    Yes, their savoury food is so elite. Love their chicken burger stack. The only donut I love is apple and caramel fritter, amazing. For drinks, french vanilla latte.

    This is a fun one! I'm Canadian so I always love seeing these and comparing them to here. You all have some doughnuts we don't have here, like the caramel s'mores one. We also don't have the pancakes here or the burgers. (Although fun fact: Tim Horton's originally began as a hamburger stand). Tim bits are not always amazing, but like you said they're the type of thing where if you rock up to a family gathering, school trip, boring work thing etc. with some, you're styling. When I was a kid I always liked the chocolate ones, because they were more rare, like you'd get a box of Tim Bits on a weekend and it might only have 2 or 3 so finding a chocolate one was special. You're definitely right about the quality going down hill to cut costs, it used to be that they baked everything on site. Then, a while back they moved to having everything frozen and pre-made, in my opinion there was a noticeable decline in quality then. Also, back in the day, they didn't just have pre-made sandwhiches. They used to have like little mini sandwich bars in the restaurants and you could pick what you wanted. Someone would make the sandwich for you. It was kind of like Subway, but not as much choice as Subway. I think both these things were probably done away with because then you can cut staffing, if you don't have to employ people to be bakers or sandwich makers. That's just my opinion.

    it's possible the reason those are better than the ones in canada is, the ones in canada are frozen dough shipped from ontario, if there aren't enough tims in the uk, they may HAVE to make them fresh as that's far enough to ship frozen dough that it'd be obviously horrible. get enough tims there, the quality will also plummet.

    • @ThisWithThem
      @ThisWithThem  11 месяцев назад

      Shame the quality has dropped now. They will realise once less and less shop there now!

    As a Canadian I can confirm that Tim Hortons is not what it used to be. The focus is now on introducing new food items constantly instead of doing the basics well. They used to have a nice big selection of different donuts and Tim Bits, now it's the same 6-7 flavours to choose from. They need to get rid of majority of the current food menu and get back to focusing on the things that made them popular (donuts, baked goods, simple breakfast and lunch items).

    There are cake doughnuts and raised (fluffy) doughnuts. Nearly all chocolate (not just frosted) are cake ones, as are certain other varieties (“old fashioned”/“apple cider”/“sour cream”).
    And I’m the opposite of Kate in that I’m always disappointed when something has raspberry jam and wish it were strawberry.
    In Seattle, there’s a popular place called Top Pot Doughnuts. They taste fine, but my only caveat is that after you eat one, my mouth feels like I ate a spoonful of Crisco, which I don’t get from other places.

    In the late 90s/early 2000s I would visit Tim Horton every year and get a walnut crunch donut (dark chocolate, with nuts and a clear glaze over the top). Each year they were a bit smaller and drier than the year before. Then in 2003, they switched from making the donuts from scratch in each store, to centralized production: partially baked and flash frozen in a factory, finished off in store. The quality definitely went downhill for my taste at that point-flashier donuts, but with less character and flavour. It was disappointing, but on the plus side, I can’t eat donuts anymore, so the less craveable the better! 😄

    That menu barely resembles my local Timmy’s here in Canada.
    We do have Tim bits but no pancakes or most of those donuts.
    Timmy’s are also in our grocery stores with soup, cereal, coffee, chili and even icecream.
    My go to order is Orange Ginger Quencher and an apple fritter donut.

    I’m VERY picky about donuts. I like plain and classic. A cruller, glazed croissant, or plain/original Krispy Kreme type. Fluffier than cakey as I don’t like cake. So I don’t think I’d like Tim’s donuts!

    Having worked at Tim Hortons for over 23 years i can say their offerings are not so great. In 2001 or thereabouts Tims switched from 2 bakes a day in store to a 'par bake' as they call it. The products arrive flash frozen from the head office. They are filled and finished in store. Alot of their procucts have an eight hour shelf life. I tasted a 12 hour old Timbit and then a brand new par baked Timbit (they yeasted honey dip is best). The old Timbit was sooooo much better. Restaurant Brands International ( they own Burger King) took Tims over about 9 or 10 years ago and the quality went even further downhill. It sucks to see an iconic Canadian brand go down the toilet. I stopped working for them about 3 years ago and only recently got my sanity back 😅

  • @rdkartart1775
    @rdkartart1775 11 месяцев назад

    I agree Tim's coffee is very bitter. Can't believe how many people are lined up at the drive troughs' in the mornings to get what I consider crap coffee. But tim's coffee lovers are Loyal to the brand. McDonalds coffee is way better here in my opinion. (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada). I don't eat the donuts, but locally all the donuts are brought in frozen whereas they used to be baked fresh.
