20 years later this song still runs through my head all the time!
Whats up with that video of yours? lol
So true ! Brings me back to my teenage years 😊
Same.
@@DesertStateInEU huh?
@@BrittanyStar I had to check again to remember why I posted that. So I'll ask again, whats up with those 6 videos of yours?
Ginger Snaps was one of my favorite films growing up. This song takes me back to a much simpler time in my life when me and my sister used to watch it on a tiny portable DVD player. We always played the credits so we could listen to this wonderful song.
Just watched it & was playing credit song over & over again.😅
Amazing movie
I love all 3 movies and I often revisit them when I can
Ah the ginger Canadian werewolf
First day on vacation in LA I went to the Whiskey to watch Joydrop. Stood next to Gwen Stefani who also came to the show and I tried to play it cool...like this happens every day to me. An experience i never had in my hometown of Maryland. After that trip I packed as much as I could in my little Honda Civic and drove cross country with no job, no place to live, no plan. That was 1999 and I never looked back. This song has a lot of meaning for me.
Cool!
Love your story!
Very neat, thank you for sharing ❤ I was born in 99, so this feels especially cool to read
What are you doing now?
@@James-tj9zk event management in Vegas. :)
Rest in Peace Lorraine Wrable. This was your song. My mom cried so hard when you passed. Now she is rockin the heavens with you.
Quem é Lorraine Wrable?
I haven't heard this song in forever and I woke up thinking about it today for some reason. It brings back so many memories from 1999. Someone at my school was passing out mix CDs and I got 1, this song was on it, I fell in love with it and listened to it over and over. Love the vocals, the guitars, the bitter lyrics. Everything about this song is awesome.
CurvyAries Same. School van trip to Eugene Oregon 1999
1999 was such an amazing year for music. Lot of 1 hit wonders but really awesome stuff. Nostalgia ;-)
I had a similar experience this morning. Weird. I hadn't thought about this song in years.
Agree love her beautiful singing voice and relatable lyrics
I heard it in '99 on the radio while driving. i think that station only played it once.
I always loved this song🥹❤️🙏❤️
To this day I’m still angry and mystified that this brilliant band never made it. First discovered Joydrop on MuchMusic as a teenager 20 years ago and never forgot that wonderfully striking singer and beautiful, haunting voice.
You’re about to make me cry. I miss much music. Back in the day it was so good and there are so many songs I can’t partially remember in my head but will probably never find again.
They were too ahead of their time.
Joydrop had a poor marketing guy at their helm.
They needed a guy like Fred Durst on board, who was a key asset for the band Staind and helped them become quite popular.
I hear that. Blessed to have this
This band was sincere, unique, and aggressively themselves. Can't imagine how that didn't market...
They were passing out cassette singles of this song after a Black Crowes concert in 1997. I cant believe they didn't make it huge.... I love them!!
This song was in the movie my first mister! God I’d give a whole arm to be able to go back to that innocent and excited part of my life.
Ginger snaps 2 brought me here!!
I just like joydrop.
Edit: the singer also played in blind spot too.
Lol yeah me too
Me too 😂😂😂🖖👍Absolutly nice Track
No wonder this is oddly nostalgic
GINGER SNAPS?
Well HOW was "THAT?
Curious...
😂 ❤
The 90s had so many great female fronted bands. These guys, Skunk Anansie, Hole, L7, Hepburn, Elastica, I could go on. All great performers and songwriters.
Garbage was by far the best!
Thanks for writing those band names. I've been looking for recommendations of late 1990s and early 2000s female rock artists
@ReubenBroery If early 2000s, check out The Distillers too if punk is your thing. Great band. Especially their last album 'Coral Fang'.
@@blacksunshine7485 Thanks. I know The Distillers but I haven't listened to them much.
I mostly listen to punk-pop rock like Avril Lavigne, Skye Sweetnam, Fefe Dobson and Paramore. For bands, I enjoy Halo Friendlies and Lillix.
Now I'm looking for female pop punk and pop rock artists from the late 1990s. Could you recommend me some?
@ReubenBroery Yeah definitely listen to The Distillers. Other female fronted bands i listened to from the 90s were Sleeper, Republica, Echobelly and Kenickie but they're Britpop really. That was the era I started listening to music. Some rock or alternative female fronted bands were No Doubt, Bikini Kill, Varuca Salt, The Donnas, Jack Off Jill, Lunachicks, Bif Naked. There are metal bands, Kittie, Nightwish, Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil.. If you're a Paramore fan I'd definitely recommend Tsunami Bomb. Their album 'The Ultimate Escape' is a great album and I'm sure they heavily influenced Paramore vocally and musically because you can hear the clear similarities and influence alot in early Paramore. Listen to 'Say It If You Mean It' and 'The Simple Truth' by Tsunami Bomb to hear that influence they had. Also Stand Atlantic are a pretty good pop punk/rock band but they are more recent. They're really fun and Paramore-ish. Listen to their track 'Hate Me (Sometimes)'.
Ginger snaps 2 ❤❤❤❤
Ginger snaps
Me too I love all 3 movies.
On a day I was feeling really down & ugly, my boyfriend (1975-2011) dedicated it to me. Absolutely powerful & mindset changing.
I will never get tired of listening to this song.
This song empowered me when I was younger. It still strikes a chord with me. I think it is amazing.
Joydrop may be one of the most underrated bands ever.
They must have had a bad marketing director.
If Joydrop had Fred Durst as their key marketing guy, the band would have soared in popularity. Durst was also lead singer for popular band Limp Bizkit.
The band Staind did wonders under Durst's guidance. When up and coming band Taproot left Durst, that band's popularity plunged.
I first heard this song on MTV's 120 Minutes and was hooked since, and that was in 1999.
2017, I got a tattoo with the quote "I'm not beautiful like you, I'm beautiful like me." Now I understand everything.
Are you saying you got that tattoo before ever hearing or reading about this song?
This song got me through some rough times as a teenager
Damn, this song is freakin' amazing, it's beautiful!!
I had totally forgotten this song until I saw something that said the words "beautiful like me", and the name of this tune immediately kicked in. Haven't heard this in ages, even though I liked it when it came out.
My Uber rider recommended this group after I was rocking out to the Sneaker Pimps. That’s one perk of this gig- I’ve been introduced to dozens of artists I’ve never heard. This is fu*kin’ sweet. ✊🏼
I made a list of things superficial for my youngen to listen to. Yes, i know what im doing. Completely meant to do it on purpose... Poor kids going through her awkward yrs
Fucking insane how the world works I’m in an Uber right now 😂
Listening to this in the Uber !

