Darth maul is probably one of the best Star Wars characters. I find him so epic and his lightsaber/fighting style was amazing. I will always be a Maul fan
Adi Gallia: Jedi Master, and one of the council members during the clone wars up until her death Theory: “… used his horns to kill a Jedi apprentice traveling with Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
@@alphaelitek9 me to I literally replayed this bit to ensure I didn't mishear him then spent five minutes looking for the comment that would correct him.
Star wars rebels is also worth it really cool and even better than clone wars sometimes and also star wars resistance but star wars resistance does take getting used to but the ending and plot twists are epic also gives a little backstory to poe before the force awakens 👍
Honestly my favourite character in Star Wars and one of the reasons I grew to love Star Wars so much. Obviously his acrobatic fighting style and beastly appearance is cool but what I really love about Maul is his personality. I love how despite his savageness and lust for blood, he still has a conscience and clearly loves and cares for his family. He clearly enjoyed having his brother by his side not just as an apprentice but as his best friend that always had his back, and I bet the time he spent with Savage on their quest to conquer the galaxy was probably the best moments of his sad and tortured existence, and how when Savage was killed by the man that twisted and ruined Maul’s life it completely broke his heart. His story arc is fantastic and I’m glad he was shown the attention he got.
Thank you to the Clone Wars for quickly making Darth Maul one of my all-time favorite characters. Getting to know more about him and his mindset made him such an interesting character to me on top of the amazing presence he already was.
He was also technically the first Force sensitive to cheat death. Palpatine mentions about the Dark Side being used to cheat death and, whereas Qui Gon was the first to embrace the ghost, Maul was the first to use the Force to keep himself alive and outlive death with his passion for vengeance
Related to him having 2 hearts: I like the idea that he never had to use that advantage. It plays into the idea that he was such a dominant person with such an absolutist life that he either won or lost. And we all know how often he lost. Almost never
Maul was the biggest reason I got into Star Wars so many years ago. He has always been my favorite character, and I'm so glad he's gotten more screen time after
Nov3m I mean she was a Jedi council member since before The Phantom Menace and doesn’t get killed off until towards the end of the clone wars- she was up there for a while lol
I loved his death in Star Wars Rebels, it’s very symbolic because he found out the Kenobi was protecting the chosen one and he will avenge him by killing Palpatine.
As for Maul's second heart; it comes into play in the Legends novel "Maul: Lockdown". Darth Maul infiltrates a prison Space Station under the guise of an inmate, and all of the inmates have very small bombs placed inside their hearts in case of an escape attempt, and the book specifically mentions that the medical droids had to place the charges in both of his hearts. I just finished the book and I think that if Disney ever gives us a Darth Maul focused show, then they should just do a straight adaptations of Lockdown, and "Darth Maul Shadow Hunter", as given the way both stories are written and how they follow multiple groups of protagonists at once, it would be very easy to adapt them to the screen.
Maul is my favorite, I am literally rp as him on instagram Plus I love him because of how brutal, his story, and his struggle through life, along with so many other things which just make him amazing
When you mentioned the thing about Maul having two hearts, it reminded me of the book called Maul: Lockdown which is all about Maul so I wondered if you got that from that book. Also, it’s a very good read 10/10
The episodes in the clone wars with darth maul and savage were by far the most fun to watch, especially when savage got on the junkplanet and we got to see maul for the first time.
Darth Maul was maybe my favorite sith in the original six movies. It was insulting watching him "die" in episode one. I personally wish he had overthrown Sidious and become the Emperor. Maul would not have succeeded where Sidious did in taking over the republic, so I suppose it was destiny!
I wonder why in that Clone Wars episode when Savage Opress finds Maul and takes him back to Mother Talzan and restored his body, he had his horns longer, meaning he had aged (of course, because time had passed), when they did the Nightsister ritual, his horns shrunk, and it's not like the have horn cuts, right? So does that mean that Mother Talzan restored Maul's body from right after the first battle between Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul? Same thing with Savage when they made him more powerful, did they age his body?
my favorite was the story of him creating his lightsaber and how intense the process was. how he literally sat in that chamber of intense heat for i think 3 days with nothing but the force to sustain him? Darth Maul is a badass
Just a small correction- around 4:01, you state that Savage Opress killed "a jedi apprentice", however, the Jedi in question was actually a decorated Jedi Master named Adi Gallia.
