The way the Chinese criticize and treat their celebrities is so unfair….there are humans can’t you people allow them to breath freely cos they are scared to work, eat, walk etc you guys should free them alittle
This continued cancellation situation is ridiculous. Considering what is happening that side of the world, they could use ever penny in revenue collected in taxes from those actors so why “ cut off your nose, to spite your face”. Complete nonsense ‼️
Hi Marcus! Thanks for all the updates. Looking forward to the Dylan Wang/Bailu drama. She looks lovely in the stills. Not going to see the other drama with Luo. Tragedy not my cuppa. The Angelababy and Jiangni "scandal" is just crazy, especially when it's the c-netizens reporting it to the authorities. Celebrity-monitoring is getting quite powerful these days on social media. Just yesterday, a star of Schitt Creek had to make a post apologizing for dressing up as Johnny Depp with her friend as Amber Heard for Halloween. She posted pictures and had to take them down when netizens over here in the States started criticizing her for bad taste (social taboo of abuse). The thing is, a lot of Halloween costumes yearly are chosen because of it being "in bad taste." In my opinion, nobody should apologize for going to a striptease show or dressing up in bad taste, but then, I'm not the one being canceled by the authorities. I do feel sorry for both actresses. One day, you have a great job, and the next, the government makes you disappear. AND the citizens there agree to this.... Anyway, have a great weekend! I'm off to watch Mr. and Mrs. "Smith." Heh.
The thing os they know the rules, it's not something new, china priority it's good exemplo for the youth, so they have rules. It's not a bad thing for one country have principles, so they shoud think better before engaging in something that could result in ban.
Speaking of Halloween costumes, I read somewhere that the rapper Lil Nas X dressed as a used sanitary napkin.. his social media comment section blew up. Anyway, have a great weekend!

So they banning her for something that wasn't done in China, kinda has no effect on her as she's looking more to the West to promote, also her own country isn't affected by it and not chewing her out. AB and ZJ...ahhh it's just another day in Cent.....hopefully it's just a temporary block and it doesn't exculate....is there evidence the women went inside and watched the show??? Still I find it weird they are losing jobs for not even being apart of the performance...ahh the thin ice Chinese celebs have to walk carefully on...probably they thought being there inside or not, in another country, it wouldn't be a big deal....China's censors thinks differently though as it shows though. Wonderland of Love, Only For Love, Love is Panacea..added to my long drama list to watch...check!!😅😊

@supa3ek You don't think it's crazy to get banned just because there happens to be a building, person, or event next to where you are without even being involved, and just because you were in a vicinity!!?? Censorship by any government is always bad, as they can change the law however they please ...like they did when they banned Korean actors and dramas, then decided to unbanned them shortly after, completely random. You can't be for that, are you?? Talking about women rights, in the US, women call it a sexual revolution as it's in their right to be as sexual as they want and at the same time its called sexualizing women(most female artists)...where do we draw the line between one or the other? Or are they being victimized or empowered?...but I digress...
@@jummy3675 And yet there are many, many Chinese fans of Korean content in China who manage to watch their shows. And also stream kpop on Chinese platforms. It’s arbitrary, at least from the public’s perspective. The gov regulates what it wants to when it suits them and turn a blind eye other times. Also korean artist have done some promotions in 2023 in China. It’s still much more limited than before THAAD, but it happened. Now last I heard was a few moths ago about some of these promotions that did actually take place so who knows about today… Chinese government may have cracked down on it again.
Marcus Hi Another interesting update thank you. It has become more & more obvious to me that the Chinese authorities keep their citizens on a long leash ... this is a reality which Chinese nationals are surely well aware of. Attempts to dodge the system & the many "unwritten laws" will sometimes backfire. What surprised me when I started taking an interest into CDrama was how any right thinking young artist would adopt the artistic name of Angelababy; surely the person concerned & her mentors are aware of the particular inferences such a name has in the English speaking world. It would seem that this late in the day Chinese officialism has finally decided to "put its foot down" regarding even the slightest possibility that an artist with high visibility in the domestic market has any connection with less than "virtuous" behaviour, even while out & about on foreign soil. In the European context the actions of AB have no significant negative moral or political implications!

