    Glad to hear you didn’t disrespect the Ventis too much. Although you were vindicated at the end. You are the primary reason I bought one. Not sorry I did even though I almost never bring it out. But when you want to go winging and there is almost no wind, you better have something like the Ventis in your quiver. So far, no interest in flat water paddle up. Looks like way too much effort for the reward. Always entertaining Jeremy. Thanks for taking us along.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  6 месяцев назад

      Hahaha yeah no disrespect on the Ventis here! I don’t dislike it at all, I just haven’t had a need for it lately after I got the DW board and have been focusing more on that and newer HA foils. I was thinking about selling it in the last month but after this recent sesh, I reckon it stays! Glad yr digging it too! And no worries about the paddle ups… def not for everyone. I have this spot down the street from my house that is perfect for it, and it’s a total workout. So I’m hooked but I totally see how most will have no interest putting their mind and body through these efforts. It totally sucks until it gets better 😂 going deep right there. The speeds are interesting. I have an 880 and run it with a 232 just cause it’s stable and easy.
    The best speed I can get is 14mph. Usually 12-13 cruising and spiking to 14.
    What makes you go faster? More wind? More wing? Better skill?

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  Месяц назад

      Pure stoke!! 😎👊👊
      The 880 I can def get to rip into the 20’s. I haven’t spend tested it in forever but I’m guessing I could get it to like 24 or 25 going down the right wave.
      The v1 232 is def a little draggier than the newer ones. I would recommend using a red and a blue shim for the 232 and 205 tails. That makes them more efficient/less draggy. You may need to move your mast a little forward if you dont shim now. The next thing would be to get a smaller foil. The 140 is great, and way more user friendly than you’d think with its size. I used to ride all stabs with both shims and now I’m kinda going back to no shims on the 140, it’s still fast but slightly more stability. And the last thing, add lots of wind! Rig big and try flatwater and start to figure out what angles get the fastest speeds. I hope this helps!
      Thanks for the comment bud and I wish you an awesome 2025!!

  • @chrispewkreme
    @chrispewkreme 2 месяца назад +1

    Do you have any comparison with the HAv2? I have an 880 for prone and it’s soooo good.
    I’ve recently gotten into winging and learned on a 2400. Way too slow but it’s stable and got me up. Next was a HS1850 and I love it. I just wanna go faster. So I figured maybe a HA1080 or a APF1350.
    APF seems to be the key. The Cf2050 also has me interested for a spare setup for my buddy.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 месяца назад

      For winging?? The 880 is great. It has everything, lots of lift, decent speed, still turns, pumps. So I’d use that and then think about what direction your want to go. 1080 or 1180 are great but I rarely wing with foils bigger than the 880, it’s my light wind wing.

  • @chrispewkreme
    @chrispewkreme 2 месяца назад +1

    That 1180 looks unreal! I could see the speed difference.

      @OCEANBOUND1  2 месяца назад

    Great review. Thanks. Middle of summer in Virginia and wind is low often. If you had to pick just the 1350 or the HA 1180, which one is more stable in the turns and what is the low end of both? Thanks

      @OCEANBOUND1  6 месяцев назад

      sup bud! sorry I guess I missed this comment. I'd personally pick the 1180, but the 1350 will have a little better low end. the turning is a little different, in ways I think the 1180 acts like a more normal foil, so that feel better to me turning but stability-wise the 1350 is pretty damn solid! LMK what you end up getting!! thanks and I wish you an awesome weekend!

    Great break down, enjoyed it, thanks! Just swapped the 1675 for the 1350 and I agree on your points. I also feel that the PM795 is not stiff enough to really handle the bigger APF for me at 172lbs/78kg, especially with the 202 tail or in turbulent water. And I’m also amazed by the different sections along the span of the 1350, it seems very sophisticated and an evolution of the first two APFs. I wonder if I can pump longer distance and/or time with the 1350? What do you think?

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  6 месяцев назад

      awesome, thank YOU! interesting you don't think of the 795 as stiff enough. I haven't experienced that but I'll totally try to notice if I can feel that in my next sessions. totally agreed, the evolution is real. the 1350 is kinda it's own thing, with characteristics of both it's the bigger APF siblings and HA cousins. I totally think I can pump it better, mostly cause the 1675 is so awkward that I tend to make a mistake on it, where the 1350 is a little more natural and as I get more tuned to it I think things will be easier to keep the pump going. looking pretty flat in the next week or so around here so there will be lots of paddling.
      thanks bud, I wish you an awesome weekend!

