As someone that used to look to these decorating channels for inspiration, I 100% agree with you. It was like watching the same home over and over with just a different face. I paired down the channels I watch and only follow ones that have a unique flare to their decorating and not a Hobby Lobby haul. Your channel as well as Debbie @yourhomeyourhappyplace are two of my favorites. You both make it your own and that’s what I’m here for. ❤
Liz...I've been watching your channel for years and will always be a fan. I love the idea of you wanting to try new decor ideas. I'm always drawn to decorators who mix the old with the new and incorporating more color and pattern. I think you're on the right track...color is everything and using different patterns adds variety, textures and balance. Thrifting and antiquing takes time but oh what a thrill it is to be on the hunt to find just the right pieces to harmonize with your own style and add a little History to your space too. I would love to watch you go to some of the antique and thrift stores in Pennsylvania. That would be a blast and I think your fans would love it too.
My theme for this year is BEAUTIFUL. How can I take my decor to the next level. Not just to buy....and decorate but where I look back at it and say...wow...it that beautiful. I am repainting. Refixing. Remodeling. Resewing. The series Bridgerton...is my inspiration. If someone thinks I am extra...I say...well at least I am not boring. And it leaves others to be inspired. Looking forward to next video.
I love your use of warm woods and touches of black but I do like color as well! You have my heart with the yellow and greens. I remember when I first found your videos years ago and I binge watched until I caught up. I always loved the blooming lamps, the color you added with florals and filler items. I love the fact you have always stood true to adding ambiance with lighting because it brings your decor to life! I love everything you do. I would watch if you decorated black and white only, lol, because you would still make it original with your ideas! I'll stick with you Liz no matter what!! I enjoy you!
I have really missed your BIG house. It was gorgeous. Debbie from Your Home Your Happy Place does wonder with colors. Please add color back into your decorating. You ask for opinions, so here we go, I think you need to embrace your home deco with curated and collections of vintage items sprinkled in your vignettes. Doing all Hobby Lobby’s, Home goods, etc. is what a lot of people eventually do because it is the easy way. But to look for vintage, curated items are fun.

I understand what you are saying, but Amazon is my bread and butter. I do, try to look for interesting pieces on Amazon. I rarely shop Hobby Lobby anymore. I do like Homegoods and Ross. I like watching people find vintage pieces but it’s not really my thing. Once in awhile I like to go antiquing, but like I mentioned, Amazon is my little business which helps pay the bills, so I try and do my best curating new looks that way. Thx for visiting with me. Wow you are not wrong when you say most everyone decorates the same! This has been a topic of discussion amongst several of us for quite a while!! Even with a couple of RUclipsrs I follow …. their floor plans are almost identical and the homes are decorated similarly!
I don’t want my home to look like everyone else’s either Liz! And really, it doesn’t!
I loved the ladder over your dining table at the big house, when you decorated it with multiple flowers. I’m most sure you could do this at your WVA home on your hanging ladder!
I first wrote this in response to another comment so if it seems disjointed that is why.
It is wonderful to let your own style to shine through however if you think about going to grandmas house and it being dated it is because as some point grandma quit making changes to her decor. Same with hair, we have all had wonderful hairstyles over the years but most of us do not want to look like we did in the 70’s.
Neutrals are very calming and soothing. To me the ladders with all of the clutter on them is very dated and something I have seen many times. It is a been there done that. A new way to use a ladder is to prop it against a wall and use it for throw blankets. I swear throws multiply on their own. I am thrilled that Liz is trying to change things up but I don’t think that the cozy, cluttered, shabby chic look is something I personally want to return to. That being said I have loved seeing Liz’s style evolve and have often bought things from her video’s. No matter what Liz does I will continue to watch her because she is a sweet, kind and creative person. I guess she has to determine the audience that is the majority on her channel and who will be clicking on the links and purchasing things they see in order to grow and monetize her channel. These videos are entertainment for the viewers but they take time and hard work to create. Long story short it is a business for Liz.

More color! Just some green just doesn’t do it. So many influencers copy each other in their colors & style. Too much white & neutral colors are getting rather old. TY Liz for this video. It has given all of us out here the ability to voice our likes & dislikes in decorating. I love your videos.

I think the most important thing is even in decorating is being content with all of the things you have. I feel like as decorators sometimes we are so busy keeping up with the trends and the Jones’s that we don’t realize how much money it takes to constantly change things up.

That's why I've switched to Homeworthy and The Potted Boxwood big time..of course I always watch my favorites like you Arlynn..but I like putting things out that are important to me and MaryAnn. Forget about all the other crap. Oh and yes... when I watch old videos I cringe too.

Absolutely vote for color. I have a small home and you can make it look good. Years ago when Home Interiors was popular, I stopped buying it. I said everyone’s home looks alike. I do what I want to do. It’s fine to use some trendy pieces, but when everyone decorates alike, it’s boring. I absolutely mix styles and love it. I decorate seasonally and I’ve received many compliments on my decor. I don’t want my house to look like everyone else’s home.

I was farmhouse for a while. I am done with grey, white and black. Back to vintage, French flair, warm colors and things that I love for me.

Hi Liz! Lately I have noticed I wasn’t happy with the decor store “look.” My items are craftsman, think Frank Lloyd Wright. It took me years to curate(hate) that word my pieces. After Christmas, no more! Things I love are coming back out. Took everything out of storage and I couldn’t be happier. It’s time we all do what WE love. So go for color or whatever makes you happy. We all have enough stress, our homes should be our havens🏡
I love color and I do not watch videos that only do neutrals and I don't follow trends because I like for my home to be unique and truly me. I love your older videos where you did farmhouse, roosters, blooming lamps and all the unique items you decorate with on your walls and have ordered many things from Amazon from your links back in those days. It does seem that many decorators are going neutral. That can be very beautiful,... but I like pops of color, as well. It's more representative of the world around us. **I am always enthralled with what you put together, dear Liz. People can change, and experience different phases. How they express themselves will reflect that. I prefer a mixture of both. In my own home, that's how I decorate.

Love colour . I have neutral base. Ie dark grey sofa and add throws and pillows with the seasons yellow , turquoise for summer pink & green for spring reds oranges golds for fall and reds whites & golds for winter! Add pink for valentines and Easter. Mix it up with plaids Love your collection lour but mostly your back for putting all together ❤

I love color, however, when it comes to my home, I do neutral. I go to a complimentary color for the pillows and or something to reflect the seasons or holidays. But I would love to see color as well and have incorporated it into my home with plants, pots, or some decor.

I am with you…I have a design background and am stuck too. Color…maybe a seasonal splash…muddy colors…wallpapers for texture, fresh flowers.. maybe make a neutral decor, a positive, but show how to tweak it for the different seasons with a splash of color.

I’ll be honest I’ve never re-created anyone’s decor that I follow. I just watch because it’s interesting. I’m a very neutral person and always will be with my decorating and home. That’s just me. But I do enjoy seeing what other people do. My neutral home looks like my neutral home. Not everybody else’s home. I do like seeing what they have however. Thank you for sharing yours.😊

I like a mix,my house was very neutral & I thought it was very boring so I painted two cabinets a blue color & I love it
