🚨NEW FREE WORKSHOP FOR 2022🚨 Learn how to create a PROFITABLE handmade business online without keeping up with social media 🔽 Watch the free workshop here: bit.ly/3KU1Spj
I started my business over the summer and I've been getting steady customers but they've mostly been friends and family who I'm so grateful for! I'm ready for the next step in my business and these were all really great tips.
That's great, Gabrielle! Sales from friends and family are also helpful for you to see how you want to prep and package orders. Good luck building your business in the coming year!
I managed to tune it out but it was kinda freaking me out for a moment I didn’t know if my phone was picking up a radio signal or what!! Your video is still great and helpful!! Maybe you had a browser open playing news over and over or someone was watching something like a neighbor... which makes me want to ask where you got your mic!!! Lol or what camera are you using it just be a really good mic in the camera! Don’t worry though I don’t want to discourage you, your video is great very informative I am subscribing for more advice!
Creative Hive I was not. Just listening on my TV. The background noise I’m hearing is also your voice so I wondered if it was an audio-type-echo-glitch. I tried turning up the volume to make out what was being said but then your audio was SOO loud it didn’t help me make out exactly what the words were, but it definitely sounded like your voice. I chalked it up to being a delayed echo recording of whatever you were saying, but on like a few second delay.
I am just starting out trying to start my Handmade jewelry business, which was a hobby of mine. I keyed in How to start my handmade jewelry & your video came up! Which I'm so glad it did...Thank you for helping me to get started. Giving me some direction!
I've had a jewelry design business (on and off) since 1983. I'm an old timer so I mostly have done art fairs and shown in galleries. At Chicago show a wardrobe stylist bought one of my necklaces and it was worn by an actor in an award winning movie. I have never ventured online- until now.......I'm going to try to give it a go. Since Covid none of my galleries are open and my income has dried up- all my shows were cancelled as well. The hard part is taking pics of everything- I probably have 2000 one of a kind pieces. But I will just take it slowly but surely. You are spot on with your advice. Thank-you so much for your educational vids. Back in 2014 I got fed up when the building that my art studio was located was sold. I had to move and I sold all my equipment!!!!!!! I sold rolling mill, bench shear, 9 torches, micro tools, my foredom, tumblers, drills, sanders, buffers, gems, stones, you name it. I could kick myself because right now Im replacing everything. UGGG
That sounds so frustrating, Cynthia! You've done this so long though, I bet you will be able to adapt your business and get back up and running in no time.
I have been loving all your videos. Just started my own jewelry business two months ago, and found this to be helpful. I have been struggling a bit getting started on the marketing aspect.
That's wonderful, Maureen, and I'm so glad to hear it! I do have some marketing videos here that you may find helpful: ruclips.net/video/nbS1dp-SZE0/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/vlmu5mvbrqo/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/6l9YR6Xi1vk/видео.html
I thoroughly enjoyed this video with tips and tricks. I just placed my two- weeks with my 9-5 company and made several pieces of jewelry I was factoring on putting on Etsy, come start of next week... the idea of having Shopify is very intriguing now though. I also have a designer who reached out to pair my pieces with her clothing. Super stoked!
That is really amazing news, Hermanus! Congreatulations! Shopify is an amazing e-commerce website builder, and I would highly recommend it. You should definitely have your own site even when using Etsy.
Thank you Mei, your videos have been a big help for me. I started my business years ago but only decided to actully step up and focus on it last year. I didn't know anything about marketing or how to take proper pictures oh and pricing... that's always a challenge for me. However I'm always learning and growing and I'm so grateful for your help.
Thank you mei. Ive had my etsy as a hobbyist for over 10 years. Took a sabbatical this year to refocus on it all and finding i really want to restart but remain a hobbyist.
That's so good that you know that of yourself, Esther! For many people their hobby becomes "work" and it loses the fun aspect of it. You can always take some of these tips that you find helpful without eventually scaling up. As long as you're enjoying creating, that's the most important thing.
I started a RUclips channel for my rabbit rescue and bunny care 4 years ago. As I am starting to implement techniques to take my handmade business seriously. I have found that so much of the techniques used in gaining subscribers & creating an audience for RUclips channel are the same techniques used in launching a successful website or handmade business
It was really really useful for me I really love desining jewerlies and I have enough passion and talent for this art it is my hobby now but I want to build my career base of this art .I didn't know how to start you just pointing every thing that I need for starting in the business thank you so much .I will follow you always will watch all your video and share with my friends al well thank you again for your useful information.