China’s rules are often arbitrary and change quickly with the political climate. What was acceptable 1 month ago may not be now, but you did it 2 months ago when it was acceptable and yet you still get cancelled 3 months later when it’s not acceptable anymore. It’s completely bonkers. Also… the truth seems to not matter. A rumor of the most ridiculous thing is enough ruin a career. Being photographed in a car outside a building where a show you didn’t attend is happening is enough to get you cancelled. It’s too much. Also, Korea doesn’t cancel celebs at nearly the rate China does. And when a celeb gets cancelled they may be blacklisted in the industry and scorned by the public, but their social media isn’t taken away to silence and punish them, they just lose their jobs etc unless there’s some criminal aspect to their issues.
What’s wrong with China regulations!? You can’t even watch a show !? It’s not them that’s on the stage shaking their booties ! I understand it wasn’t a smart move from Lisa to get involved in that provoking cabaret show, but I’m sure she knew ahead what’s to wait in front of her being a K-pop idol all that. She may think she wants to venture out to Hollywood instead and that controversy won’t effect her to jump from idol to Hollywood??? who knows… but if Angela baby gonna be cancelled because she attended the show it’s stupid and uncalled for ! Why do people complain about what happens to actors and actresses that break the rules or show bad behaviour and morals. A lot of kids and teenagers idolise these actors and if my kids were their fans I'd be disappointed as well. Just because you think it's OK for your children doesn't mean we all have to agree.
I don't understand how they will "cancel" people with no proof. It's like someone is targeting them. I get the whole conservative attitudes but some of this seems rediculious.
This is the only thing I like about Chinese government. There is no tolerance of unsocial behavior from celebraty. If you are celebrity you have responsibility, you can't do anything like a normal person do with it thinking
I guess this is another point to add what....not to do.... being a celeb in China.... Going to a private adult only show where women artfully perform in skimpy costumes...even if it's in another country regardless one entered the premises or not...check ✅️...
@@lala20th The problem is that they don’t have a clear way though. They make up new random rules all the time and the only way people learn about them is that they start canceling people just based on rumors sometimes unfounded ones 😵💫

I've never thought Dilraba was all that pretty, I think she's just considered pretty because she's basically white (racially). But I definitely don't think Subi is pretty. I know she probably uses makeup to make her eyes look bigger, but I feel like all it does is make her lips and nose look freakishly small.
First of all, we love Dilreba not because she is white, but because her heart is very beautiful. 1- Very sympathetic 2-Not cocky 3- She is a very sincere, warm-hearted girl. 4- Loves Helping 5-Never likes ostentation🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

She is beautiful since she is in her younger days the same face features/looks. Unlike most of Chinese actresses are friendly with beauty surgeons. ✌️
@@EF-nb9zg I think the language barrier will make it hard for us to communicate. However, when I said white, I meant the race (which is why I said racially in parenthesis.) And she actually is - the people group she belongs to are white (racially similar to Europeans). Of course there have been generations of intermarriage between them and Asian people groups, but they are originally white, so it's not correct for you to say all Chinese actresses are not white. She is. People from her area of China can have blonde hair and blue eyes. China has white people and she's one of them. Also, what your culture considers pretty has no bearing on what the Chinese people as a whole consider to be pretty, so it doesn't matter that white skin isn't considered pretty where you're from. It's not considered pretty where I'm from either. But the Chinese do consider it to be beautiful - many of them use skin whitening treatments and celebrities in dramas and movies have heavy makeup which makes their skin appear lighter. And I can speak from personal experience, because I have very pale white skin, which I always hated, but when I moved to China people were constantly telling me how beautiful I was (or just saying it to each other because they thought I didn't speak Chinese.) That's what Chinese (in general, maybe not every single one) think is pretty. Regarding her facial features, I already said I don't think they're pretty at all. Your comment about the surgeon doesn't make a difference. IF a surgeon ever said that, he could have been hired to say that. And even if he wasn't (and this may come as a shock to you) he has his own opinion. Everyone has an opinion. Determination of beauty is not a science. Not everyone agrees on who is pretty and who isn't. I don't think Subi is pretty at all and I don't think Dilraba is very pretty. No matter how much you wish I thought they were pretty, I don't.

What is so crazy about a private strip tease show ment for adults??? Where she literally kept on her undergarments while at the Beach women can basically go topless with thongs as bathing suits and no one frowns??? China should pay attention to their own celebs as when their scandals are exposed...many are on a different level which one wouldn't expect as they act like perfect being with mask on to hide their true personality and selves.
I also accept bans should be inplace for over the top craziness and violation that many western celebs promote...but a private show where adults attend voluntarily....nope...censorship is necessary but too much isn't good.
@multistan9582 they have the right to ban of they country celebrities who's going against their principles. It's they culture, we can't force western ideal on other people.

