Thanks for watching 💙 Here’s my jumpstart singing lesson on Singr for those who want to learn - appreciate you hanging with me on YT 🙏🏼 singr.tv/justin
Thank you for your reaction. This performance is propably closer to what Lloyd Webber was thinking when he wrote this song, compared to most other versions. The Phantom is supposed to be scary. One thing I've noticed is that the more knowledge a reactor has about singing the more she/he appreciates Marco, the bassist/vocalist. Several opera singers, for example Elizabeth Zharoff (Charismatic Voice channel), and Maggie Renee, reacted to this performance, in order to hear Tarja especially for the first time, but they were blown away by Marko's vocals.
Yeah. Floor can do it 150%, with Marco or Henk, but this one is the 151%. I mean like, I love Floor, but the main difference is, that Floor CAN sing opera parts, but Tarja IS an opera singer.
Tarja and Marko actually just reunited recently to sing this song together for the first time in 18 years. There's a lot of great songs from that concert known as End of an Era, Tarja's final with the band. I also suggest checking out her solo career, where she has a much more eclectic catalogue. you mentioned mosh pit so i'll recommend Victim of Ritual from Woodstock. as well as Stargazers, from Buenos aires with "Tarja's solo band. It's a NW song, but the energy during that concert from the band and crowd is so rediculous.
Hey guys!!! Hahaha, your faces!!! You can't imagine the amazing things this band can do. Please keep on with Nightwish. Good reaction. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina. Sorry for my English
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!😀👍👍🤘
Just watch the entire "End of an Era" video. Planet Hell and Slaying the Dreamer are two songs featuring both Marco and Tarja. Check out the concert video "from Dreams to Eternity" also.
A great reaction video from a great band. I appreciate. Nightwish is a Finnish metal band whose purpose is to play from melodic to heavy metal with a female voice. There have been four singers in the band, of which perhaps the most important and versatile was the bassist Marco. Phantom of the Opera's singer Tarja Turunen best reflects the band's idea. The singing is classical and technically superior compared to other singers. During the time of second singer Anette Olzon, the band sounded very commercial and the studio records are very good. Unfortunately, Olzon was not at his best in live concerts. During Olzen's time, one of the best songs in heavy metal, Master Passion Green, sung by Marco Hietala, was recorded. The current singer Floor Jansen is a very good live performer. The most artistically versatile singer, who is not quite as capable of demanding singing as Turunen. However, the sound is very commercial and mass-pleasing. However, the best thing about the band is the playing skills of keyboard-bass-guitar-drums and Holopainen's unimaginable talent for writing songs.
I miss Marco and Jukka, but I haven't missed Tarja for a day. Floor made me listen to Nightwish again with live performances, even though the first encounter on the radio didn't make any difference.@@RichFrye
@@RichFrye Reality is that the entire concept of the original Nightwish revolved around Tarja's vocal style and technique. Her strong classical influenced voice is what inspired Tuomas to turn what was originally planned to just be a "Folk music project" into a symphonic metal band. Tuomas says exactly this, on the end of Innocence DVD, when he recounts the story of the founding of the band. Yes, Floor is a good vocalist as well, but honestly, she's more of a rock/metal singer than anything else and really can't do justice to the Tarja era songs. And had it not been for Tarja, Nightwish would have been more like Auri.
Just when you think you`ve heard everything and nothing can surprise you in the noble art of music, here comes Tarja Turunen and says:" Boss, I`m gonna need you to come with me!"
After this performance, Tarja (The female singer) was kicked from the band with an open letter. In 2017 Tarja and Marko (The male singer) performed together at a christmas show and that´s when Marko and Tarja reconnected and later in 2023 they performed the Phantom of the opera together at one of Tarja´s shows. They saw how much people loved that they´re performing together again after 18 years and Marko wanted Tarja to feature on his new song "Left on mars". An interview dropped yesterday and Marko told that they have no bad blood between them nowadays and they have talked through everything that happened almost two decades ago, and they did multiple shows together in 2023. Just lovely.
Well you just met Marko! He is one of the best male vocalists alive but so underrated. He is so cool! You might hear of him by the fans as Rock Gandalf 😂

