It’s amazing, I haven’t spent one second studying Thai for the last six months, but I can still understand everything they say! Keep the videos coming man!
This is the video that I could understand the most so far (~90%). Also, these 20-minute long videos are so much more digestible! I have really bad ADHD, but I very rarely lose my focus.
Thank you Jon for this video. I really enjoy listening to these two talented teachers’ conversation. I am able to understand the content close to 100 percent without watching the video at this point of my Thai learning career. I just listened to the conversation and was surprised that I understood the content of the material here without visual support.
This 20 minute format is much more level appropriate than the B0 ones too. Also seems they're just speaking more clearly, or perhaps that could just mean a leap in comprehension on my part.
I agree. The B0s are just fine as B1s, but they miss the mark as true absolute beginner material in my opinion as well. I won't list out the reasons here, but, yes, I agree with you. It was suggested by the first case study to roll the B0s into the B1 playlist (such as alternating them every other video with these B1 videos, for example) and just do away with the concept of B0. Eventually I might put up a poll in the community section, and if the majority agrees with that, I will probably do it. I don't have the time for that now though.
@@ComprehensibleThai After having just completed the B0 playlist, I feel super prepared for B1 and my ability to understand so much already really surprises me (remembering how completely lost I felt starting the very first video just 19 days ago with zero Thai experience). So, the current format seems to be working well for me. I remember there being about 3 frustratingly hard videos in the list, but there where many more gems in there. Anyways, a huge thanks for putting all of these videos up!!!
@@ComprehensibleThai Rather than alternating them, with a little more effort, we might be able to determine an optimal order. I'd be willing to assist.
Another super video, which was easy to get through, I commented the other day on video 1 that I was finding the format of the B1 playlist even more enjoyable and this vid proved it was no fluke. I would say I understood at least 90% if not more, probably would have been close to that even without the visual cues. However I’d probably attribute that to the fact eating is something very close to my heart :) Starting the next video now and this will be the first time I’ve ever watched two back to back but not feeling it to be a chore at all. Thanks!
I followed around 60% or so. It probably would have been more if I didn't start getting hungry and distracted wondering if it was too late to order Thai food (yes :( ) I think this is the right level for me.
Thank you for the video! I like the shorter format compared to the B0 videos with Kru Ae. As a more general note, I was thinking that the sound quality must be pretty important for a good assimilation of the language. I'm wondering if perhaps it's not good enough sometimes, for example here, especially Kru Fah's sound. Not only is it often cut at the beginning, but the low quality means that certain sounds become blurry (as when you're on the phone and have to say "B like Buddha" :D). Perhaps this should be something to discuss with the teachers? Of course, audio material is expensive and it's probably better to invest on new lessons, but I still wanted to raise the topic, to see if it's something that had already been considered.
ํYou are totally correct about the sound. Kruu Riam and Kruu Fah both got new fancy microphones along the way, so at some point you will notice a massive improvement in their sound quality. The videos in the playlists are not always in the order in which they were made, so after the sound improves, you may see a couple more with crappy sound here and there. I really appreciate all of your feedback. It is very helpful. Glad you are watching the videos :)
I love the shorter format on these videos, also the method is excellent, even though i havent studied for months i can quickly catch up on many words i had forgotten and naturally learn new words in the context. Keep it up!
That's great! No need to study any longer. Just follow the playlists here and you will be good to go. Thanks for the lesson, I always enjoy learning about food :) It was a little confusing about the time (am vs pm), and what meals they were talking about, but I just guessed and I think I understood about 75% of this lesson. Thanks :)
They do at first. There will be tons of sounds that sound similar at first, but over time your brain will naturally begin to distinguish between them. That is one of the reasons you do not want to start speaking yet. Once you start speaking, you form a more fixed idea/pattern of what the sound for a word is, and inevitably at this point it will be incorrect. Incredibly, this actually affects the way you hear the word as well, and for someone who engages in early output, in order to distinguish the sounds properly, they will need someone to consciously point out the difference, which is a whole lot more work (and money if you are using a teacher and not a friend or spouse).

Will do Aaron! Glad you are back at it!
Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I would put my comprehension at around 70%.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you again.
ขอบคุณมากครับ😀🙏
First time commenting after having completed the whole B0 level (loved Kru Ae and Kru Ying content!)
Understood about 85%
Cool video
👍👍🙏
ผมกินแต่ผลไม้สุก😋🥑🍈🍉
% time I could follow along with the general message/meaning of what is being said: 55%
Was able to follow about 75-85 percent of the story. I’m starting to think the sound for “month” and “drink” sound the same 😅

Totally lost me.
