Well, shame that CEO didn’t really appreciate what a great show Fox had at that time. Had it stuck around longer than a year, I think it would have ended up really challenging “Millionaire“ in the ratings, especially considering that it was sometime after the 2000s/2001 TV season started that “Millionaire” began to slip. Actually out of all the million dollar game shows to debut after “Millionaire,“ didn’t this one get the best ratings?
Even though the challenger is given a risk-free $10,000 cash prize just for challenging? With $10,000 guaranteed regardless of the Terminator outcome or the entirety of the game in general I'd have a hard time passing that up myself.

Hello, David. I don't know if you're still actively posting here since I'm replying to a seven-year-old comment, but I like your strategy on not Terminating... assuming you wouldn't have challenged anyone? The thing about it is, losing in a Terminator match but having $10k and being kicked out of the game is better than being shown the door penniless. Ask, Jackie Brakeman from the November 11 episode. Curtis Warren eliminated her before the Million Dollar Question and she lost, going home with absolutely nothing but the clothes on her back. Leaving with only $10k is also better than going for $1m or $2m with a $400k or $800k stake and getting the question wrong. Plus since your team was on Super Greed, your team had that guaranteed $200k safety net.
I honestly didn't know when any of the correct answers happened. I only knew this answer because I knew all four of the wrong answers happened in the 1980's.
NightHawk12to81 Believe the last Carson show was 1992, Jerry Garcia's death was 1995, MJ married Lisa Marie in '94, and the Thomas appointment I THINK was 1991.
You guys got Lucky with the Question of what was going on in the 90's I know we'll never see a Question like that again! since it's almost the end of the Decade it makes me wonder what Events happen in 2010 to now?
You're welcome David. You deserved every bit of the $800,000 coming to you. I bet you still think about that great day that you had on GREED after 16 years.
Signatelli I think I know the answer to this but if the challenger won the terminator but the tean got the following question wrong, would the challenger still get to keep the $10,000?
$4M less the $1.2M that Phyllis & Lauren would have left with. You watched, I didn't want to risk going for the question we won with. My $2.8M question would've had 9 choices, and it would NOT have been easy. "Emmy Award TV Shows"? Too vague a category for my liking. Discretion was the better part of valor for our team!
it was TV prime time hits. So it could be which shows were hits the longest, or something else. It is always very general and unless you know a lot of it, it is not worth risking.
Good for you stopping. You come close to go for the top. You probably have been watching Daniel Avila's $2.2 million jackpot and thinking it's too much money to lose. I will be fine with $800K.
This was a bit of an easy question. I knew the answers simply by eliminating all the answers that were wrong. Nintendo and New Coke were both in 1985, and Berlin Wall and the Valdez were both in 1989. Simple process really.
Connor, it WAS a relatively easy one. All the more surprising to me because by the time you got to that stage of the game they were usually quite a bit tougher. Which is why I wanted to quit before we saw it. I'd seen too many episodes of GREED where the group should have cashed out while the going was good, and regretted getting to this level.
@@treymatthews5251 I'd have to assume it would have been TV. I've never heard the phrase "prime time" used to categorize music, but it's frequently used to refer to the evening block of television.
David congrats on the 800k but you do realize you'd be an absolute legend by taking on the 4 million dollar question on your own, right? You'd be the most famous contestant and it would've been the most famous moment in tv game show history
$4M is a bit misleading. With Phyllis & Lauren leaving with a combined $1.2M between them, I believe that meant it would have left me playing solo for what was left of the pot. $2.8M up for grabs. The question was going to be hard AND tricky/misleading. As an avid watcher of the show I knew that there was little chance that I could've pulled it off. No walking away, 4 right answers out of 9 choices, and zero dollars if I screwed up. To be honest my trivia knowledge is like a puddle. Wide but not very deep. Not really much that I would consider myself THAT good at. 70's Rock? Hitchcock or old B&W films? Stephen King novels? Maybe. This was still pretty fresh in my mind, so TV shows didn't inspire a lot of confidence... m.ruclips.net/video/TMUWxeKB6QE/видео.html&autoplay=1
Daniel was playing for $2.2M alone even though Curtis and Melissa left with part of it. So if they were sticking with the same format you would have had that $4M shot anyway. And you already had $80K of the $200K your team was guaranteed for getting the $1M question right, so not the same all or nothing situation Daniel was faced with. That $200K guarantee was something I didn't like about Super Greed. They tried to make it more like WWTBAM by using guaranteed money to entice people to go for the jackpot. The all or nothing style of Greed was what made it so uniquely awesome. We the viewers at home felt like we were sweating along with the contestants through these questions and really getting behind them. Teams might have taken less risks in regular Greed than they did in Super Greed or WWTBAM, but it felt more special when those risks paid off.
