One might think you were making a joke, but honestly...some instruments can't even be bothered to include a volume knob. I'm looking at YOU, Roland Boutiques!
@crazysteven3 Not directly, but there are USB/MIDI converters available which have two MIDI jacks and one USB jack. They are around 10-15 bucks, so it's not that big an investment.
The Micron is indeed a far more capable synth; you can write an entire album with it when you finally learn to use the sequencer in perfect harmony with the mod matrix; the vocoder on the Micron is poor but I got an Electro Harmonix V256 vocoder for free so I'll never need another vocoder for the rest of my life. The Micron is the best budget synth ever designed.
@deadmau5Jr No, just an amp, or headphones, (of course you have to plug it into a wall). You can use a pc to record though, and if you don't have an amp you can play through the pc's speakers, and there's a great free program to access all the parameters quickly and easily.
@staceyricardo92 This is a true synthesizer, which means it makes its own sounds, it does not play back samples of other instruments, butis an instrument on its own. You might be able to create as ound that is somewhat close to a piano, but it will not be a piano in that way, no.
Yes. Just play as normal, but lightly hovver your fingers over the keyboard without pressing them. It's a great silence producing technique. You'll get great results using this method. In fact, you wont even have to store the patch as you'll find the silence is pretty much exactly the same next time you go to not play. Make sure the volume knob isn't up too loud or the silence could be deafening.
Great synth to add 'Cheeze' to any tune, although it can sound sound quite dark it's never going to be as dark as a Virus. Still it's my first and only keyboard synth along with Virus B and FS1R. Great combo! If you want a fun synth with a built in sequencer and percussion etc this is the one for you. Yahoo user group is a good source of patches and info.
@sxedevdev the micron takes some getting used to, since you have to learn how to program it, but it is more flexible than the microkorg and it can produce pad sounds due to its eight voice polyphony, which the mk can't. And full size keys are definitely an advantage. I'm not saying that Korg synths are bad, but If I were to buy a Korg keyboard synth, I'd add 130 bucks to the price of a microkorg xl and go directly for the R3 which has the accessibility of an mk with a much better synth engine.
tough call, i think the micron is a little more organic sounding but the microkorg has a thicker sound imo,depends what kind of music you play. I would try em out first. I use the micron as a midi controller and it works well.Why not get both? Look for used ones.
I just got a used one of these...I like it except the 'program' button very rarely works. Is it a problem of dirt under the button & could I clean it with some kind of lube spray? Or have to take it apart?
do you think that the only setback on the mircokorg is the keys? cos, i know that both the microkorg and the micron can be hooked up to a keyboard. that's what i plan to do. but i still can't make up my mind on which one has more sounds and better quality sounds.
@tmstttt The Gaia isn't bad but I like its precursor a little bit better. the Sh201 is an awesome synth with great pad sounds. I use the Sh201 for pads, organ sounds etc.. and the micron for leads, its an awesome combination.
When you change the tempo at 4:20 and press the keys and the sounds go faster to match the tempo, can you do that with your own edited programs as well? for example, i "record" a little diddy, to loop as a rhythm, if i change the tempo, will it change the speed of my edit aswell? if so, im sold.
Is this a good synth to begin with? I want something that will be an easy step into learning all parameters and their effects on the sound created. Right now I'm between this, Nord Lead 2 and the Arturia Micro(or maybe mini)brute
go with the brute. no presets makes you learn. no menus, one knob/slider per function. easy get ya going synth. it is mono though if that is not a problem its a great start.
Well whats funny is that it refused to work when I got it, the seller was a great guy and completely refunded me then told me to either save the cash or use it to fix it. Opened it up and all of the input and output jack became unsoldered somehow during shipping. Just paid 10 bucks for electrical solder and bam!
Huh uh. And to find a one new, I'm sure would be a chore. You can always find them used, but Caveat Emptor ( let the buyer beware ). I happen to own a Micron and they really are neat machines. When I purchased it, Micron's and Microkorg's were the two compact synthesizer rivalries concerning cost and quality at the time. I chose not to go with the Microkorg because of their clacky keys.
Why does everyone compare this with a microkorg,every synth is unique (unless its a roland,lol) they are both cool synths and both sound phat but i prefer the sound of the micron and has way better keys,those mini keys on the microkorg suck big time
@scarfy23 My point exactly sir. This is nothing but an underpowered computer running, most likely the same software you can get on a VST. Again, pointless
@XcesMusic I would buy a microkorg if i had the fingers the size of a toddlers. I would buy a MicroKorg if i wanted a new toy. I bought a Micron because I wanted a real keyboard.
"Fun to turn volume knob"---well that certainly was the deciding factor for me...I'm getting one!!
+blipblip88 it's made of soft rubber, you know.
And it's pretty cool looking!
No I've got one
You NEED to try this knob.
One might think you were making a joke, but honestly...some instruments can't even be bothered to include a volume knob. I'm looking at YOU, Roland Boutiques!
This makes me really happy that Sonicstate exists
10 yrs later got one for $100 USD, worth every cent !
Guys the volume knob is really amazing!
I just bought one of these used, and the volume knob is actually really pleasant and inspires confidence.
@crazysteven3

thanks for the video. I just picked this thing up and it's great, I just don't know how to use it properly :D

Very nice board for my production arsenal.

