@@thedevil5475 , thanks for the info. Do hope that change helps save the tires some punishment. Though, can't see it helping the other teams compete with Mercedes.
Red Bull have been asking for this for years tho. And tbf, it is only just that it happens. Honda is still the slowest power unit in the top 10, Merc is on a Ferrari level and Renault is on Merc's level last year
Horrible solution actually. F1 is about speed. Instead of making others fast, they try to make the leaders slower. I am glad it didn’t work out right, so now I want to ser they bringing party mode again.
Fortnite Edit engines can have different “modes”. Party mode is everything cranked to the max for maximum speed. This isnt sustainable all race tho so it’s only used for qualifying
@@fortniteedit4534 There are different Engine modes for the cars. And the engine mode mercedes used to use in qualifying was called party mode. And litteraly the cars engine would be in full party mode and be much faster then the others. But you cant really use that through the whole race because it would harm the engine to go full ham for a full race. So mercedes would just chill out in fp 1 2 3 and then turn on party mode in q3 and get pole position everytime. And in the race they would just put car in a normal engine mode and win the race anyways because hamilton has pole position and because they are mercedes. So recently the FIA ruled that teams would have to use the same engine mode from qualifying till end of race. And because mercedes cant use party mode through all of the race they cant use it in qualifying either.
@@sikijkarki8975 but as you can see it didnt really work out. And mercedes had said it wouldnt matter anyways. Probably because everybody else used it too. Just not as effectively as mercedes.
Ocon just attack but raikonen got aspiration so he s faster... If raikkonen doesnt want someone in front of him he just have to do his run at an other time
It’s pretty clear to me at least, whatever the FIA and Ferrari situation was in pre season is the reason for this drop off. How do you go from winning races to back of the field unless you were doing something illegal. The FIA wouldn’t even let the other teams know what they found on the Ferrari cars but this drop off in pace makes it quite obvious. Sad to see but it is what it is
@Helder Almeida Hamilton might of got a long range tow from Bottas, you can get a small tow from a fair few seconds back... not saying Hamilton wouldnt of got pole but he might of been helped, I think Mercedes done that to try and keep everything civil between their drivers
@Eye Ball Paul hmm JB and nico rosberg and even fernando all matched him for at least a single season then we have the poor finn Bottas who cant stop the ultimate driver in F1 history . So you cant say that those other teammates just accepted that they are slow , atleast they tried.
What we need is a TV feed and commentary that ignore the Mercedes pair. If we had that, this season of F1 would be the best we've had in a long time. As it stands, sport is just not as interesting when you know who will win before it starts.
@@Daz5Daz it's not their fault in the sense they arent doing anything outside of FIA rules, however their budget is just insane and no mid or lower pack team is ever going to be able to compete with their development team. Which means until the budget cap merc is set to continue to make the best performing and most expensive car.
@@Qutut no, having Mercedes is actually great in F1 as it shows how much a manufacturer need to push in order to become the best, although it is bad in the sport in terms of competition. We need a commentator to talk about how great the racing in the midfield are, not someone who just talks about how the best of the pack will always be at the front and wins
So all I see is a race for 3rd. Is this even racing anymore when one team just absolutely obliterates the rest of the field? At least when Red Bull was winning with Vettel it was close between a few teams.
Of course it is because getting the best car you can is part of it. Like other teams run seconds faster than Williams and Haas, but you never see anyone complaining about that. You just don’t like Mercedes obviously and that’s why you don’t like. Otherwise you wouldn’t remembered the Vettel years specifically. Btw this difference between teams exists in all sports
Why would Ferrari confidently make Vettel stay in the pits? Wwwwwhhhhhhhhyyyyyyy??? Leclerc was going for three runs! And Vettel’s time wasn’t safe for q2! Why not send Vettel and Leclerc together especially when both need a better lap and the track happens to be the most tow needed one? I need a logical explanation!!!!! Okay sorry for that tantrum. I know they were saving tyres and stuff but... yeah could have been better
I kinda agree on this one. They kinda have nothing to lose at this point. Even if they are conserving tires, I think with their position it won't make all that much of a difference given their strategy has been all over the place. I am a Mercedes fan, Butz honestly, I would prefer to see Ferrari, Red Bull, Racing Point and Renault more in the mix to push the top to the limit.
ferraris biggest problem isnt their car, its the same problem they've had for years; their strategy and mgmt is highly questionable and bordering on inept sometimes. a bad car this year just makes it even worse. two excellent drivers and this is what they have to show. sad
David David they bring a lot of fans. I’m not a Ferrari fan but if I was given the opportunity to drive an f1 car it would probably be red. It’s special when your wheel has the prancing horse. I think everyone knew this would be a tough year not this tough but it was clear from the start they are getting ready for the next two years I mean they put Vettel on the market before the season started they clearly don’t think they have what they need this year
FIA: We are going to band party mode to take away Mercedes Advantage. Lewis: - P1 with track record and fastest ever lap in F1 history and almost a second clear of the rest of the field. Bottas: - P2 Toto: Ha ha... a few seconds later... Carlos: Why am I going to Ferrari next year again - P3 Perez: Curse you Carlos, hurry and go to Ferrari - P4 was P3 for few seconds. Max: WTF! - P5 - bring back party mode.
It's not about durability. It's also about fuel management and over power utilization. No F1 can can run at 100% for the duration of the race because they would run outta fuel, whilst even overheating brakes and tyres. What Mercedes is doing is to make it capable of 100% all the time, but driver pedal input is controlled. Or they have a secret Party Setting.
@@GeoSebastians I expect a lot of communication between driver and team about engine management because I think Mercedes gave the drivers party mode but they have to manage when it's used. No way they can be ,8 seconds ahead with d every one on normal race pace. They qualified with party but during the race they expect they drivers to manage the engine to the checkered flag. Or they they manipulate the pedal where the drivers can't have all the revs during the race.
@Elon Musk LoL. Hamilton would have won by over 20 seconds without the safety cars easily. Not good for the rest of the field for the remainder of the season
You should also thank F1 officials who have done everything that other teams could not develope engines that could compete with Mercedes. F1: Ferrari has made engine that can actually compete with Mercedes. Also F1: that would make the sport too exciting lets ban Ferrari's engine.
Hendrik Tõnisson Same rules apply to all teams except Ferrari. They literally cheated with their engine and robbed the other teams out of championship points. But didn’t get disqualified for the season and got to keep all the bonus money.
@@How23497 The technical solutions used by Ferrari were not prohibited. F1 declared that engine illegal only after Ferrari had become successful with this engine.
But seriously, have the other manufacturers just given up? I don't get it. 7 seasons. This has got to change. You can't have a championship that only 2 people have a chance of winning. Especially when Mercedes refuse to put a more competitive driver in. At least with Rosberg we had some real battles on track.
@@josephstanfields3510 That's also why Verstappen can't come close on this track, he got the much worser car, but when the track is complicated other drivers lose time because it's too complex and Max doesn't because he can still handle it. Horrible solution actually. F1 is about speed. Instead of making others fast, they try to make the leaders slower. I am glad it didn’t work out right, so now I want to ser they bringing party mode again.
What’s party mode?