I think Art is right David, had the other two dropped out and you decided to go you would've playing for the full $4 million. Obviously the question would've been close to impossible, but had you tried for it you would've become game show legend. It would've been clearly the most significant moment in the history of game shows. Not sure it's worth throwing away $800k just to live that moment, but I believe there's some unseen equity in deciding to go.
008ets If they used the same premise as the $2.2million question, it would of been a question about some top 20 or 25 list with the primetime hits (assuming tv shows) and all of the 9 possible answers being on that list
I think Dan Avila's $2,200,000 question was the only time the final question has ever been seen on this show. With 4 out of 9 on a top-tier difficulty question, you'd have to be really confident in the category to even think about going for it.
Wonder if was a category that any of these 3 would consider going for the 4 million. Obviously "Prime time hits" was a firm no. I wish Chuck showed the 4 million dollar question just for shiggles
This was the only other time during the show's run besides the Dan/Curtis/Melissa team that a team was deciding individually whether or not to go for the jackpot question. Unfortunately, what happened to Mr. Avila made it virtually impossible that any future contestants would ever try to answer that question again. People were no longer coming on the show to be greedy, they were coming on to win $200K or $500K together as a team and call it a day. I wonder to this day, did Daniel know that he was not going to be offered a bailout for 3 correct answers on his $2.2M question? That could have influenced his decision.
@superchampion88 Well if you're the captain, you keep your position but get their money in the process. Chuck probably said it because that is the way it normally is.
Dude no offense but this game show was by far the easiest way to make a shit load of money. You barely had to do anything to get 800k. I knew all the answers to the 3 questions without looking it up. The soda one not 100% but I guessed the 4 correct as it was kinda obvious to me. Congrats though and yes I am jealous.
I like this game show way better than who wants to be a millionaire but the questions were too easy. We're talking 2 million!! Not exactly chump change
I would of stopped the same time they did, because $800,000 is a lot of money to take a chance on. I mean you can buy a very nice house where I live outside of Chicago. Besides would you want to take a chance with that kind of money and end up blowing it?
Greed should have at least got a second season, I heard that when Greed was on it won it's timeslot, I would have gone for at least a second season. I stink at trivia but it's fun to watch. I definitely did know the soda question though. What was it like meeting Chuck Woolery, I grew up as a kid watching him on Scrabble and Love Connection . I actually ending up liking Greed and 21 more than Millionaire .
Greed would've gone on a lot longer except Fox got a new president over the summer of 2000 and she apparently wasn't a fan of game shows and had Greed cancelled because she wanted the network to focus more on "scripted" programming.

I always found it funny how when they revealed the first answer it sounded like Chuck was happy that Jerry Garcia died.
I know the next question would have been tougher probably, but was there any categories that you would have made think about going for the 4 million?
Thanks Robby, glad you thought so too!
You're welcome David. You deserved every bit of the $800,000 coming to you. I bet you still think about that great day that you had on GREED after 16 years.
How come u had more than the others. I never really understood how everybody got different amounts and didn't the terminator give u chills.
Signatelli I think I know the answer to this but if the challenger won the terminator but the tean got the following question wrong, would the challenger still get to keep the $10,000?
@@mrbow50001 Yeah. Chuck said $10K, win OR lose. The $10,000 is guaranteed.
Chuck was wrong when he said he never gave away that much money. He gave away $2,000,000 on his version of The Big Spin.
Technically, this was the only team in Greed history to have won $2 million. Lisa and John's question about pre-MTV events was more epic though.
Had John changed Mac introduced to Sarah Michelle Gelar born instead of Post it notes, they'd won $2,000,000
someone already posted this before you did as "For $2,000,000...."but this is in much Better Quality though but I thought you should know!
It makes me wonder what the $4,000,000 question would have been...
Well, that team didn't want to gamble a lot.
it was TV prime time hits. So it could be which shows were hits the longest, or something else. It is always very general and unless you know a lot of it, it is not worth risking.
@@sha11235 It also could've been a question like which shows had the highest ratings or something like that.
Sounds good to me. I think they pulled the plug on it WAAAAAY too soon! :-D
Good for you stopping. You come close to go for the top. You probably have been watching Daniel Avila's $2.2 million jackpot and thinking it's too much money to lose. I will be fine with $800K.
lawandorder888 I would have been happy stopping sooner! Phyllis made the (right) choice for us! :-)
David Juliano but if Chuck gave your team a second chance would you've gone for it or still stopping at the $800K share of the $2 million?
