Probably could have signed love for around 120 mil over 4 years with maybe only 30-40 guaranteed if GB rolled the dice last year. But that’s what you get for been cautious.
The reaction to the deal has been particularly fervent among Packers fans, who were willing to see this as an opportunity for our team heading forward. With the Lions investing a significant chunk of their resources in Jared Goff, Green Bay should sense this as an advantage, especially as us Packers fans look ahead to contract discussions for our own quarterback, Jordan Love. Social media has lit up with takes from us Packers fans, with many expressing disbelief at the magnitude of Jared Geoff’s extension and its implications for the NFC North division. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
The Love/Goff comparison is like comparing apples and oranges. Goff led the Rams to a SB pretty young. He was the #1 overall pick. Lions haven't had a QB who can take them to the second in the playoffs in years. Goff rescued the Lions from being the worst team. The Pack and Lions are different teams. From the way the Lions are built, the team's success is highly dependent on elite play from the QB position. That means Goff has to become superman every weekend. The Pack are built differently. They have stockpiled talent at every position, and they have great coaches on both sides of the ball. The Pack have a stout Oline and a stable of wideouts that function very well in the offense. The Pack are built to win playoffs games with even average play from the QB position. Love struggled in his first year, but he did make some dramatic improvements. He now has a playoff win which might give him more leverage in the bargaining table. It's hard to justify making Love the highest paid QB at this point in his career. Most QBs these days are over paid.
Not really since he's been around so long and has everything in the offense mastered. No reason to expect him to regress especially with working with basically all rookies last year. He gets too much blame for those early losses. Receivers weren't even running the right routes yet. He's gonna be good for a long time
If I'm Love I'd give the Packers a deal. Brady did it, won championships, then made way more money with advertising and marketing. Now I'm not talking a huge cut but not a cap killer either.
@@chandlerreckendorf5369 it absolutely affected their ability to sign players, which is exactly the reason why Rodgers and other platers on the team had constantly either talked about or directly offered to take pay reductions in an effort to pay other guys on the team more and retain them.
@@grimmheart No, the salary cap is always maneuverable. They wanted to keep Rodgers and keep him happy while always maintaining the leverage to move on at any point. They had the opportunity to restructure his contract before his final extension and chose not to because they wanted leverage to move to Jordan Love if they decided to. QBs cost money. Whether it's Rodgers or Love or anyone else, if you have a good QB not on a rookie deal, you're going to have to pay up or they can play their contract out and leave. Dak will probably do just that with the Cowboys this year. Kirk has done it several times. As a Packer fan. Love has had 1 good season. He still has a lot to prove. Now i wont fault him for trying to get the best contracr possible but 50 mil at this stage is a stretch. Incentive based yes he should get that but guaranteed contract no way.
Look, I understand the market dictates what QB’s should get paid. But the markets are always wrong. Cleveland ruined it even more with the Watson contract. I don’t think GB should give Aaron Rodgers money to Jordan Love. I think $35mil a year guaranteed is fair with incentives for play offs,NFC game and SuperBowl. Let’s not scree ourselves over with large contracts, we know how that screwed us over when Aaron and Bak were there. Jordan had a great 6 weeks of football, don’t we think we need to see more of him before committing our future to him? And why should he be the highest paid QB in the league? What has he done to warrant such a large contract?
Jordan love made a high school football player mistake in the last game of the playoffs by throwing accross his body in the middle of the field. He may turn out to be the biggest fool's gold.
