The Pale Emperor is his best album, in my opinion. It's amazing that this came out so far along into his career.

Manson's ballads really go unnoticed. Just a Car Crash Away, In the Shadow of the Walley of Death, Man That You Fear, Into the Fire, Speed of Pain and so on. Odds of Even is the most recent example of it, especially the ending is just amazing.
All his songs haunt me, but this one to the soul. Beautiful.

I used to ignore this album after the first listen because I didn't appreciate it. I thought it's his worst album because there are no aggressive/heavier songs. But now I finally understand the theme of this album and now it's one of my top 5s.

My house did 😢 it's weird you said that and this is my favorite song it's how I feel about what happened to me in losing my house and my pets. Manson is what has helped me all this time get through this.
If you listen, take out the music. Remove everything except for the lyrcs. All you hear is pure genius. All the words are philosophical. "My dagger, my swagger are useless in the face of the mirror" What I get from it is when you stand before yourself, how you present yourself to others, the power you feel mean nothing when your looking at yourself. As deep in you know who and what you are. SO no matter what your portray to others your true inner colors are visible to yourself. Your mask is now removed and your looking at your true appearance

Philosophical indeed. "in the face of the mirror when the mirror is made of my face" saying a Hell of a lot more than anything that can be taken for face value. He is embracing what cannot be seen by the naked eye. The mirror can also be seen as a divine signature and does not acquire a single name or word in order to do so. That is why it does not once get mentioned in the bible. Correct me if I'm wrong because that was only an assumption. Those who know the bible word from word. They must have kept it out for that reason if I am correct. Interesting.

Love this song and this album. Tripped me out when the CD was changing from white to black. Took me a while to figure out it changed shade. I couldn't remember if it was white or black when I put in the CD. Was not expecting a CD to change shade.

I thought the same... such a great album: one of my favorites. I was thinking that may be thus is like a second part or at least some songs are a kind of continuation of the MA.