I've been wandering, why did you go on all these game shows to win all that money and what did you do with it?
This was a bit of an easy question. I knew the answers simply by eliminating all the answers that were wrong. Nintendo and New Coke were both in 1985, and Berlin Wall and the Valdez were both in 1989. Simple process really.
Connor, it WAS a relatively easy one. All the more surprising to me because by the time you got to that stage of the game they were usually quite a bit tougher. Which is why I wanted to quit before we saw it. I'd seen too many episodes of GREED where the group should have cashed out while the going was good, and regretted getting to this level.
@@crapsman7 I've always wanted to know what they meant by Prime time Hits. Were they talking in the sens of TV shows or music?
@@treymatthews5251 I'd have to assume it would have been TV. I've never heard the phrase "prime time" used to categorize music, but it's frequently used to refer to the evening block of television.
Dont know if this is to personal or anything but how much in taxes did you have to pay?
David congrats on the 800k but you do realize you'd be an absolute legend by taking on the 4 million dollar question on your own, right? You'd be the most famous contestant and it would've been the most famous moment in tv game show history
Yeah, but I think after seeing Dan go for $2.2 million and losing, David thought it wasn't worth risking $800K to try to get about 5x that.
@@MetalSmasherGaming I'm still shocked he picked tuna as one of his options. If he chose baby powder, I would've understood
I would've gotten the 2 million dollar question right.
One of the Biggest Winner on Super Greed is $2 Million Dollars.
If I was on the team, I would've gone for Prime Time Hits.
This team and David Avila's team are my two favorites.
I want to see if the Madeline Ali team episode was ever uploaded
*Dan Avila
And i also want to see the episode with Madeleine Ali from 12/10/1999 which hasn't been posted yet
How much did u win
I know Curtis won $1,410,000, but who was the 2nd highest winner? (Unless Curtis was the 2nd)
David won $800K. A share of a $2,000,000 pot.
David juliano did you save any that money
I can see why the 3 of you opted to stop...we all saw what happened with Dan Avila back in November 1999 (he was THAT close to $2.2 million).
And again in 2000 when he came back for the million dollar moment.
I mean, $800K or $400K is just too much money to risk on a chance at $4 million with no bailout.
David, if Chuck offered to let you "see what would have happened if you had decided to go for it", would you have wanted to?
She didn't want to be the next dan Avila
You won any money
They all won a share of a $2,000,000 pot. David and Lauren won $800,000, while Phyllis left with $400,000.
Wonder if was a category that any of these 3 would consider going for the 4 million. Obviously "Prime time hits" was a firm no. I wish Chuck showed the 4 million dollar question just for shiggles
Do you remember how you spent your $800K or do you remember how Phyllis spent her $400K?
This was the only other time during the show's run besides the Dan/Curtis/Melissa team that a team was deciding individually whether or not to go for the jackpot question. Unfortunately, what happened to Mr. Avila made it virtually impossible that any future contestants would ever try to answer that question again. People were no longer coming on the show to be greedy, they were coming on to win $200K or $500K together as a team and call it a day.
I wonder to this day, did Daniel know that he was not going to be offered a bailout for 3 correct answers on his $2.2M question? That could have influenced his decision.
Art Vandelay I dont think anyone knew besides the producers on whether Dan got a bailout or a chance to change an answer

I agree I liked this game way better than Who wants to be a millionaire but the questions were too easy. We're talking 2 million!!
I like this game show way better than who wants to be a millionaire but the questions were too easy. We're talking 2 million!! Not exactly chump change
That was Pretty Ballsy of Phyllis she could have Picked you David or Lauren but she decided I need my Team Mates to get through this Question
I think that's why most of the people challenge, because even if you lose the challenge, you still get 10,000 dollars.
I would go for $4 million dollars
I would of stopped the same time they did, because $800,000 is a lot of money to take a chance on. I mean you can buy a very nice house where I live outside of Chicago. Besides would you want to take a chance with that kind of money and end up blowing it?
2:50, 3:04, 3:21, 4:54
4 correct answers.

Lauren is hot.. lol
I agree.
@@robbyosborne9708Also I would have taken the Cash & ran since the Jackpot Question is usually tough.
@@markheying2830 Same here, Mark.
I wanted to be a contestant so bad and even phone calls to try take the first step