you just gave me a lot of good advice i didn't know. now maybe i can get going with starting my new jewelry business in the right direction. i really want to be independent and take some of the financial burden off of my husband...thank you mei
I subscribed you coz you are sooooo honest and ur ideas touched me... and i was a sales manager in uae Jewelery shop and planing to start my own at home thank you for sharing ur knowledge. Bless u..
Excellent advice and I can not begin to tell you how much I appreciate the Free information. Just starting out is so costly in itself you gave to tips that is so worthy and didn t cost me anything! I create Paper Jewelry and and I know it very competitive but I have my own style. Would love to hear more form you. Thank you
OMG thank you, this was sooo helpful. I'm just starting my own jewelry business and trying to learn as much as possible. I'm definitely following you, thanks a lot
I would also suggest for pictures. If you’re new and choose to go with a manufacturer instead. You can find a CAD designer online to make realistic renders and use those images online to sell before getting anything made. This cuts cost with inventory and you’d be surprised how many big brands do this to get customers.

That was great. I think this methodology applies to any type of handmade product, not just jewellery. I’m very interested in the thought behind using Spotify so will learn up more on that. Thanks Mei. Great as always. Kuljeet
I have opened my Etsy shop to sell my handmade macrame jewelry for a while. But no sale until now. Thank you for your sharing, I think need to try other ways to sell my products.
Thanks for the sub! If you're looking for a more in-depth training that will help you find your target market and beyond, I'd love to suggest my A Sale A Day business system: www.creativehiveco.com/a-sale-a-day-business/
Hi Mei! I have decided to start my business and your video is a boon at right time for me. Thank you for the video, its very helpful. I am certainly taking some of the points you've mentioned to build my empire :)
Hi! Thank you so much for this video!! The only thing I’m concerned about (not about the marketing aspect) is how would you go about sizing your bracelets? Would you just make it out of the stretchy thread or what? Sorry, I just stumbled upon this business idea only tonight, am considering it, and was wondering. Thanks!
You can make it out of stretchy thread if you want to, or you can do chain links and offer to size. You could make a bracelet like a bangle at a specific size and offer it as is, or you could make one as a sample and then offer custom sizing made to order. There's lots of options depending on what type of bracelet you're making.
Loved your impartial advice l have made a lot of jewelry by hand for all sorts of people but not for the very classy one’s wish me luck let’s see where it takes me.
I've been making and selling jewelry for 10 years on etsy. I do need to get off of there. At least make it a second source of income. I am not computer literate at all. I'll really have to learn to make my own website and that will take a very long time. I do agree with you though. It's hard to get seen if you don't start out of the gate fast. Wonderful advice. Thank you, Mei.
Piper, this blog post might be helpful to you: www.creativehiveco.com/how-to-build-your-own-website-with-shopify-in-under-1-hour/ Also, in my A Sale A Day course we work though the building of the website together. www.creativehiveco.com/a-sale-a-day-business/
Mae- another idea is home shows- in the past I've done really well with those- it's an excuse for a party! Anyway- I made up a brochure and handle like a Mary Kay lady. I actually listened to some of her tapes. And I let the potential party giver know that my prices are fair and reasonable, not like the 60 dollar candles- haha. I wear my jewelry out- everywhere- library, grocery store, bank- and people will say- oh I like that necklace and I whip out a brochure and say- want to win some free jewelry? And I also let them know it''s not expensive like other company's products. Some folks are uncomfortable with this- not ME- I'm not uncomfortable making moola. Some of these shows can bring in like 6-800 bucks- that may not seem like a lot but it's good for one night and Im not sitting out roasting at an art fair that cost me 300 bucks to do.
@@CreativeHiveCo omg you replied?! i’m totally star struck!! have been binge watching your videos and you give me so much inspiration and motivation🙏🏽 thank you beautiful!!
