Outstanding video. Just got a vintage 794 and your clear instructions helped me thread the machine right first time. This was a machine sold as “non-functional/for parts only”- it sews (serges?) like a dream! Also, the position/clocking of the second looper guide at 6:30 was slightly different than my new machine- I adjusted mine to fit and everything works great. That twisting a loop in the thread trick was amazingly effective. Thanks for taking the time, you saved me a ton of time and frustration.
I love your video. Just rewatched it. It helps me so much every time I have to rethread. I have not found a better video regarding this serger. Would be great if you had more videos regarding maintenance etc. Thanks so much!
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this video. My mom and I spent hours trying to figure out how to rethread the serger. Your clear instructions are very much appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you so so so much. I have a second hand 796 and your instructions have saved the day. Your video explained everything very clearly and I followed you and success the machine is now threaded and sewing correctly. Thank you for doing the video. I have subscribed and will get some new needles - hope you have a video on how to change them. A very happy sewer from Melbourne Australia 👍👍🙌😊
Oh, my goodness! Thank you so very much for your clear instructions! I inherited one of these machines and have not used it due to frustration about threading it properly. I now can use it without loosing my religion!
Thank you for excellent instructions on threading this serger. I picked up one from a church thrift shop. Hopefully it works good after learning how to thread it.
This is an AWESOME tutorial on threading, thank you! I’m using a “big eye” beading needle (which is very flexible& bendy) to get into the small hidden looper holes on my machine. I like knowing I can just twist the thread! Cool!! I have a 603a 3-thread machine, but the loopers look identical to these. My manual instructions call for the lower looper to thread first (which I thought was odd! But it’s a very old machine) and then it has me winding the upper looper thread over and under the lower thread, kinda kooky-like, to get the thread where it needs to go. I suspect that if I thread it THIS way, then turn the wheel one rotation, the thread should just land in the right location!! I’m gonna try this method and see!! Thank you!
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for this video. I struggled to thread the 796 - the lopper - orange. Showing the clear instructions I very much appreciate it, Thank you
A million thanks. I bought a second-hand one and it is thanks to this tutorial that I learned how to use it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Thank you so much! When I got my 794 secondhand, I could never get it threaded properly. The manual shows nothing of the little holes at the end of the loopers. Thanks to your video, I can finally (consistently) use my serger!
This is great. A thing I've discovered just now is when it comes to the tricky bit of threading the 'orange' looper is to use a beading needle. Put the beading needle through the looper from the front. Thread the protruding beading needle from the left hand side of the machine. Pull the threaded needle through from the front of the machine carrying the looper thread. If the needle isn't long enough you can thread the needle with an extra bit of thread from the front. I have the 796. So much less hassle than using tweezers for this bit.
Gracias por el video , es complicado encontrar videos de estás overlock, tengo la 795 y no he podido encontrar un prensatelas que le quede , ojalá me puedas decir cuál le puedo poner porfavor y una pregunta ... Have a Pfaff 796 I was trying to check out the upper knife and the silver knob fell off. I can’t figure out how to get the knob back on so that it will operate to be able to disengage the knife. How far on does the silver knob go back onto the shaft? It has a set screw that if tightened it will not allow the knife to be moved. I followed the manual directions to push the knife unit to the right then turn the knob clockwise until it clicks which I did. Then I tried to unscrew the screw that holds the upper knife on. It would not unscrew but sent the knife further around than where the initial click happened. At that point I tried to get the knife back to the “clicks position and the silver knob fell off. The spring inside this knife unit makes it difficult for me to continue trying to get this to work properly. Any help you can give would be very helpful. Thanks. The reason I was checking out the knives was that the left needle thread sometimes doesn’t catch the looper threads then when I chain after stitching the left thread is partly outside the chain. I read that it could be dull knives that cause a slight bunching as it tries to cut the fabric making the fabric move slightly thus the left needle thread sometimes misses the loops. I don’t know but am trying to figure this out.
Buonasera ,avrei bisogno delle viti x gli aghi x la taglicuce hobby look 794 ma niente. Potrei avere un aiutino da voi dove cercare? Confido in voi nell'attesa cordiali saluti grazie

I can't seem to unscrew the needle set screws using a 1.5 mm allen wrench. Are you sure this is the correct size?