Ginger Snaps Unleashed brought me here! 🤘🖤
This is so 90's it's almost like it emerged from the dimension of the eternal 90's.
"The window to Your SOUL revealed Beauty!"! !

If I was beautiful like you
oh! the things I would do... 🌠
I’ll never forget seeing this band play in Pittsburgh 20 years ago. They signed my CD case and I rubbed the drummers head, lol. It was a memorable night, one I can never forget. Voodoo babies opened for them and I remember smoking a joint in the van after the show with the band. Good times.
The drummer is my uncle !! (Moms brother) haha He still makes music under the name Leh-Lo. He wrote a lot of their songs and this song is one that he wrote. It’s our families favorite song by them
1999 The Best years! Radio Doble 9 99.1 fm
Glad so many other folks remember this song from their lives in the late 90s too!!
I swear, in real life, no one seems to remember this song despite the fact that it was all over my local top 40 station.
This song kicks ass
Ah my 90s
Seen JoyDrop at InFest in New Orleans when they were new on the scene. They blew me away with this song.

Heard this song 1999 and heard it again in Ginger Snaps 2 unleashed such a rare 90s gem ,
Just finished Ginger Snaps 2. I had to check the music video. Great song! Now, I go to see the last one of the trilogy!
Wow, what an amazing song. Full of textures and dynamic ! Great voice, great drumming and everything, really love this.
"Towering above My ignorance this message reveals Hope to My Heart."
- St. HMAJW."
Awesome song
still perfect
I listen to this when I feel ugly compared to other girls. She’s not saying their not beautiful still but she’s also acknowledged that’s she herself is beautiful and I need to do that more. A+ song and it’s super relatable
She is saying that there are different kinds of Beautiful. Just like you, we are Beautiful in our own ways.
I do the same as a guy. I'm small. Not tall dark and handsome.
@@THETalesFromTheAbyss I'm short and kind of cute. Being little is an asset now during these Covid pandemic days. Covid loves big, fat people.
I used to think big, built guys that were only average looking facially had the advantage with women just because of their bodies.
Now many of those big guys, especially those guys that have let themselves get fat and out of shape, are very prone to getting Covid and may no longer be able to spend time with women.

'My First Mister' is one of my top 10 most fav movies. Love this song and video so much!
This song just popped into my head and had to listen to it... Now I must rummage through my cds and find the cd, so I can rock out in the car.
I lost my CD. Over 20 years ago. I remember this song and Dogstar Radio. They were ahead of their time. If they came out as a new group today - I think all of the Billie Eilish fans would give them a listen.
Damn straight love ginger snaps
🤘🏽🖤🖤🔥🔥😻😻🔥🔥🖤🖤🤘🏽I love this song and video
"EVERY StereoType is a STANDARD of Hollywood ACCEPTANCE!!!!"

