    6:20 W-wha... Wait, what's the negative stereotype about glasses? Is there a negative stereotype about women with glasses now? Does Gaston over here want his woman to be unable to read? Is he afraid she'll use her glasses to see all of his red flags?

    • @constancevonnuvelle5265
      @constancevonnuvelle5265 4 месяца назад +9

      could accidentally leave the glasses laying around and set his stash of body building magazines on fire
      probably it's more along the lines of the assumption some have that glasses=ugly, which then leads to 'if she can't even dress up for me now, she'll just get worse over the years and will look even more ragged/neglect her appearence even more'

      It’s actually very old, there’s a saying “men don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses,” and then the movie “How to Marry a Millionaire” Marilyn Monroe’s character is basically blind because she won’t wear her glasses. She misquotes the line “you know what they say? Men aren’t attentive to girls who girls who wear glasses”

    • @S3lkie-Gutz
      @S3lkie-Gutz 4 месяца назад +2

      oh man your comment just aged me fifty years. this isn’t a new thing there’s always been negative stereotypes about glasses even though they’re medical devices and people need them to see, they’re seen as ugly and for “nerds” or “geeks”. go watch any makeover movie from the 90’s or early 2000’s and see how many “ugly” people wear glasses.

    • @anacsadder
      @anacsadder 4 месяца назад +8

      @@S3lkie-Gutz I knew about the "ugly" nerd/geek thing. The part that surprised me is that instead of saying "don't bother with women who wear glasses," he said "run from women who wear glasses." Usually tattoos and piercings are stereotyped as meaning the person is dangerous or promiscuous, and glasses are stereotyped as uncool, unsexy, and uninterested in dating (unless we're talking about the sexy librarian stereotype, I guess). I was trying to figure out why women with glasses were being lumped in with the "dangerous" stereotype by men now.
      It's probably an evolution of the "glasses=nerd" stereotype where glasses=educated, educated=feminist, and feminist=dangerous. It's just weird because in the 90's and 00's, my takeaway was that glasses were the complete opposite of tattoos and piercings.

      I sat thinking about this for a minute, the difference between a man refusing to tattoo a woman versus woman refusing to tattoo a man.
      There could be fear either way. The woman is in fear of physical violence/death.
      The man could be in fear of allegations of sexual harassment/assault, etc, it doesn't necessarily come from a place of misogyny. But the difference between the threat is definitely not comparable so I am much more sympathetic to a woman refusing or limiting how she takes on male clients than a man unwilling to take on female clients.

      I hope that one day we can accept everyone's boundaries without calling them a (wo)man hater.
      I'd also like to point out that men free or woman free spaces can be nice for either gender (for various reasons, again). It's good to have options.

Like, yeah, the neck is super visible and hard to hide from everyone else, but you rarely actually see it yourself. We see our hands more than any other part of our own body, so she probably has a lot more of an active awareness of the change than she did with her neck.

One of the few people you should be safe to get a matching tattoo with is your mum. The betrayal there would be soul crushing. Like, your husband cheating on you is bad enough, but your mum sleeping with your husband....that is awful because you not only lose your marriage but also the person you would normally turn to for comfort over it. 2:59 my son is a tattoo artist here in New Mexico, and he travels all over the United States to feature. His specialty is black ink and shading, and I had mentioned a post on one of your other videos of how he waited to get his face and throat tattooed once he was successful at his job, he promised me he would wait and when he got his neck tattoo completed I think that was the hardest one I’ve ever seen him recover from he couldn’t even get out of bed for a week lol

    You are gorgeous!
    You have “pretty privilege”.
    I showed my mother this video cause I wanted her to see the senior citizen part. Her immediate reaction was, “Is she a model? She is beautiful, she looks like a pin up model!” I had to actually start the video over, because she was gushing over you. It was so sweet. But it’s true, you are gorgeous, your tattoos are amazing, and your accent is beautiful.

    The only thing I disagree with the female tattoo studio owner is when she said her tattoos are a style for women. It rubs me the wrong way when something is labelled “feminine” and “why would men want that”. Men can want traditionally “feminine” things, I’m so tired of these stereotypes living on. Obviously most of the men must have not wanted her style and requested maybe something else who knows, she fully has the right to her own safety as well so I don’t disagree with her rule, but the sentiment of something being labelled “girly” and not for “men” or vs versa annoys me.

