- Logic’s recently announced that his next album, Everybody, will be released on May 5, and today he dropped the project’s title track. “Everybody” was the first song the Maryland MC wrote for the album almost two years ago, and while he didn’t originally have a concept for the whole album, he knew he had a lot that he wanted to get off his chest.

Jordan, should we judge all communities by the shit things inherent in them then? Christianity was built on the most times violent subjugation of European pagan communities, America was built on the subjugation of Native Americans and imported slaves, nothing has a clean backstory. Islam as a religion does contain violence in it's passages (as with Christianity, Judaism, etc.), but that doesn't for a minute mean that every person (or even the majority of people) in their belief systems reflect that. I've met very kind religious people who don't care what you identify as and I've met very horrible religious people who kill, incite violence, wish for violence, etc. Islam has some inherent problems, but so does any system. We in the Anglosphere often just look at the issues that seem obvious to us in other cultures, religions, etc. without looking at the problems in ours that are obvious to outsiders.
And with your first comment, again, you're very quick to notice problems in other cultures ("From the Qur'an to the Sunnah of Muhammad, to Abu Bakr, 'Umar and the other Caliphs, Islam is a violent ideology belonging in the 7th century Arabia."), but not the ones we face. I could spin the Anglosphere or your religion or your culture the same way because every system, without fail, was built on violence at one point in time. Like cultures, however, religions (and other systems) can change over time. Most Muslims don't subscribe to the xenophobia and violent subjugation of others that the Qur'an talks about, just like how most Christians don't subscribe to all of the shitty parts of the Bible or how most Jews don't support the more vile passages of the Torah. Can we talk about the fact that this is one of the first Genius verified videos where an artist is actually talking about their lyrics on an analytical level as opposed to all these other artists just saying their lyrics out loud and explaining one or two bars? I haven't sat down and watched the whole verified series but I checked the catalog and at 8 minutes Logic's video is literally the longest out of the whole lot so I think that's saying something. And right behind Logic's video are Joey Bada$$ and Common, so yeah real rap is real rap.
