@@JL-qk2sk I use the ‘one-cal per spray’ type but any oil that can be sprayed on should do the trick. Don’t be upset if the first try isn’t perfect,it takes a bit of practice.
I'm gonna make these this weekend.. it looks so good. I like that it's basically air fried without soaking it in oil. I'm excited to see how it turns out.
I've just bought a Louisiana BBQ grill with the turn handle for raising and lowering the charcoal tray. I've never ventured with chicken but oh my days. This video has converted me. A local butcher in my area does 5 kilos of fresh chicken breast for £13.50. I'm off the get 2 lots. thankyou for this video
There's a buffalo chicken thigh appetizer on the menu at McGuier's in Florida that reminds me of this.. I'd add some buffalo sauce to the wet mix and maybe some cornstarch to the dry and boom, perfect crispy buffalo chicken. This is a great video/recipe. Looks and sounds delicious.
I havent tried on a charcoal grill yet but i do use the same technique in my home convection oven. Comes out great. I do brine my chicken overnight (which i recommend),because you do lose moisture in dry heat.
@@PostalBarbecue I will do it later this week, was hoping for this last Sunday but did not workout. I will also post your channel on my post for my channel as well, I will not dare try to take credit for your recipe. Just FYI.
Hey welcome, I'm glad you found the channel! Take a look a round and then let me know if there is anything you might like to see cooked up! Cheers bud.
Thank you for the video, looking forward to trying this! Would be okay to just lightly baste with avocado or peanut oil instead of using the spray, right?
Just watched this..... looks GREAT! That said.. I just looked on your website and I couldn't find the recipe in the "Poultry" section. Was I looking in the wrong area?
Postal Barbecue Sorry Brother but don’t no how 2 tag and have no idea what ig photo means / BUT I KNOW Smokin Protien and that🐔 is Part of My MOJO 🔪🇺🇸🔥💨
Man you can hear the crunch. Im in love with fried chicken. But stay away for the most part. The occasional KFC STOP helps with the withdrawals. I make it at home but the mess is nuts. I love anything I can achieve on the bbq. This so much cleaner than frying. Excellent job. And even on the affordable Weber. 👍👍👍👍
Hello there My name is Tim Williams and I was watching you Barbeque Kettle Fried Chicken. I also want to know can you also do the same way with Bone In Chicken Breast? if so please let me know how long do you have to grill them? Thank you and I look forward to receiving more of your recipes. Tim Williams
If you can cook bone-in thighs and legs, you can cook bone-in breasts. Grill them to 165° and remove from heat. White meat is done at 165°. Dark meat requires higher internal temperature, hence the higher temps he mentioned in the video.
Dumb question but what is the Vinegar used here, I'm in the UK and our default vinegar is malt vinegar. Is that what you have used. Going to made this today if I can get an answer then many thanks.
The bbq rub recipe posted doesn't include onion, but you mentioned it verbally in the video. I'm sure it would be inconsequential, but was curious if you used onion. Thanks for the recipe; I'm making it right now. Keep up the great videos!
First, this NOT a complaint in any way. Next... I've done this 4 times now in my BGE, and no matter what I do, no matter how much I monitor for high enough heat, that first flip leaves wayyy too much of the awesome exterior on the grates. I've sprayed with 500+ def cooking oil (both the grates and the food), you name it... it's truly perplexing! My question, in a truly "indirect" cook, I feel like I could go full "no flip" until it's done (maybe spritzing with said cooking oil along the way if it looks too dry). Thoughts?
Hello there; My name is Tim Williams and I was wondering have you ever Kettle fried bone in Chicken Breast?.if not can you do the same thing? Please let me know thank you Tim Williams
spraying with the cooking spray was a great time. Baking fried chicken after you've done the dredge and dry ingredients has a bad effect of leaving the ingredients dry and discolored. Grilling in this fashion is akin to baking so the same rule would apply in an oven. You can see from your product there are some bits which are a bit lighter than others, likely due to lack of spray. Overall though, excellent job and you were enjoying that way too much!! Thanks for the video
I've tried this 4 times now. The secret is spraying the chicken as it cooks. This is now the favourite food all my guests ask for when I bbq! 🙂
what kind of oil should i use to spray on the chicken, looks crunchie and yummy 😋😋
@@JL-qk2sk I use the ‘one-cal per spray’ type but any oil that can be sprayed on should do the trick. Don’t be upset if the first try isn’t perfect,it takes a bit of practice.

Oh hell yeah Jabin! Love deep fried chicken, but can't stand the wasted oil and cleanup deep frying. Great job, Cheers!
yeah same here. This is a great hack to have fried style chicken without the mess and waste.
Much healthier than deep fried
Hey Jabin. You mentioned you used onion. How much did you add to the rub ? Also. Would you suggest powder or granulated in this application.
Thank you for cooking the dark meat to 185, texture of the meat is way better at that temp than 165 for the dark.
yeah i agree.. 185 is my preferred for dark meat chicken.
Hello Jabin!! Where do you purchase your racks you have your chicken on?
G’day mate, do you reckon I’d get benefit from leaving the chicken in the fridge for a few hours after coating in flour mix/buttermilk?
Should we season the chicken before coating in the flower? Or does it have enough flavor just from whats in the flour?

Thanks for the vid! Instead of the milk and vinegar, could you just go ahead and use buttermilk instead? Just wondering
Yup you totally can.

I did this cook yesterday. The skin did not crisp up. The breading was crispy but a lot of it flaked off. I used my slow and sear.

Hey man. I’ll look into that. Usually I match the onion and garlic. It says 1tbs garlic so it was likely 1tbs onion powder as well.
Also tag me in an IG post when you’re done. I’d love to see it.

I don’t have a slow and sear. Will this work ok if I just bank the coals to one side?
Yeah for sure that will work great!
Will the chicken hold in a warm oven w/out losing its crispiness?
Im doing this today. Going to use duck fat spray when i flip em.....Thanks for the vid.
YES. Duck fat will work well.
I have only a gas grill with a smoker box. Would this recipe work on a gas grill with the chicken in the cool zone?
It should work but i havn't tried it that way before. give it a go an let me know how it goes.
