Introverts are probably monopolizing the waitlist😂. Sitting in an intimate group, silent, enjoying a beverage-oh, yeah, reading. Love it! Too bad its not local to me😅

I wish our local library would do something like this for free one evening a week because even though I appreciate public libraries they can be very noisy places these days. Lots of computers, laptops, phones. Kids activities going on, even gaming and talking... It would be nice for bookworms who wish for a quiet atmosphere to just come in and read with no talking. Play some classical music in the background or just have silence for two hours, a social time after to engage in conversation about literature.

LOVE this idea! I came of age in coffeehouse environments before the advent of computers when people would simply read next to a cup of coffee while enjoying small bites like quiche, scones, or lemon squares. How I miss the wooden interiors, the painting on the walls, the academia aesthetic and smell of freshly ground Arabica beans; there was no online rage wars or doomsday scrolling to speak of...those were good times🖋☕❤

Interesting. I haven't come across one of these in the Washington, DC area. I do, however, participate in reading sprints on RUclips that are hosted by various booktubers which sounds like a similar activity. The host(s) start a timer that might run anywhere from 20 minutes to 30 or 35 minutes and everyone just reads their individual books. When the timer goes off, there is chat time on the side of the video that you can participate in, talking about what you're reading or other book related topics. Then, the host(s) set the timer again. This can go on for a couple of hours.

@@sheilaenglish9738 A number of them, actually. I read a lot of romance, so I've joined sprints run by booktubers on RUclips who focus on that genre. But I've also joined sprints run by general fiction readers or readers of other genres. If you start following your favorite booktubers, I think you'll run across a few times when they'll host reading sprints. If you don't have favorite booktubers, just start following people who read and review the type of books you like to read. Or ... even easier. Put "reading sprints" in the youtube search engine.
