OK so the upside-down magic books were lowkey better than the movie. Like the movie is good as a movie, but as an adaptation of a book it's just not as good. The conflict seems more generic and less intriguing, while the book had good conflict, more interesting and fleshed out characters, and a more real feeling of growth. Might just be nostalgia glasses since it's been a LONG while since I've read the books, but all I know is that reading the books, I felt something, unlike the movie, where I felt literally nothing (well I felt angry that they changed so much but what can you do). I'd usually say to watch the movie before reading the book so that you have an appreciation for it as a movie, but honestly, I think that it will dull down the feeling, while reading the book if you watch the movie first. Overall, I'd say read the book, then watch the movie so you can see what not to do when adapting a book into a film.
No. They added a bunch of junk to the movie that wasn't there. It was worse than the books I agree. For one she went to a popular school her father was head at. After that he sent her to her adults but no that was completely changed. That was tho first things. I think Disney is okay but the have ruined some of my favorite things.
