That 19 mile stretch of ridge top gravel road can be a ball buster when they drop 6" inches of fresh gravel on it. You guys lucked out. Looked like packed dirt. Great trip. Awesome footage.
All the old farm houses and old towns..... love places like that! Reminds me of trips up the BRP with my dad....I would take off down side roads in VA and we would find the coolest places doing that!
Thanks for watching man! Means a ton!! Check em all out, they don't do quite as good view wise as the little Honda ones, but that's okay, they sure were fun to make!!
Ok Chris, after watching this episode I am officially moving the MABDR up on my list of must do rides 😂 I’m thinking the spring of 2024 perhaps 🤔 I am really enjoying this adventure and watching you and Cody having so much fun riding this route! Well done and keep the fun alive! 👏👏👏👍🍻😎 ~Forrest
Heck yeah man, a fantastic journey for us for sure!!! I have a ton more footage on it and our return home on a route we made up was just as epic!!! I want to do the Idaho BDR next summer maybe and I'd love to see if I could get a tour together of the original sixteen to one gold mine in Allegheny CA. I'm so intrigued by that part of the world!! I'm hoping we can do the IDBDR Aug 2023 maybe!
Thanks for a super-fun video. I live near Section 2 and am fixin' to do Section 3. Do you remember about where the water crossings are (i.e., how many miles into it)? Either way, thanks again.
So we left here on the 15th. It was mid to high 60s. On day 4 I think, it said snow in the forecast. We decided to get a hotel that night in Petersburg WV. It snowed around 6" and was in the 30s that day. We left out on day 5 in pouring snow headed to our destination to camp in Great Cacapon WV. It was all melting but still coming down like crazy. Part 4 should have to snow for ya. I think that snow pretty much hammered that entire area
@@PSBEadventures Mid to high 60s for temps sounds perfect. The cold front must have been a fluke. I think I heard about that in one other ride report. I am planning to be out that way early April and then in mid April. Wondering if that might be too risky.
Got sidetracked, to answer your question about Easter, it was 40s when we left cool springs if I remember right, and by the time we got to riding that ridge it was warming up nice, 60s at least. As we made our way towards smoke hole canyon, it was fantastic weather. Up through the canyon I had gotten brief service and it said 6" of a Snow tomorrow and we started to feel the cold air. And sure enough it snowed big time the next day!
@voip kam it was definitely a cold snap. We took Skyline drive back and up there and around Front Royal there was still snow but it was nice and warm during the day. If you get up around Great Cacapon, check out Gary's Cox Camping man. He's a super fellow. Hot showers and tons of options. Tent sites galore, cabins etc. We plan to go do the rest of the route and explore PA some late spring early summer hopefully. That's campground is just above Paw Paw
Definitely worth the ride up there!! We were on fumes at the bottom of the hill! Ran out 100 yards from the general store!!! It was definitely worth it! Appreciate ya watching man. Awesome place to live. How about the government listening center? That's kind of a scary thought!
@@PSBEadventures You guys are welcome I have done the MABDR 2 times and the NEBDR 1 time and last year I did the TAT there is nothing like Adventure riding.
I looked at a site with specs on the DR350 and it said 45mpg was normal. Your bike and you would know the truth but maybe you have the carb back to 'stock' set up? I just put a Nibbi PE28mm on my TW and it runs way better now and my mileage is 75-ish now when I was only getting around 60 with the stock.
Yeah, in stock form with stock gearing (135 jet, stock air box and exhaust) it would do 70mpg all day. I know for a fact it's too rich at cruise, it turned the rear fender completely black. We'll get her back close
@rjsalameh I had hoped someone would get a kick out of it. There's an entire playlist of the whole trip if you want to check it out. It truly was a trip of a lifetime. My cousin got tossed off his WR250 once in a deep crossing, hence the sub title (John Boy's favorite) LOL. Thanks for watching! Just got back from our tour of Idaho, check those out if you want. Will probably end up being a 7 or 8 part series!
Great video Chris looks like you and Cody are making great memories. Can't wait to see Part 4
Had a blast man! Appreciate you watching buddy!

If you look up Reddish knob on the map, (it's off the route but definitely worth riding to) it's not very far past it.
Those water crossings look fun but a little nerve-wracking. Do your tires slide around on the underwater rocks?
They sure do, it can get a bit technical sometimes!
What was the temperature like around Easter? I think you said it was going to snow around Warm Springs.