At this point, I don't know if it is more about whether they were there, or more about the controversy it caused. Have a great weekend!
@@MarcushereI was wondering the same. Since it appears Angelababy didn’t attend, and her Weibo was suspended not deleted, I’m guessing that’s a “warning shot” for being connected to the crazy horse performance, and after a few months she’ll have her account back. I’m guessing it’s more about warning EVERYONE than punishing her for a specific provable offense
I hope Angelababy and the other actress suspension will only be temporary .
Dilraba and her cousin Subi are both beautiful .
My Wishlist is a period c-drama with Xiao Zhan as ML and Dilraba as FL that will be awesome .
Hi Marcus! Thanks for the updates). Will def check Bai Lu& Dylan's new drama). Waiting for A Journey to Love, although it's currently posted as 2024 drama at mydramalist.
Hope you are enjoying Ripe City as much as I am). Great drama). Also watching a number of Kdramas and Scent of Time).
Am enjoying Ripe Town :)
The story of mystics is my most anticipated wuxia right now!
@@Marcushere But did he apologize? Bwahaha.
@@lala20th Oh, I'm Chinese, so I understand. Doesn't mean I agree. Esp. since the system restricts women, infanticizes them in the shows, with plenty of sexual-harrassment behavior in the CEO dramas, and many other real political crap not appropriate to discuss in this post/place. Can I just say that I laugh very hard when women watch drama females slapping each other silly over a tall guy without pointing out the social commentary of their society, and then going on to criticize other women about "behaving in a way that would shame women"? 😆 Peace, out.

Yeah these married guys who are going to hotels for an hour in the afternoon are pointing fingers-such stupid hypocrisy
So, you want people normalize perversion on public just like on the West? They have a lot of following, mostly teen girls, they would copy everything she's wear or done.
There's nothing proud about being naked and seeing Asian women 'sell' them self in Europe like that, she just paid more because she is most popular K-idol rn.

Marcus thank you for these awesome drama and celeb news. This helps me alot in keeping up with what is forthcoming. We have not seen your little munchkin in a while, I bet he has really grown! All the best and keep it coming!

I've been a subscriber for about a year now. I could unsubscribe and re-subscribe but... Thank you for good well arranged content.
Imma watch Bai Lu and Wang He Di drama, looks good, maybe the Leo Luo drama too.
How devastating that these young actors have been censored due to a stupid show they went to? Unbelievable. I really hope these actors aren't penalized for such a silly reason. One thing, I was so looking forward to "Everlasting Longing". I wish them all success in their lives without having their freedoms taken away.
I also can't wait for "Only For Love" and "Wonderland of Love".
At this time, I'm crazy about "South Wind Knows". I'm hoping to be able to finish "My Inextricable Destiny" this weekend and start either "Romance On The Farm" OR "Scent of Time". Which one do you suggest? Thx Dramalanders.
Scent of time is a mustwatch drama. One of my favourite this year, I was suspicious how they will wrap up the story but personally I really like this realistic ending. The inextricable destiny has great leading couple, both actors deserve a better script, role and cinematography.
@@irenaorsulic4827 Almost at the end of TID, waiting for the Eng Subs for the last two eps on myasiantv. I will watch scent of time and hope that I will be okay with the ending. You're not the only one who has commented on that.

The endless control measures that Chinese artists have against them are insane.

It’s wild to prefer retouched photos of your “fav celebrity”. I’ve never heard of that. Neo is fine AF without retouching! He’s one of the most beautiful men I ever seen. SMH to live in a society that encourages retouched photos versus untouched.
I totally agree. I was admiring the photos when Marcus read that Chinese fans thought they were unattractive. My first thought was what's wrong with those people. Of course they also thought Marc Chao was unattractive in 10 miles of peach blossoms. I guess beauty is subjective.
That's true ,IDK if that's coming from a fan or hater
Excited for BaiLu and Daylan's😍😍