Watch the version with Floor Jansen and Henk Poort (Henk Poort is the Dutch Phantom Of The opera sort of speak he is been performing that for ages in the netherlands) from the Dutch Show Beste zangers. she will love that version 100% as well. But yeah Tarja sang it originally for nightwish that is. Gorgeous vocals perfect band all together.
Tarja Turune, as all three singers that has been in Nightwish, is schooled sopranos. Tarja and Floor Jansen are the best of them. Even Floor does an amazing Phantom of the orchestra in a little studio with a little audience. You can search It here on RUclips.
That was Tarja, the first Nightwish singer. Floor Jansen is their current female front and recently performed this song with Henk Poort who played the lead in the musical for a few years. Here's the link to their performance. This link is not to the Beste Zangers version that you heard. This one is with Nightwish. If you liked Tarja's version, then you will love Floor's version. I realize that you know the ending high note, but Floor's ending will actually surprise you. She has a powerful, versatile and pitch perfect voice. Her commanding presence onstage is second to none. Being slightly over 6' tall and dressing like Xena Warrior Princess helps too. She is considered to be the number one Queen of Metal. 😊🤘 ruclips.net/video/TM23gaT4zkY/видео.htmlsi=D2y6uv1hE2MXbFzi
NW fans are like piranhas. They'll find you, once you've uploaded one of their songs. It's a solid band with s solid fandom, so have no fear for any weirdoes.
hello the forestella band as I told you before cover this song so beautifully please watch their works and react they are very great they cover many songs so great plz watch one of their performances like despacito ,shape of you ,sweet dreams .....thank you so much for your great reactions
Tarja is their first singer. From the same concert Nemo and Sleeping Sun are very good. Floor their newest singer is best seen in the 2013 Wacken concert. Everdream and Storytime are back to back and very good. A Song of Myself and Romanticide are fantastic and very metal.
Marco also takes lead on a version of High Hopes, which as a Link Floyd fan I have to say is better than the original...there is a 2202 version of Phantom with current singer Floor Jansen also...first NW song usually Ghost Love Score from Wacken live
A kind feedback on the intro with your own music video: the mic and filter cover your beautiful face. It would benefit to bring the camera a bit more to the side so that we could better see you sing.❤
Purists will say that Marco's take needed to have less of the metal distortion but they're are missing the point. The Phantom was a crazed psychopath. He really needs to sound half unhinged. The first time I heard this... 7 years ago I had never heard of Nightwish. Now they are among my all time favorites. I am a former pro musician and all my favorite songs have 2 qualities. Awesome musicianship and superlative vocals. Nightwish has that in every song. The next step in my jourbey was discovering their current lead vocalist Floor Jansen in Ghost Love Score... live from Wacken in 2013. That might be the best, most versatile vocal performance of all time. Please check it out.
Nice reaction! If you want to try another Finnish band, which is masterful, try Wintersun - Sons of winter and stars. Live studio version.

