  • RV LIFE BOONDOCKING | NEXT STOP - CHARLESTON SC
    (EPISODE 235)
    ℹ️ About this episode:
This week on LivinRVision, we spend some time in Charleston, SC and tour the city to learn more about Charlestons amazing history. We start off driving through the downtown area of Charleston and make our way over to The Battery. This is also the site of where an enslaved crewmember (Robert Smalls) on a ship called the Planter, commandeered a heavily armed Confederate ship and delivered its 17 black passengers (nine men, five women and three children) from slavery to freedom, all in the midst of the Civil War. We find all sorts of history within the downtown area as well as great restaurants and the Charleston City Market. The next day we decided to go to Johns Island where we witnessed The Angel Oak Tree. This Southern Live Oak tree is a historical site and focal point of one of the City of Charleston's public parks. It is considered to be the largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi estimating to be 300 to 400 years old. While you're in this area, don't forget to stop at the Angel Oak Restaurant! You will NOT be disappointed!
We hope you enjoy the show!🧡😊🤓

Why y'all were stomping around in our neck of the woods! I wish I'd know you were there, we'd love to have had the opportunity to meet you. Glad you got to visit this historic area. Thanks for sharing its history so well and beautifully! Much love to you both from SC, Jane❤🙏Thanks for sharing about Robert Smalls! He and Eliza Lucas Pinckney are two of my faves. One other thing I love about Robert Smalls is that after the war, he returned to his beloved SC, bought his former master's plantation (when the owner died) and even cared for the owner's wife until her death. He also served as one of the first black members in the Senate of SC for many years during Reconstruction. Very interesting man!❤

I really enjoy your channel. It is strange after watching you guys the last couple years traveling elsewhere to see you in my hometown of Charleston. When living in a spot and getting bogged down working and slugging through life in the suburbs, it is easy to forget the pretty parts that people travel to come see. I especially appreciate you showing some of the real history that we know of and are not necessarily proud of, but also some of the positive stories including the cities apology for the past. We still have issues here in the state and in the city, and hopefully Charleston will continue to really reform itself, and not just "rainbow wash" our issues.

      @LivinRVision  Год назад

Thank you, we’re glad you enjoy the videos. 🧡 Some may not understand why the city apologized, but it obviously was a unanimous decision by the city to do so. It is important to remember that this is something that happened before their time which they themselves had nothing to do with. We feel it is also good to never forget anything that happened in history of our country (or other countries) good or bad. It is history.

What are noseeums bugs? That tree was pretty cool looking. Made Me laugh when Michelle said she likes old things. Thanks for sharing.

No-see-ums are small flying insects that you “don’t see” which bite and leave marks similar to a mosquito.
Google no-see-ums to read more about them. I believe that’s how it is spelled.

"We do what we do!" 😉 Right out of the gate you hit Santi's (where I get my Mojito's & shrimp salad) You guys covered so much ground in a short time. We did Sunday brunch every week at Angel Oak, until they opened the bar out back (now closed on Sunday 🤨) Once again the editing just gets better. "Come back now, ya here"

If you are ever in the Rochester NY area there are great gluten free desserts. Donna Marie’s Gluten free bakery. Or I would bake you the best carrot cake cupcakes you ever had.

It came with the Grech RV Strada-Ion. They provide them with their units they sell. You can buy them on Amazon also. Here’s a link to one very similar. amzn.to/3AQub4x

Hi Brian & Michele, my name is Roger & I’m from the Seattle/Tacoma area. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. This is the first time i’ve seen one of your vids & I hope to go back & watch some of the before & future vids. Some day I hope to sell my home, sell my class C
RV & buy a class B RV to go south for the winter & also to visit many of our National Parks. My wife passed in 2017 & it had always been my dream
to RV full time. She had only wanted to do it part time. So i am able to do as I wish possibly but I sure would much rather still have her living! Please look
me up if you ever get out this way! 😂Safe travels to the both of you!

Hi Roger, We are so very sorry for the loss of your wife. We can’t even begin to imagine how hard that must be, but we hope you feel comfort knowing she’s still with you and we’re positive she wants you to continue to fulfill whatever dreams you have.
If you see that we are getting close to coming your way, please reach out and we’ll try to get together sometime. 🧡

All the wonderful restaurants in Charleston, some of the best seafood anywhere, and you went to a Mexican Restaurant? You can get that anywhere. Shrimp and grits is what you needed in Charleston!

We like ALL kinds of food and we like to try local places, doesn’t matter the type of food. I (Michelle) did get shrimp & grits at the Angel Oak restaurant.

@@LivinRVision Agree, it's just that good Mexican food can be found just about anywhere, but the kind of seafood you can find in Charleston is hard to find. Keep on traveling!

Woh! That is an old oak tree! There is something spiritual about very old trees! Kind of like the Banyan trees of India!
Do ya’ll ever take a break and stay in an Airbnb for a week or so to get off the road warrior scene?

AllStays App, many truck stops like Flying J, Pilot & Love’s. There are other apps also that have this information like Harvest Hosts or RV Dumps. We have found that we usually only have to use AllStays for finding lots of places, including free overnight stays etc.

I enjoy your videos but you should use a wide angle when walking around so viewers see more background scenery.

Not when we’re using our iPhone and the stabilization isn’t the greatest on the wide angle. Thankfully we show more of the scenery than we do of us. 😂
