    Love your content! You are crushing third grade. Sounds like your kids are learning so much and so are you and that’s what it’s all about. Would love to hear more about your planning process and how you go about planning for the week when you have time to make a video like that! Also super curious about your grading process and how you structure grading then inputting grades into whatever you put it into. Thanks for sharing this glimpse into your teacher life!

    I use the weekly progress check-ups for the vocabulary and word study portion of the tests, and I add cold reads from the site, too. You can differentiate the cold reads on the test by using BL, OL, AL stories provided. That reaches your students where they are as they progress. I add the story comprehension questions from one of the TpT resources to assess them as well and let them use their book on test. Sometimes, I will assign some of the cold reads in my Google Classroom as part of my technology center.

    You seem so confident and enthusiastic. Do you think some of that has to do with it being the beginning of the year, or does 3rd grade feel like a better fit? Or maybe it’s the new school?
    I’d love to see another hubby takeover vlog, or just more content with the two of you. Maybe some more stuff centered around your non-work life?

    Thank you for another vlog showing how your teaching days are going. Do you have actual reading textbooks or is everything a printout and online? Do you plan to create little colorful game centers for third grade as you had for the first graders? How do you like the independence level of this age group compared to the first graders, is it noticeable or about the same for end of year first grade? (lots of questions today) :-) You look very relaxed and less stressed in your new school.

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 года назад

      We have actual reading textbooks for students and they are consumable so students can write, underline, and highlight on the pages and in the stories which I like! I would love to develop more centers for third grade but so many of my first grade ones were phonics related so I'd have to figure out what kind of centers third graders need. The independence difference is definitely pretty huge! Specifically in regards to their ability to read, decode, and write! Other things like independence in their work and behavior maturity.. well kids will be kids haha! I FEEL relaxed and less stressed so it's so great to hear that that is reflected even in my vlogs 😊

    I'm enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing. Would you mind explaining, either here or in a video, more about how you are teaching them to do rotations? You mentioned grading so you can work on their rotation responsibilities. Does that mean you are grading their work to show them they are accountable for completing the work? Thanks for any response you can give to make rotations successful. I really want to have time for a small group or one on one.

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 года назад

      The test had a writing question worth 20 points that our students were not required to complete but I gave them the 20 points credit. Kinda curved it since it was our first test of the year and first time testing on the myView online platform. We are using cold read fluency passages for progress monitoring in addition to the new FAST test that is required in the state of FL.

    We piloted My View last year, but went with Into Reading instead. I wondered if your primary grades like My View? We had a big revolt against it, but I wondered how a school that is actually using it feels? Just curious!

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  2 года назад

      So far I don't think many teachers are a huge fan... There was a big delay in receiving our materials so many classrooms just now got their TEs. Into Reading was another option for adoption, how do you like it??

    • @leahjohnston4152
      @leahjohnston4152 2 года назад

      @@mrs_katie_in_elementary I teach Kinder and I like it just fine. I have to supplement a little, but not nearly as much as I would with My View. The literature in Into Reading is really good for kinder, so I love that! It's just not as strong in phonics and phonemic awareness as I'd like. Honestly, it's hard to find the perfect curriculum!