Welcome to the world of Nightwish as Gabriel Bardac already told You. Now You have seen and heard the original singer perform this classic musical theater song. This is an EPIC performance. But in 2005 (after this show) she was lat go and replaced by the second singer, Anette Olzen from Sweden. Anette was later replaced in late september 2012 and the current singer Floor Jansen did her first gig (as a temporary replacement) on October 1st 2012. Nightwish never performed this song again after that night back in 2005, until last year when they performed it live in Amsterdam with Floor of course and together with the Dutch "Phantom Of The Opera" Henk Poort - Please take a look at that as well as it has a bit of another touch (more like the original) and the ending from Floor is EPIC: ruclips.net/video/TM23gaT4zkY/видео.html
Look. Nothing against you. Not trying to be derogatory, but Marco is the absolute man. He can, while and do anything as that’s who he is and what he’s done: plus mind blowing to the extreme, in all ways.
Forestella의 멤버 강형호가 혼자 부른 The Phantom of the Opera와 Nightwish의 두 공연을 비교해서 감상하면 더욱 재미 있을 것 같습니다. 곡의 느낌이 전혀 다릅니다. Forestella의 강형호가 부른 The Phantom of the Opera Reaction 부탁합니다. Man과 Woman를 혼자서 소화합니다.😊
More Nightwish please. That's just another day at the office for Nightwish haha. However, I will say, that is hands down the best rendition of Phantom of the Opera I have ever heard. I suggest Storytime live from Wacken 2013, with their third singer, Floor Jansen (this was their first singer Tarja).
Agreed! I loved Phantom of the Opera as a kid, but after becoming familiar with this cover…the original score just sounds a little empty to me! I need the metal lol
@@jormapekka5309 Opinion, sure. I prefer Floor over Tarja in some cases and Tarja in others. Different voices, so it's a wonderful thing to have two versions of most songs imho.
@@valerieblackthorn13 I wouldn't really say that. Maybe, but I was searching for a specific style of music back around 2010 and remember landing on Nightwish and heard some things from Tarja. Thought it was too deep and operatic. A great mistake, of course, because had I fallen in love with Nightwish back then I might have seen more of them touring. That's not to say I don't also love Tarja - I do - but at first listen I didn't. I immediately fell in love with Floor though on first listen to her with Nightwish, years later.
I just subscribed, in the hopes that you will do more Nightwish. They are an incredibly versatile band, where every song is wonderful, and every song is different. Each member of this band is an accomplished professional, who plays for the song. There are no egos here. The result is a sum greater than the total of its parts. I see that General Gabriel has already been here. You can't go wrong following his guidance. The songs he has linked are arguably the best recorded, both video and audio, of the many versions of these songs out there. My advice is to pick and choose from that list as you will. You can't go wrong, no matter what you choose.
Hello Justin Burke ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Helsinki in 2005, then together with Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tar-rya], the 1st female singer of the band, and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals) - you just heard her. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile). There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘
@@SatuMSJaaskelainen-le4sc Yeah, but only one of them was worth a crap. Floor and Henk's version might be okay, at best, if you've never seen and heard this one, but after listening to this, it's not even close.
Hi Justin. By reacting to this video, you have summoned the Nightwish Army. Hi 👋. There are 2 Nightwish versions of "Phantom Of The Opera." The one you watched if their first & it features Tarja & Marko. The newest version features their current singer, Floor Jansen & a guest appearance by Henk Poort, who played the title roll of The Phantom for the Dutch version of the stage show. There have been 3 female singers for Nightwish. The first was Tarja. She is magnificent, with the voice of a Siren. Her replacement was Annette. She is a world-class singer & is an equal to pop stars like Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga. Currently, Floor Jansen is the lead singer. Floor is majestic, & most of the fans call her a Valkyrie. On stage, she genuinely looks & sounds like an actual Valkyrie who is just pretending to be an ordinary human. I recommend you watch the 2013 Wacken live version of Ghost Love Score.
Nightwish, Siren, Master Passion Greed, Planet hell... Those are all great songs with both Tarja and Marco. Edit. Not master passion, but it's a superb song by Marco. Tarja is also present, in the lyrics... And especially her husband :x
Master Passion great is crap, as is most of the neo-nightwish songs. The golden Era of Nightwish was ~ 1998-2005. Sure, they're still a decent band, but nothing like they were back then.
No Marco here, but for me, as a Nighwish fan since 1998, this is my favorite Tarja performance. 🎼 Nightwish - Swanheart - From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered HD 🎶 ruclips.net/video/0sc-VNppXhs/видео.html just the ending part when she sings in duet with Emppus guitar is just sooo good.
Nightwish army Connecticut battalion weighing in: I enjoyed your reaction and based on what YOU seemed to enjoy in this one, I am going to suggest you stick with Tarja and do another song from this same End of an Era concert. "I Wish I Had An Angel" But either way...yes. More.

