My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in
California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

I have a couple of suggestions for you for Spanish. A really good podcast is Hoy Hablamos Gramática. One of my favourite RUclips channels of all time is called Tiranos Temblad. He doesn’t really make new ones but he used to make a cute video weekly about things that happened in Uruguay. Great way to hear the rioplatense accent. Enjoy!

Nice, you have a lot of great resources! I'm using Anki and RUclips to study Japanese too. I actually live in Japan, but I don't get out much because of the pandemic, so I'm just doing my Anki decks and watching mostly Japanese VTubers and cooking channels. Kattyanneru is a fun Japanese cooking channel with cheap and easy recipes geared toward home cooks.

I started trying to learn Japanese I think at least 13 years ago and I'm still pretty dang beginner 🔰 lol. I never stayed consistent over all of the years and I'm literally so, so shy to try and use methods that involve practicing with partners 💀. But I try to at least get exposure by listening a lot so listening is my best skill and speaking and writing are my worst. Also I've spent time practicing this phrase so I can tell people I'm still bad at Japanese despite my years of studying: 「過去13年間日本語を勉強していますけど、まだ下手ですようね。」

speaking is the hardest for me too 1) because I don’t spend enough time practicing speaking 2) I absolutely get scared to use it lol 🥴 but also, 頑張って!

I agree that you should try to do things you already enjoy in your target languages. Your video has inspired me to do more in my target languages again, I've gotten a little lazy recently. For tagalog, I really like "tutor of Manila" on RUclips. she has some instructional videos but also some short listening comprehension vlogs.

Even though I’m not working on learning a language, I have in the last six months or so watched several shows made in different countries, and even though they are captioned in English, it’s been fascinating to hear languages I don’t normally get a chance to hear, like Norwegian, Swedish, and Thai. And watching shows from those countries also gives me an insight into some aspects of the culture, which is also fascinating. So I can see why watching videos in the languages that you’re studying can be so beneficial.

Thank you for sharing about Tagalog! I’m also learning because of my partner and his friends and while polyglot advice across RUclips is helpful, Tagalog -specific help is so rare and I’m so grateful when I find it.
