuts Facebook Group facebook.com/groups/CGShortcuts where you can find more tutorials, get help, post your work and enter our monthly art challenges where you can win cool CG Prizes;) Thank's for watching!
Hi Julie, bit hard to explain all he steps in the comments, I hope to do more lighting tutorials soon, but in the meantime I go over a similar setup in my course that might help you out here skl.sh/2ONN6GY I used Octane for the xmas tree render but the course shows Standard c4d and octane setups;) Hope that helps!
If you look under the particle tab of your emitter, the birthrate editor (whats visible in the editor) and birthrate renderer (what actualy renders) should be the same otherwise your render will differ from the viewport. Hope that helps
Hi Perah, as it's a bit hard to give you an answer in the comments, any chance you could post your question on our Facebook Group and one of our community members can give you a hand;) If you could post some screenshots of your issue too that would be super helpful! If you're not already a member you can join free here: facebook.com/groups/CGShortcuts/

It's Facebook.com/groups/cgshortcuts Thanks for watching!
Hey mate, I don't always go through the process as I use Octane to render these and not everyone has access to the plugin, and it's often the same steps each time. If you want to see exactly how I've done the lighting and texturing, all the final render ready project files (which include all the lighting, materials and render settings) can be downloaded from our Patreon page here: www.patreon.com/cgshortcuts or on our website cgshortcuts.com/product/christmas-tree-render-ready/. We will be making more indepth courses and tutorials about lighting and rendering soon;) Thanks for watching!
How to make such STAR? I used Sрline , Extrude and Bevel tools. It looks fine but not as great as yours. AND what s next? I cant get such smooth contour edge with Symmetry. Рlease
Hi Alexandra, I didn't add that bit because there was already a few tutes how to do that on RUclips, try this one ruclips.net/video/9lNtv9s1iPI/видео.html Thanks for watching!
@@CGShortcuts Thanx for reрly. I saw it when I was trying to do mine. But that star is sharр and yours is smooth in edges. In that video everything is clear. But how to bevel the contour when you have a Symmetry object, to make it looks like yours?

Hello Bro, tank you for tutorial, did you used dynamic tag for Star at up?
Cheers mate, yep, I just made it a rigid body collider;)
Hi, how did you get the bauble texture to have multiple stripes? I see you've used a gradient but can't seem to get the red-white-red-white effect you seem to have. Thanks in advance
супер....спасибо
не волнуйтесь!
The download link cannot be opened. Could you share an updated link to the project file? Thanks!
Seems to be working for me, what version of cinema 4d are u using?
hey, thanks for this tutorial, I followed step by step and all was good, but when I press play everything start changing.
Hey Anders, hard to say without seeing your file. If you post it up on the Facebook Group we can have a look for you
@@CGShortcuts hey, I fixed it. But now i have another problem. Instead of a star, i have a logo centered over the top. How do I scale this and have the pop-up effect like you have in this video? the logo is a object directly from illustrator. Thank you.
Just animate the scale from 0 to 1 and it'll scale in
Can i ask which your rendering engine do you use? look so natural

On your final Render. How did make your star collides with the baubles?
Just hand animate it and add another dynamics tag on the star;)
Hello, prompt as it is correct to render in C4D all settings and other. Like in the video. Thank you!
Were you asking a question? Im not sure I follow. Glad you liked it though;)
Dear, how you do yellow background, pleas say, I newber)
Thats just a curved piece of geometry with a yellow shader;)
学这个案列的方法,能用到很多地方。谢谢!

How can I set lights and have a yellow background?
Hi Julie, bit hard to explain all he steps in the comments, I hope to do more lighting tutorials soon, but in the meantime I go over a similar setup in my course that might help you out here skl.sh/2ONN6GY I used Octane for the xmas tree render but the course shows Standard c4d and octane setups;) Hope that helps!
Hello sir when iam going to render the project some of the 'ball' is not visible after rendering and its visible in viewport...
If you look under the particle tab of your emitter, the birthrate editor (whats visible in the editor) and birthrate renderer (what actualy renders) should be the same otherwise your render will differ from the viewport. Hope that helps
@@CGShortcuts thank you very much ...it helped me alot
no problem;)
Hi! Is it possible to create in Blender? thanks in advance for answer
Not sure, I dont use Blender;)
thanks for answer ))@@CGShortcuts
How did you make the star pop out?
Hi Perah, as it's a bit hard to give you an answer in the comments, any chance you could post your question on our Facebook Group and one of our community members can give you a hand;) If you could post some screenshots of your issue too that would be super helpful! If you're not already a member you can join free here: facebook.com/groups/CGShortcuts/
CG Shortcuts oh wonderful! I would join ASAP
How to make the star pop up at the end???
Hey Spidy, I just hand animated mine. If you put a dynamics tag on it as well the baubles will interact with it too;) BTW If you didn't already know about it we now have a Facebook Group if you'd like to get involved facebook.com/groups/CGShortcuts. Thanks for watching!
Thnx gonna experiment with it and happy new year you can follow me on instagram starboy_0000
How do you make the materials for the baubles? thanks.
I just created some simple stripy shaders in Octane using the gradient ramp;) We have an awesome new Facebook Group of artists now too if you'd like to get involved, you can ask questions, post your work, get free stuff and enter our CG challenges - there's one on right now! It's Facebook.com/groups/cgshortcuts Thanks for watching!
why dont you show how to add lighting and such BG?
Hey mate, I don't always go through the process as I use Octane to render these and not everyone has access to the plugin, and it's often the same steps each time. If you want to see exactly how I've done the lighting and texturing, all the final render ready project files (which include all the lighting, materials and render settings) can be downloaded from our Patreon page here: www.patreon.com/cgshortcuts or on our website cgshortcuts.com/product/christmas-tree-render-ready/. We will be making more indepth courses and tutorials about lighting and rendering soon;) Thanks for watching!
Does anyone know how to reverse keyframe this animation? I already tryied to bake the animation but i don´t have any control in reversing it
Right click on the selected keyframes and choose EDIT/REVERSE SEQUENCE
Rendering time? CPU specs?
Rendered with Octane so no CPU power needed really, I have a plain old i7. It took about an hour to render HD with 2x GTX 1080s
I can't download the Project files for free like it says?
Type a 0
@@CGShortcuts where?
How to make it appear for the star?