Discovered this band live 20+ years ago when they opened for Jimmies Chicken Shack here at a club in Wash DC. Still a great album
Great song !!! I miss 1999/2000
I love this song from Joydrop since the 90's🥹❤️🙏🇵🇭
My first concert was the Rochester Edge Fest with both Joydrop and Citizen King. They were out in the crowds before their sets selling CDs and giving autographs. I got every members autograph on my CD insert and they were all super friendly and chatting with folks. I even got to skateboard briefly with the lead singer of Citizen King after the show. I've been to countless concerts since and to this day none have been able to measure up to that experience.
💕
i remember i used to always get artificial joy club and joydrop mixed up in my head lol ..both great bands and great songs
Never heard of this band in my life. And after hearing this song, I understand why.
Never heard about you in my life...and after reading your comment,i understand why😂
Ginger Snaps II
Special thanks to Ginger Snaps 2 for this gem. What a rocker.
Ginger snaps anyone?
I love this song! They played at a club in Newport News Va in late 90's and my bestie went to manager and told them that, they all came over, met them and they signed copy of CD for me.
Its dark but that was the 90s. Great radio song. Got the CD. Its memorable and Tara is fantastic
This will always be my jam!
Ginger snaps 2
Спасибо фильму "Оборотень" 2000 года что познакомил меня с такой замечательной группой Joydrop!
Thanks to the movie "Ginger Snaps" 2000 for introducing me to such a wonderful band Joydrop!
Имбирь уходит в шестнадцать или мертва на сцене, но вместе навсегда
Anyone remember hearing this in the movie 'My First Mister'?
Saw them at Summersault 98 at the racetrack in Shediac - well, "saw" is a strong word, Tony, the drummer, was the only one I had a clear view of. Pretty sure I was the only kid in my high school who wore a Joydrop t-shirt.
Tony is my uncle!! My moms brother! I was reading these comments to see if there was anything about him hahah
I simply love the lyrics of this song !.
GREAT band! Where’d they go :( ?!
Here from “Attraction”! Amazing song
I saw them in concert in the late 90's maybe 2000. This love this song
Shannon Harper sadly they didn’t get much air play. A very underrated band
ginger snaps 2 ♡♡
tara sloane is every 90s guys crush😍
I saw Joydrop at the Hatchshell in Boston at least 25+ years ago, and got this demo TAPE......YES I SAID CASSETTE TAPE!!!!! Lil, man the Years can Flay by!!!!
Who’s here from Ginger Snaps
Me
Lol yeah when Ginger Snaps 2 came out, was the first time I heard it, was like finding religion for the first time. Been a fan of Joydrop ever since.
One of my favorite movies but I heard this song and saw the video before Ginger Snaps came out
@@DarkAngel1985Mike wow that’s kinda cool tho i fell for this song when I watch ginger snaps back in (2007)
Me I love this movie
The Ginger Snaps trilogy broke me
I fucking love this!!!!
Ginger Snaps 2, maafaka!
1997: After a show at The Intersection in Grand Rapids MI I managed to hang out with Tara and the band outside behind the bar ...and then they all autographed my shirt.
If that wasn't weird enough their next stop was my home town.
this will never not be on my playlist because of all the reasons
Wtf she is beautiful
Listened to them back in the day, no tween movie required.
A lot of mothers caged their daughters when their daughters were most beautiful and powerful. The chain of abuse from mother to daughter began before we were human and still makes us inhuman to this day.
I feel it now. It was a nice song then. I'm not beautiful like you, I'm beautiful like me.
ну всегда будь любимой и в душе любовь радость капля всегда и навсегда 💕
красивая.. как я, как я, и я иногда хочу умереть 💕
I love this song
Its the Anthem
My best friend & soul mate who died in 2011 sent this song to me one day. I was downing myself pretty badly & he countered with this song. I still can't get enough of it.
👍 Thanks for uploading
hermosa cancion
wtf is this crap with 10 thousand views??? it's an amazing song!!!
People just don't appreciate good music nowadays
If Fred Durst was Joydrop's marketing director, this band would have millions of views.
Durst was a big reason why Staind soared in popularity in the late '90's and 2000's.
Taproot left Durst and lost its popularity shortly afterwards.
This song is definitely on the soundtrack of my life
If I was Beautiful like you I will never be in a fault but that will never be .... Because I am not beautiful like you, I am Beautiful like me
Saw them in concert as a teen and got an autographed poster. Sactown year 2000
Nice video
Really sad this band never caught on and surprised. This song is a bop
I love how angsty this track is
Special Unit 2 brought me here!
Yes!! Such a fantastic show.