Did you ever sort that out?
@@kiko1935 Yeah,I doused it with Deoxy. Now that I play my Micron all the time, it's working great!
What would be a better choice, the R3, or the Micron? Someone please reply
do you think that the only setback on the mircokorg is the keys? cos, i know that both the microkorg and the micron can be hooked up to a keyboard. that's what i plan to do. but i still can't make up my mind on which one has more sounds and better quality sounds.
@MrJennion definitely it was designed with live use in mind.
@tmstttt The Gaia isn't bad but I like its precursor a little bit better. the Sh201 is an awesome synth with great pad sounds. I use the Sh201 for pads, organ sounds etc.. and the micron for leads, its an awesome combination.
@joed424 you betcha, you can have as much analogue drift as you want, its freely assignable
Love my micron,awesome,everything i need in one tiny box

ECVELENTE VIDEO COLEGA SALUDOS DESDE TIJUANA BC
Works well with the Deepmind 6 I paid $300 for.
That's a lot of power for the $.
can this make a grand piano sound if you want it to?
Is this a good synth to begin with? I want something that will be an easy step into learning all parameters and their effects on the sound created. Right now I'm between this, Nord Lead 2 and the Arturia Micro(or maybe mini)brute

@xmyonlyfearx Square wave FM synth, and a very very little bit of a chorus effect
Does this have an onboard speaker?
how do i get that sound that you played in the opening >_<
@IAmBound Micron parameeter program? For something non-mac?
Do you have a way to get the drivers?
i played on the microkorg and the xl today, i dont like how small the keys are though, does this also have midget keys?
Why didn't you use both outputs?
Programming is a bit hard with menu diving great sound,
@SeniorSmurf1 yes, you just use MIDI ;)
wats this connexted to? an amp? TY!
thanks for the vid, quite informative
Actually this is one of the best synths you can buy at the price.
I think I paid $200 for mine.
Your voice sounds very familiar to someone who does the original Caustic Tutorial videos
can you phrase a pattern?
What do I need to connect this to a Pc laptop?
can it make the sound of silence?
microkorg or micron?
A bought an Alesys micron just so i can turn th volume on and off =)
its pretty sweet looking but id go with the xio by novation.
@235T1NGR4Y23 I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
Looks great! Is it just me or does it seem like I'd get way more out for a microkorg for an extra 200?
how do i instal the alesis presets v1.02 to my keyboard?
@musicjunkie295 Little Dragon was so good when I saw them live. It's nice to see that someone has good taste!
@ofuckitstravis ...which you can definitely do on a micron
How do you get that kind of Lone's transposed key at the beginning
It sounds like its an extended or 7th chord (minor I think), that was programmed to play by striking a single note. Ive done it on my alpha juno
they should make a desktop module.
I spy one going for 240 with all the goodies. Snatch or pass?
Snatch my man, you could get one for a little bit cheaper. But it's very reasonable.
Well whats funny is that it refused to work when I got it, the seller was a great guy and completely refunded me then told me to either save the cash or use it to fix it. Opened it up and all of the input and output jack became unsoldered somehow during shipping. Just paid 10 bucks for electrical solder and bam!
dude, run the audio into your recording interface. camera mic is always terrible for synth demos.
very good!!!
can this be played without a computer or is software required like other synths???
it's got a built in sequencer. in fact No synth needs a computer anyway!?
+John Beardwell lots of synth need computers
Corncob Johnson oh do they indeed? Yes how right you are!
+Corncob Johnson You must be very clever?
+John Beardwell what's with the question mark? what you said wasn't a question :/
Amazing.
Thumbs up for the GRAMMAR mistake in the title!
Do they still make them?
I chose not to go with the Microkorg because of their clacky keys.
is this realy analog synth cuz i think they don't make them anymore?
stingrrr1 It's VIRTUAL analog
TOTALLY AGREE !!
how much do these go for?
You find them used for ~200-250 EUR.
Just bought one for $90!
charlesbonkley you straight stole that thing!
However, this little toy costs a bang!!!!
Why does everyone compare this with a microkorg,every synth is unique (unless its a roland,lol) they are both cool synths and both sound phat but i prefer the sound of the micron and has way better keys,those mini keys on the microkorg suck big time
reminds me of R2D2. I want one. haha
wot u knobs?
@imakecrappyvids Yes they are.
microkorg all the way baby^.^
@deadmau5Jr No problem :)
@fukkenninjas nahh these keys are almost normal(x
@scarfy23 My point exactly sir. This is nothing but an underpowered computer running, most likely the same software you can get on a VST. Again, pointless
would this be an ideal synth for my screamo band? im the singer and screamo is always much more sick with a synth. are there any you would recommend?
Synth with great capabilities and horrible editing. Recommended for people who like spending life navigating through menus and sub-menus.
Micron FTW !!!
@griffinscrazybones lol
hehe
@XcesMusic I would buy a microkorg if i had the fingers the size of a toddlers. I would buy a MicroKorg if i wanted a new toy. I bought a Micron because I wanted a real keyboard.
@235T1NGR4Y23
Nope.
LMAO.
Tha is one utterly pointless piece of harware, Why the heck would I want a modeling freaking synth? Just use your computer, WTF?
Are these any good for synth pluck sounds (i.e. ?Alive" by Hillsong or DJ Snake)?
