I just made one and covered up the tree with a plaid dollar tree scarf. I did not scrape the glitter off. I also glued dollar tree rope all around the edges.
I did these! Only I used hairspray to cover the glitter after it didn't soak off well. After that was dry and smooth, I covered them in black chalk paint. Tied buffalo check ribbon around their necks for scarves. Glued yardsticks to the back which I also painted with black chalk paint. Put them in mason jars filled with floral foam and then covered those in burlap with buffalo check ribbon. Wish I could upload a pic CB they came out great. Such a fun craft. Meghan is so inspiring. Yours look awesome!!!
rikki17 I wish that we could post pics in the comments. I don't think it's an option. At least I haven't figured out how anyway. Yours sound very cute.
Hi 12/2/22pm.. holy moly, not sure if ill attempt that reindeer again , getting the glitter off was a huge job, a lot longer than my usual diy s and a tad frustrating
Those reindeer turned out nice. I picked up one reindeer and the sleigh. might have to go back and get some more reindeer. Thanks for sharing 😀. Have a blessed day.
I used a sanding block and my fingernail. I scrapped it off the HARD way. Glad to find you can soak them. I used a dollar tree putty knife, but that bench knife if great too.
I enjoyed your version as well as Glue Guns and Roses. I like how you explained all your steps. I am planning to make one and put mine them in the bathtub. Most all the glitter came off. I also subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to seeing your creations. Thanks for sharing.
@@WhimsyWonderland I used red buffalo check material to make mine and put them in dt buckets and covered them in the same fabric. They are so cute. Thanks for replying.
I made 2 of these. Used an old flannel shirt and mod podge to cover. I sanded the glitter off ouside. Worked great. Also used 2 empty cans, floral foam and marbles.
I love that you showed the process of removing the glitter. The # 1 comment on my video was asking about removing the glitter. I didn't have an issue removing glitter on the sides, so I wonder if it was just the red glitter glue or Dollar Tree's inconsistency in products? Much love to you friend-Megan
Thank you! I was worried that I might offend you by making this video. I did mention you in it a few times and linked your video. I am fairly new to RUclips and am still learning the process. I love your channel. Thank you for taking the time to check out my video and to comment. I appreciate that.
@@WhimsyWonderland please girlfriend, I am not offended at all! Not only did you mention my video you linked the video as well ❤ A+ for RUclips etiquette my sweet friend!
Getting the glitter off was a lot of work, but I think they turned out nicely. I wanted to get another set so that I could try to to decoupage over the glitter to see if it worked. Unfortunately, my Dollar Tree is out of stock.
Hi I'm new to your channel. I really liked your reindeer figures! Thanks for showing another way to do the project. I love the wrapping paper idea! have a Merry Christmas!
I want to make a few of these too and I have some buffalo check wrapping paper. I really don't want to scrap off the glitter on the antlers nor do I want to remove them. Do you think that if I put brown craft paper on first and then put my wrapping paper on top of that would work? Do you think that way you wouldn't get the bumps from the glitter? Thanks.
Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been dealing with some medical issues. I hope you haven't given up on me. I have been thinking about ways to skip the scraping process. The best way that I can think of is to cover the glitter with a coat or 2 of Mod Podge. This would help smooth out the surface. You can even sand lightly between the mod Podge coats to get it even smoother. Just be sure that it's completely dry first. I wish I could try it and experiment for you, but I only got the 3 deer and my Dollar Tree has not gotten any more back in. Good luck. Please let me know what you decide to do and how it turns out. Oh, about the craft paper idea, I'm not sure how that would work. That's adding one more layer of paper and therefore adding one more opportunity for bubbles to form in the paper. If it were me, I would not add kraft paper.
@@WhimsyWonderland I put three layers of Mod Podge on and let that dry overnight. I took a scraper and scraped off all of the glitter. The glitter came off in little sheets and it wasn't hard to do but it took a little bit of work. I used red/black buffalo check wrapping paper and Mod Podged that to the reindeer. I got wrinkles and air bubbles but it still looks good. Some of my edges tore a bit so I took black paint and painted around the edges and let some paint get on the paper so it looks a little distressed. I'm still working on it so I'm not done yet but so far I like the way it is turning out. Thanks for the Mod Podge idea, it worked.
Yeah, I usually don't leave things this unfinished. But due to the time crunch I was under at the time, and no ideas on how to finish it quickly, I just let it go this tie. If I were selling them in my booth, I would probably Mod Podge paper to the back too.
@@leannel1381 yeah. I have Mod Podged felt before. It soaks up so much glue that it takes a very long time to dry. I would reccommend the Kraft paper from Dollar Tree. The kind that is brown and found in the packing/shipping section of Dollar Tree. It's heavier that wrapping paper and would probably have a better chance of not ripping as you cover the stick.
Love these reindeer, especially done with the plaid. We live in a rural area with lots of deer & these would look so cute at the end of our driveway...would just need to waterproof everything because we've been getting so much rain am thinking might have to build an ark like Noah. Also, need to check out the other channel you mentioned. Merry Christmas.
i love them...Can you tell me if the second coat of MP on them helped get rid of some of the air bubbles under the paper please. Thank you , great tutorial....pat

Yeah, it took a lot of work.
You could make a sleigh out of foam board, that would be great
Donna King I could but things made from foam board just don’t hold up well.
You can still spray paint them if you want to and if you just wanted to do the top just lay down something to clover the bottom
Yep, spray paint would work. It would leave the glittered texture, but that's not always a bad thing.
Omg. I have those. The gold and red one . Been seeing crafters doing these .Turn out nice. Now I know what to do with mines. Thanks for sharing