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  3 месяца назад +1

      awww thanks bud! I love putting tunes in my vids and sometimes it really takes them to another level. between those two... the 1350 has way more low end. but the 1180 has more speed and def turns better. a lot depends on what you are using it for. for winging, the 1180 will prolly be the most you'd need. I love surfing the 1180 too, my first pump outs were achieved on the 1180 and I'm planning on using it primarily for dw. it's got a good pump. but for paddling on the flat, the 1350 will be better for sure, especially when starting (I'd recommend 1675 to start). my friend and I were out yesterday in big chop/waves on almost identical setups except he had a 1350 and I rocked an 1180. the 1180 was great, he was a little frustrated cause the 1350 was not fast enough on seme waves.
      hope this helps! I wish you an awesome day!!

I actually kinda liked the 1675, until the 1350.Picking up my 7m CWC tomorrow, replacing my V3 8m, pretty stoked, rode a buddies and the weight and handling felt like a 6m but with as much power has my old 8. awww thanks so much bud! I suppose I've been unnecessarily hard on the 1675, as I alluded to in this video, I struggled with the 1675 for a long time, and I'm sure that a lot of that was technique and not enough time on it. but the 1350 is indeed better in turning, speed, I even prefer the pump... so it's easy to kick that 1675 to the curb. def would still recommend it to people starting out.
      And stoked about the CWC!! FOne just sent me a 6m CWC with hard handles and I took it out on one sesh and I loved it. def recommend the hard handles for the big ones. I hope you love it, so much better than the v3 IMO!

    And I thought my biggest foil HA980 has crazy low-end. I also argument with that and a DW board you don’t need bigger than a 5,5 or 6,0 meter wing. If the wing has a good low end. I bigger wing has more drag, I did a back to back test anyway and is what I figured

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  6 месяцев назад +1

      sup bud! yeah I think of the 1180 more of a surf and paddle foil, and my 880 is more my light wind foil. I can get out in less with the 1180, but I'm really not super into going out in wind that low. 13-14 is my cutoff these days, otherwise I'll paddle. I def agree with the wing size as well. that's why I haven't used that 7m Ventis in 9 months, the dw board and a HA foil make smaller 5m sizes work. this was my second attempt at doing speed trials on these foils, it's it's really hard to do speed runs and push limits when you are kinda underpowered. so that's why I brought the 7m to push speed, and I'm glad I did!

My friend has had a lot of practice, and he rocked the 1180 the best (went right out and bought one). so it can def be done! I wanted to practice more but they took our dock away and I haven't had a chance to figure out another launch.

    • @jacobstr
      @jacobstr 6 месяцев назад

      @@OCEANBOUND1 Cheers, this is a bit of a curiosity for me. I've got an MA 1750 that I originally got with the intent of dock starting that has since been relegated to my light wind wing. It's very much like driving a school bus though. Also previously had the old HA 1525 and that was even worse.
      Probably need to decouple my two concerns and get a light wind foil that can glide alongside the slow windswell in bodies of water I ride in while still having some speed / maneuverability and maybe a dedicated foil for flatwater pumping when the curiosity strikes.
      I _think_ that might be the HA 1180.

    Wait, what? After leaving us hanging on the whole big wing dilema series it turns out you actually went with a ventis? Maybe I missed something there but it looks really sweet with those big articulated handles.
    Maybe I missed something but I think the people deserve a CWC/Ventis final showdown!
    Love the big foil comparison BTW. I still want a freaking 1675 just to know what that feels like and mess around with dock starts, and wake foiling all over the damn place. I am 200 lbs.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  Месяц назад +2

      Hahaha yeah I silently kinda went with the Ventis. Which I still have. But I have only used it once or twice in the last year, cause i can usually make smaller wings work with the ML or DW boards now. The Ventis is great, and I went with it because of the handles. The newer CWC is great with handles, but the Ventis handles are longer and I prefer the length of the front one, but the FOne handles have a nice grip and shape. If I were to do a showdown, it makes the most sense to use the newest models. It could work, that all depends on my wing dealer’s generosity.
      The 1675 is great but for dock starting and whatnot the 1350 may be better. It’s so much easier to turn the 1350. But man, I’m out of shape now and I was paddling today and totally wished I had the 1675!

    • @snugkillsit
      @snugkillsit Месяц назад

      @ I am very tempted by those new duotone handles! The new unit may end up being what I go to after retiring my strike 5.5 but I’m also keeping an eye on the “budget” PPC. For those of us trapped on flat water the longer boards just don’t make much sense I feel and the bigger wings are still a necessity.
      It will be a tough choice for me between these big foils but at 200 lb I keep thinking the 1350 just won’t deliver the stall speed and pump I want. I find it strange that the wingspan is the same and yet they turn so differently but if I end up disappointed with the turning of the 1675 at least you gave me fair warning. I expect to find one used so I don’t mind rolling the dice some compared to the price of a new 1180.
