I was stationed with the lead singer in the USN. A great friend. We were air traffic controllers (thus the name of the band lol) Both got out I’m still an atc and he followed his dream. So happy for him.
I just love this video, so well cut together and the moves are so genuine. I can see my inner geeky high schooler dreaming of this stuff during boring classes. Imagining the cool kids at my house, in my life, imagining my parents making my house a warm, friendly , inviting place for the neighbors. It was the opposite, but the daydreams made it all bearable. Set those daydreams to music and you have this video.
This band is so down to earth. I went to one of their shows a year ago at the Troubadour. It's a pretty small venue and I was able to get close enough to say hi to Dave right before they started their set. I told him how NORDO got me through some really challenging times during my sophomore year of college and just said thank you. Skip forward about an hour and a half later- after the next two bands played their sets. I see Dave at their merch table and he says, "Hey Jack!" to me. He remembered the name of a complete stranger who he had a quick 10-15 second interaction with two hours ago as he was getting ready to play.
It still keeps giving! I’m old and cranked this one up. 👍 The video makes the song even more fun (they seriously look like they had a blast filming this).
My 8th grade teacher played this one time at the beginning of school year while I was reading Paper Towns. To this day I remember when I would hum it while reading the book at home and walking around the halls.
My sister pointed out our house was "the house" when we were growing up. We didn't really do big parties, but there were 8 of us, and our parents were the parents of whole friend groups. My mom never really knew how many people she would have for dinner every night, but she would set a plate for anyone who needed one. This was especially important because every single one of us seems to attract people who need that open door and the warmth inside.

I have to question the intelligence of the schoolgirls when they are passing notes and the teacher looks so passed out he could have died in his chair. It's not like he's gunna give you detention for whispering to one another. they're putting in extra effort to be sneaky and creating evidence of breaking classroom rules when no one is going to stop them haha.