You can search It here on RUclips.
❤
Snap seemed like the same note to my ear
Check more of Nichtwish with Floor Janssen
tarja and marko the possible singers together😊😊
Marko Hietala is the best fucking Phantom of the Opera ever!
NW fans are like piranhas. They'll find you, once you've uploaded one of their songs. It's a solid band with s solid fandom, so have no fear for any weirdoes.
Show Tarja and Marco .🤩🤩🤩
Hello, please give me a link to the song you sing at the beginning of the video
hello the forestella band as I told you before cover this song so beautifully please watch their works and react they are very great they cover many songs so great plz watch one of their performances like despacito ,shape of you ,sweet dreams .....thank you so much for your great reactions
Ahh... Oh Metal, you're la crême de la crême..😌👌💯

🇬🇧 Norfolk reports for duty on this Nightwish journey 😊
More Nightwish please. That's just another day at the office for Nightwish haha. However, I will say, that is hands down the best rendition of Phantom of the Opera I have ever heard. I suggest Storytime live from Wacken 2013, with their third singer, Floor Jansen (this was their first singer Tarja).
Agreed! I loved Phantom of the Opera as a kid, but after becoming familiar with this cover…the original score just sounds a little empty to me! I need the metal lol
Dont even suggest those others over tarja.
@@jormapekka5309 Opinion, sure. I prefer Floor over Tarja in some cases and Tarja in others. Different voices, so it's a wonderful thing to have two versions of most songs imho.
@@ericsaari2901You discovered Nightwish late. That's why you prefer Floor.
I concur.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "

@@Songfugel "Heed this man's message", never heard it put like that before, but I like it!
I concur @@Songfugel
New fan here! This is how I got introduced to them from this cover and I’ve been hooked since. Thank you for that info on them. Amazing !
Tarja Turunen, the symphonic metal goddess
Yeah, that's Nightwish. They're very talented and have a huge repertoire. You can't go wrong regardless of what your next choice of song will be.
I never get tired of watching people's faces the first time they hear Nightwish
I've been down a loophole of reactions now since I can't rehear them for the first time again and it's been 15 years😂
I don't know of any other Rock band that is able to put Phantom on their setlist and deliver such a performance live in concert.
Two times and with two different lead singers.
@@SatuMSJaaskelainen-le4sc i am just glad that Annette didn't try it....
@@SatuMSJaaskelainen-le4sc Yeah, but only one of them was worth a crap. Floor and Henk's version might be okay, at best, if you've never seen and heard this one, but after listening to this, it's not even close.

nightwish a sympfonic metal and not rock
At the same concert they did HIGH HOPE, Marko sang and it was a jaw dropping performance. Highly recommend 😊
Incredible? Of course. Nightwish is incredible!!
I strongly second this triplet of songs.
Tarja in Master Passion Greed? 🤔😬
@@villes3024 true, edited :D
Master Passion great is crap, as is most of the neo-nightwish songs. The golden Era of Nightwish was ~ 1998-2005. Sure, they're still a decent band, but nothing like they were back then.
No Marco here, but for me, as a Nighwish fan since 1998, this is my favorite Tarja performance.

just the ending part when she sings in duet with Emppus guitar is just sooo good.
Yes, and one song they should look at is Pharoah sails to Orion.
Another great song with Tarja and Marko together is "Slaying the Dreamer" from the same End of an Era concert
🥰🇫🇮👋👋 Tarja Turunen & Marco Hietala👍
Nightwish army Connecticut battalion weighing in: I enjoyed your reaction and based on what YOU seemed to enjoy in this one, I am going to suggest you stick with Tarja and do another song from this same End of an Era concert. "I Wish I Had An Angel" But either way...yes. More.
THANKS for some TARJAWISH !!!!!!
TARJA , her rock band and a Brazilian opera singer covered it last night !!!!!!!

Great reaction. Prepare yourselves for the Nightwish army to invade your comments. Incredibly talented band.