      I support her right to tattoo and not tattoo anyone she doesn't want to let me just disclaimer that.
      I agree with you 100% on the men wanting traditionally feminine things and even women wanting traditionally masculine things. Also nonbinary people wanting whatever they desire.
      I am a lesbian and I was wondering what about queer people? Does she tattoo gay men?
      Because it seems she just talked about cishet men.

    • @mentalalchemy4819
      @mentalalchemy4819 16 дней назад

      That wasn’t her point at all. Her point was that men consistently made her and other women feel unsafe and uncomfortable so she created a safe tattoo space for women. And that this is extra necessary in a male dominated field. It’s not about stereotypes she’s just addressing the reality of the world we live in as women.

    When my Dad was in his nursing home, all the residents had an opportunity to get a temporary tattoo. He got the biggest one they had and put it on his upper arm so he could look like me. He was so proud and happy when I walked into see that. I felt very honoured that he wanted to be like me. I miss him so very much, but it's memories like this that make me happy the most.

    Shading is the worst for me because they keep circling over the same irritated skin over and over. The surface area of the needles is spread out which i think helps diffuse the overall pain a bit and is why i think some people prefer shading... But for me, even with the pain concentrated in one point with linework, its a single pass and its done. Shading/colorwork is terrible for me.

    I've only had 2 tattoos that have had real lining versus shading, and I have to 100% agree that shading isn't as bad for me as lining. I think it's more surface area being done, so something something pain spread out. I have a rose on my arm that is surrounded by a rainbow, and the coloring hurt so much less than the lining itself.(although tbf the rainbow around the rose was done right after getting a dragonfly with TONS of fine details done on my chest, so my perspective may be a bit skewed)

    My only question with the no man rule is... does she apply that to transwomen too? because that would leave an awful taste in my mouth. Or if transmen for example are okay because "well i don't view them as real men" ( that is to say if a tattoo artist meets a transman, talks to them and says "No this person knows how to conduct themselves around a woman, that is why i can tattoo them" because transmen grew up with misogyny that is of course something different ) like. It's such a difficult topic

    I'm heavily tattooed and never experienced a tattoo regret except with my newest piece. I wanted it, it's well done, it's beautiful, but instantly when it was done I got 35673 better ideas I could've gotten tattooed instead of it. This has never happened to me before and it was so friggin shocking lol!
    I suspect there could be several reasons for it.
    1. It's my first tongue-in-cheek tattoo of a random thing I just like a lot. Everything else I have is super carefully planned (for years) both placement and subject-wise, and they also have super deep meanings. Some of them are memorial tattoos.
    2. There was no stencil. It was my first freehand tattoo. I trusted the tattoo artist 100%, although I couldn't see all details when we started. Now I've decided I'll never ever want a freehand tattoos again. It's either with stencil or I won't get the tattoo. There's one major anatomical thing in the tattoo I don't like at all, but I didn't notice it until it was done.
    3. I accidentally found out the tattoo artist (I've known superficially for years) is a Trumper. We've always talked about everything so we talked in passing about world politics and now I just remember he's a Trumper and I'll never get tattooed by him again when I look at the tattoo.
    Sooo yeahh. Probably gonna get lasered at some point. :(

    I'm with you - lining hurts WAY more than shading!!! I need some time for the endorphins to start flowing. And throat tattoos are spicy AF, I love mine but it's going to be a while before I add to it (I just have the front done, I want to go up to my chin, and around the sides at some point).
    I've been getting tattooed by my partner for his very first (and second) tattoos of his apprenticeship. I'm so proud of him but it hurts! It's slow because he's learning and checking in with his mentor a lot. You don't realise how much the speed of the artist matters - but I wouldn't trade it for anything, I'm so happy for my man :)

    I went through tattoo shock. It isn't the quality of the tattoos. They are both amazing tattoos. It's the placement that is off. But I have a design idea that will make them cohesive with each other. Hopefully, the idea looks as good as I imagine it. I currently can't afford it, I'm in the process of saving money to officially get it done.