This is so informative I love how you deliver the information and so clear, I'm starting a handmade business called Minutiae on facebook and I was so scared because I didnt know what to do next since I don't know about anything at selling items.. I'm binging watching all your informative videos I also taking note as well Thank youuuu!!
Thanks for your helpful video knowledge for jewelry business starters. I live in Canada, so could you please provide jewelry material suppliers in Canada? I have created a little collection of my handcrafted jewelry as a hobby, now I want to sell them. I need some help to setup a website platform to sell.
Thank you so much for watching!! ❤️❤️ For the website platform, you have so many options out there. If you can, I highly recommend you build your own website though. Shopify is a great option. I think my blog posts below will be helpful for you too (see below). Feel free to browse through my blog page or use the Search bar if you need some resources for your business. www.creativehiveco.com/etsy-vs-shopify-pros-and-cons-of-each/ www.creativehiveco.com/40-three-top-reasons-love-shopify/ www.creativehiveco.com/30-shopify-etsy-store/ www.creativehiveco.com/how-to-build-your-own-website-with-shopify-in-under-1-hour/ For the jewelry material suppliers in Canada, you can find lots of them via Google. Here're a few I found on Google if you want to check them out: jewelleryschool.ca/our_suppliers.html www.gessweincanada.com/default.asp www.lacytools.ca/Articles.asp?ID=1 workingsilver.com/ www.butterflybeads.ca/ stonesandfindings.com/ All the best!! I know you got this!! ❤️❤️🎉🎉
Thank you so much for this video and all the info and ideas. I am really grateful and will check out your other videos. I am just about to start selling my jewellery pieces which range from one-of -a -kind pieces mainly using precious metals and gemstones and also more accessible Boho type designs as well as pieces that bridge the gap between these two types. I love your idea of reaching out to influencers as I have been making contact with people online in a category that is not about jewellery- but hey- they may well appreciate some little gifts! Best wishes. xx
You can register with Shopify if you are going to create an account with them anyway. Here is information for setting up a business in Singapore: www.acra.gov.sg/how-to-guides/setting-up-a-local-company
Thankyou so much for posting this video :) I am currently doing a ton of online research on how I can build my handmade jewelry business and you are a true inspiration. Thankyou for your helpful tips! I am hoping to one day grow more and more. Did you ever do craft fairs? And if so where did you start? I'd love to hear your story!
I don't have one, BeAsA Roze, but you can search online to find tutorials for adding scents. The scents you choose are going to be a personal preference, too, so once you get a good technique you're going to want to play around a bit!
Drawing n crafts n making jewellerys is one of my biggest dreams and i pray to GOD THE ALMIGHTY EVERY DAY TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL N HELP MY ENTIRE FAMILY. GOD PLEASE BLESS ME N HELP IN EVERY WAY THANK U JESUS FOR EVERYTHING N THANK U DEAR FOR THE VIDEO I APPRECIATE IT.🥰😘🤩😍❤😇
This was great. Are their any rules against having something in the package you send to an etsy buyer to direct them to your own website or like ask them for their email?

That's a fun idea, Cynthia! I've heard of people doing this and having a good time with it.

For the website platform, you have so many options out there. If you can, I highly recommend you build your own website though. Shopify is a great option. I think my blog posts below will be helpful for you too (see below). Feel free to browse through my blog page or use the Search bar if you need some resources for your business.

@@CreativeHiveCo Thank you for including us! We loved your video ❤
Best wishes. xx
You can definitely give it a try, Julie! Make sure you feel comfortable with the terms of the exchange and see what happens!

Hi May, would it be better to purchase a domain name before starting with Shopify and do you need to register as a business owner in Singapore?
You can register with Shopify if you are going to create an account with them anyway. Here is information for setting up a business in Singapore: www.acra.gov.sg/how-to-guides/setting-up-a-local-company

Thankyou for your helpful tips! I am hoping to one day grow more and more. Did you ever do craft fairs? And if so where did you start? I'd love to hear your story!

Do you have a video about adding scents to products?

Hi Mohammad! You can check out the links below for some reference. Hope that helps! Good luck!! ❤️❤️