I’ve never clicked on a video so fast. I’m planning to make a sequel for my animated Maul film, and I’ll need to be as accurate as possible. Thanks for making this, Theory!
I would wish for another Video with Facts of his Afterlife in Legends like there was a Clone of Maul, who fought Vader, a Holo Droid who used a Model of Maul to fight Starkiller or how Luke killed what was left of Maul.
Maul was both a warlock and a sith, having been trained by Sidious coupled with being the son of a witch whose powers rivaled Palpatine if only for a while.
A friend of mine brought up an interesting point. Palpatine kept Maul as a Sith Warrior. Thus he didn't teach Maul Sith Sorcery. Palpatine could only use Sorcery when he was a Master, since he lacked the gift for it. But Maul was able to recreate Nightsister potions and spells (with guidance from spirits). Could Maul have been able to master Sith Sorcery? Was that why he was seeking ancient Holocrons?
I think that this video was too long... You should've just put the video where he screams Kenobi. The end. Amazing video, Maul is the most badass, please make more videos about him.
I agree with Colin ^^ Palpatine took him away at a young age to indoctrinate him, and then to have him say “fuck off, i got another stronger apprentice, im going to kill your brother”. Dude died knowing some dude was gonna beat that dude’s ass.
He died in a poetic way. If you pay attention, the whole scene was well thought out and full of hidden meaning. Not everything has to be "action packed" and "cool" to be affective
Love the character and his double blade saber, but sadly they made him a terrible lightsaber fighter. He beat Quigon but lost to Obiwan(twice), kanan Jarrus, sideous, and ahsoka. That’s a measly 1-5 record.
He's actually literally one of the best duelists during the Clone Wars, he beat Obi the first time and lost due to arrogance, he beat Kenobi a couple times over the course of the Clone Wars and didn't even bother fighting him the last time they meet during it, simply using the force to overpower him, and is only beaten in Rebels since he had been wondering a desert for literal days at least, was pretty far gone mentally, and because he was tricked by Kenobi into trying to do the attack he used on Qui Gon, plus he seemed like he wanted to die anyway, so I'm not sure how much he truly cared at that point since he had already lost everything. Kanan is some Plot armor nonsense and him being overconfident again, considering we see him stomp the inquisitors and fight Ashoka who is way better than Kanan, yet he's able to keep up with her even out of his prime. Sidious is literally the strongest Sith ever and killed 3 Jedi Masters in like 5 seconds, and yet at the end of the fight Maul was able to keep up with him even after Sidious started trying and even managed to kick him which makes him one of the only characters to land a hit on him, to the point that even Sidious was annoyed and decided to overpower him with sheer force power at the very end, that's how he disarmed Maul, he used the force to make himself strong enough to physically overpower his saber clash at the end, instead of disarming him using superior skill since Maul was good enough to be an actual challenge. Besides as stated Sidious is stupidly strong so losing to him doesn't mean much. Ashoka's fight is similar to Kenobi's first fight, since Maul had her at his mercy but got overconfident, and even then, Filoni talked about Maul being at his worst due to everything that's been happening while Ashoka is at her best, so even when he's far from his usual power he's a better duelist than Ashoka, plus he wanted her to join him rather than die. You're also forgetting Pre Vizla, a pretty skilled Mandalorian that he beat without using the force so he could make it an actual fight, bounty hunters, some of which he didn't even use his weapon for, Savage Oppress, who he beat in literally 2 moves, and a stupid amount of others in the comics, Jedi and Sith alike, hell he even fought Mace Windu and Aayla Secura at the same time and was winning until the fight got interrupted. This isn't even including the fact that he is really strong force wise, he just doesn't use it as often as other force users usually, he can casually break Kenobi's force wall, a Dooku level feat, and destroyed the Venator's hyperdrive with effort, but not as much as I would have thought, and that feat is better than most I can think of that aren't in the comics, so he's by no means weak, the movies and shows sometimes can make it seem that way though.
Adi Gallia was not an apprentice at that time. She was on the Jedi High Council, later replaces by another Jedi Master of her species, Stass Allie. Just thought you may want to know.
Maul could have easily killed obi wan when he was unconscious but he didn't. In Rebels when he was killed you could see how much respect both had for each other.
