I’m new at this type of stuff; chicken breeding, their eggs and everything, but this seems very interesting. You keep them in a very nice area; looks like they have enough space to wander and eat.
Dear Robert - those living breathing chickens in 20 most different looking varieties are wonderful to watch in their outdoor environment! In those many close ups one feels very much connected to those beautiful creatures. Loveley pictures, as allways, thank you so much!
We are happiest with red star and barred rock brown egg layers. The barred rock being just a bit more accepting of humans. I have raised about 150 and more variety and these two have become our favorite for egg layers. I am not against bunting or using the chickens for meat birds. There are many that are better than the red star and barred rock. I don't like to kill anything anymore. I don't even fish. I have had over 1,000 deaths in my long tenure as a firefighter-paramedic. It has affected me. We have poultry for eggs and pets. We have ducks and turkey as well. And a search and rescue dog, the last of my 27, that herds the ducks and keeps the rooster from constantly attacking my daughter. Some of your top twenty I have raised when we also had meat birds. If your flock is small enough you will notice differences between individual birds. Good show. Now, everyone, go out and enjoy your chickens
Thank you Robert! Here in America we also have many beautiful breeds available, but I must say that you have some of the most beautiful chickens that I have ever seen. Also, I've never seen or known many of the breeds that you showcased. Wonderful video!
I have chosen, to date, Ameraucana, Ancona, Barnevelder, Bielefelder, Jaerhon, Exchequer Leghorn, Black Copper Marans, Minorca, New Hampshire Red, Buff Orpington, Barred Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red, Welsumer, Silver Lace Wyandotte, Easter Egger, Black Australorp, Buckeye and Delaware. Your videos have shown me a wider selection to chose from. Thank you.
WOW!! An awesome video, well put together, lots of info and narrated and scripted perfectly!! Great job and thank you for the wealth of information!!! I love Chickens, and ALL animals, LOL!!! GOD Bless!!!
Mr. Hock!! What beautiful poultry you videotaped for us to see. I was just glued to the monitor as it finished.... way to quickly it seemed. I do hope that you will make another one soon.
I really enjoyed your footage, you have my greatest respect because I can hardly take a decent photo of my chickens, much less such beautiful scenes. I get a kick out of each of my chickens, they are so individual and interesting. I have had some trouble this year with hawks, it is a challenge to give them freedom and keep them safe.
Pay attention to the crows around you. They make certain warning calls, when a hawk is going to come around. Once you hear it take them in. That's what I do and I have 2 hawks that have our yard as part of their territory. And there's been some times when I got them in a couple minutes before a hawk showed up.
Have you all the 20 variety or kinds of chicken in your farm? That nice and great info to those who want to start a small chicken farm. Did you selling also a fair of chicken and their kinds? Thank you
Very well done Robert... Marvelous video I love all and each breed of chicken which u show us in the video... I wish I have a large backyard to put all these beautys with me... Keep it up and make more Videos for us.... Regards
Robert, Thank you for this enlightening video. While being familiar with most US chickens I was delighted to learn of so many other breeds apparently only available in Europe. They all looked so healthy and active.
Hi Robert, I really like the Swedish Flower Chicken, as you suggested ! they are hard to find here in the US, but I haven't given up looking. Thanks, All the Best !!! Ron S.
Greetings to you Sir from North Dakota USA! I should add great job using English, I only speak enough Spanish to get into trouble. So my hat is off to you!
Robert - a really interesting choice of wonderful chickens. The variety is fascinating. Thank you for taking the time to explain all their attributes. I'm starting with 9 Cream Legbars which hatched 3 weeks ago. Where next I wonder?
Great video very educational I would love to raise some Sundheimer's on our farm I hate to hear of breeds becoming extinct that's really sad for something that's been around for so long to suddenly be gone
I really enjoyed seeing all the varieties and their beautiful colors! Thank you for taking time to make this video....I love chickens. Yours have a gorgeous environment and are very healthy looking. I was wondering how many chickens you normally have in total?
Hello Robert, Wonderful video - Are you familiar with the Niederrheiner breed? I have just added two of the gold (Lemon Cuckoo) to my flock. So far they seem very gentle and inquisitive. Glen C Texas
I find Ameraucana one of the best chicken breed. They have a tail unlike Araucana. They do good in the winter, good in the summer and lay lots of blueish eggs!
What a real delight to see the show you put on my friend. I appreciate the insights as well. Our Aracauna chickens are probably a mix of the other French breed the favarolles. They are sturdy and disease resistant and tough about living in low maintenance near feral conditions.
Thank you very much! Happy you have made sch good experiences with the Araucana. They are gorgeous. Greetings and all the best wishes for you from Austria :-D
Sir Good Day.. You Have Nice and Good Chicken and Excellent info for laying eggs.. If Theres A Vorverk and lakenvelders and That Black and White leghorn here in Philippines i will buy for a pair. Hope someday.. thanks for the video.. Two Thumbs up for you..
The Wynedotte you said was Columbian we call those “Brahma”. We have some black australorps that have been fantastic. We also have Americaunas who have little gray beards and have been great.
Caroline King, Robert Hock knows his poultry and I do not think he is mistaken here. I always look to the comb type to help distinguish the Columbian Wyandotte from the Brahma, Columbian Rock and other breeds with this coloring pattern. Don’t you just love Mr. Hock’s beautiful vids?
Hello sir is it possible to make a video to bring up first day chicks to a full chicken. What kind of medicine should we give them at what time and what age.what kind of environment and what kind of temperature and humidity in the brooder

Love to see chickens free range and living how they should be, foraging and rooting around. Good for the soil too. How nature was intended.
