it's very sad what we have done to our beautiful planet. we have destroyed it, our only home. our last hope is to conserve, recycle, save lives, etc.

We have to save the Blues. I'm no activist, but as far as we know, this is the heaviest creature to ever inhabit our planet. Special interest is needed here.

yo o I believe I said "as far as we know", but to think that there is anything larger than Blue Whales in our oceans today is a bit naive.

I see I have had a few comments against my dream and I just want to say I'm not someone who even has an instagram or ignorant about these animals but I have to say that probably my dream never comes true because I really fear open waters and big things in the water make me feel icky, some kind of fobia from childhood but I think you're right it's probably best to leave these animals alone if you're not working with them or study them professionally. I have heard that in some countries they will bring a lot of tourists to see whales and not safely for the animals or even the tourists. So unprofessional and harming. So better to leave them alone than chasing them for an "experience". Many people mean well but doesn't really understand what they are doing, it really doesn't make it ok though.

It's crazy to think that we will never know if there was a bigger species way back because there are underwater animals who specialize in decomposing and eating bone. If it weren't for those creatures, we would find amazing fossils nowadays maybe even bigger than a blue whale who knows.

It is worth mentioning though, that blue whale numbers were at around 5000 in 2002 and nowadays they're close to 25000. Granted that's nowhere near the original 200k+ population, but still, they're being protected now and there is hope for them.

this brings lots of insight. humans are their own bane and cure. it's sad seeing that we have so much potential and knowledge but we waste on things that will only bring failure and pain. we are slowly destroying ourselves but we have a chance to fix that. earth will survive but we might not. and maybe that's for the better good but there is a chance we have to change, so let's not waste it.

Interesting fact: (however about sperm whales)
A space shuttle launch is about 180 db-
A sperm whale's click can be over 200 db, which is more than enough to vibrate a human being to death.
Researchers believe they use this ability to stun their main prey, giant squids, making them the largest animal on the planet to use audio-offencive tactics.
They also use this to communicate with other sperm whales to potentially talk to other whales on the other side of the globe.
Look up James Nestor's video on sperm whales- super interesting.

dear god that man would be an absolute nightmare to work for/with. hes reaming his divers out for not being in position and not getting the shot. hes just yelling from the boat and pointing. the divers cant see what he sees from his crows nest. That aside he was certainly under alot of stress to get these shots which i firmly agree are something worth doing. While I havent seen his movie, im always happy to see someone championing the giants of the oceans in a way that can actually help instead of making people view anyone who tries to protect wildlife as being eco terrorists like ALF&ELF (thanks PETA). So while he does seem to be an absolute jackass, it in no way affects the mans passion and drive to try to educate ppl and save these giants is an exceptional and vital achievement

Its actually financially perfectly doable to stop minimize pollution and waste. Not to mention profitable on long run, easy to see looking at what direction we are going. Put enough tax on waste and market will do the rest. Tax should be way to guide market so it serves public good. At the moment you can't really see too much care for health of us and planet.