Hi! Is it good translation or like machine generated weird subs?
@@Galaxy-Dior it's understandable. It's not the worst I've seen in Mango. Might be worth waiting til they have a few more eps translated. The Bai Lu /Dylan Wang drama on Mango has similarities issues. 😏
The dramas that i like a lot are:
Only for love and Love is Panacea..they are very good 💯☺️
I really don't understand why they are trying to destroy the lives of the actors because of this reason...They stopped their weibo..why??did they commit a crime ????Who are these cruel people?????? Unbelievable what's happening in the entertainment industry in China..I feel so sorry for all these actors or pop idols..
Only for love🎉
First time I'm happy for someone I stan not being apart of Chinese entertainment as if so her career would have being no existent right now😅....Lisa isn't Chinese and isn't promoting in China as it seems she and her Kpop agency contract ended and she didn't renew.
Yea, I was just thinking, for Lisa, maybe not too big a deal. But for AB and ZJN, could be quite costly.

There are a lot of new interesting dramas. I love Bai Lu and Dylan Wang. Also I'll check out "Fearless" and "Rising With the Wind" because of the engaging premises.
Rising with the wind is a gem. Please enjoy it

Yo China's is crazy with their ban.
Prostitution and porn is banned in china.
Im all for it actually even though i live in USA. People should not promote sexualizing women in any way. Celebrities are role models to many and should behave better.
Marcus Hi
Another interesting update thank you. In the European context the actions of AB have no significant negative moral or political implications!
thank you for your work, Marcus. 🙂
I hope you have more news about Zhao Lusi. Thank you! 🙂

@@Marcushere thanks but thing I need a bank loan🤣🤣 but looking forward to in
they have a different culture and china and korea have a very strict rules about celebrity
She has been very reserved actress to my opinion. She is not my favorite but she is all right . I be pissed if her drama with Song Weilong is not gonna air ! 😣

LIP is my next drama to watch...but I would be lying if ain't skeptical about it as it seem to have tragedy tag attached to it.... I'm curious to know how this bubble girl handle her sickness, and the lengths Dr. Gu will go and defy to help her....and falls for her despite the odds....but I feel it's not gonna end on a happy note....didn't read the novel so I have no clue about its ending.
They have a very clear way that celebrity should act, end they know the rules. So they know what will happen.
But there IS proof
Celebs and politics are two different calibre of people. Celebs entertain and get cancelled for stupid reasons. Politics is a different ball game altogether, and they deserve to be cancelled
1- Very sympathetic
2-Not cocky
3- She is a very sincere, warm-hearted girl.
4- Loves Helping
5-Never likes ostentation🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@kaya935 I'm happy for you? I like Dilraba too, never said I didn't. I just said I don't think she's pretty, even though a lot of people think she is. Your comment is completely unrelated.
@@AdeleiTeillana
Have you seen her without makeup and with Make-up? White ? Are not all Chinese actress not white ? Pretty or not because white? We considered white skin are not pretty where I live. We called not pretty but sick.it’s cultural differences. I will never dare to criticize her beauty when I look the mirror.
Dilraba has perfect face features as what beauty surgeon said.
China needs to respect the culture of another country just as we respect Chinese culture. So Chinese actors can't come to see the carnival in Brazil either, otherwise they will be cancelled? Here in Brazil, carnival isn't pornography for China, is it?!
China is very exaggerated
I wish my country blacklist celebrities that do sht like this, here they praise drg user, adultery end sell promiscuity. When I see this makes me think how culture influence on the youth, my country have o lot potential but bad exemplo celebrities are like god here, vary sad.
@@lala20th I'm not forcing Western Ideals....am not even against them banning Lisa as they are the ones who made Lisa's business their own, given her performance leans to Western ideals and not done in or have anything to do with China. I just merely say they should pay attention to their own celebs as when their scandals are revealed, most have nothing to do with Western ideals as they were raised and grown in China. Their ent industry is just as dirty as the West...its just that it's covered under the guise being conservative.
@multistan9582 if they not chinese them will not effect they lives.
About the lisa ban.
Prostitution and porn is banned in china.
Im all for it actually even though i live in USA. People should not promote sexualizing women in any way. Celebrities are role models to many and should behave better.
Some asian countries are seen as sex destinations which we definitely don't want to see !!!
Cabaret boudoir shows are neither pornography or prostitution.
It would be stupid and idiotic to think that celebrities are your role models. They are entertainers who play roles that are unrealistic and fake. Your family and more realistic people such as doctors and fireman should be the role models.😢
