Have you not seen Qādi Iyad's explanation of this hadith? Changing with the hands refers to the 'ulama. And the 'ulama have said that boycotting is a personal choice and is not allowed to be imposed on others by mere individuals.

Its not from sunnah or deen to oblige anyone to boycott. You need to stop
its sunnah to harm the enemy of islam and muslims and by boycotting you are harming the enemy of muslims
Who is obliging anyone? Simply telling people to boycott is not obliging them to do so, however there are some saying that you shouldn't even do that (i.e. telling people to boycott unless the ruler tells you, that you can)
It is a fardh to boycott. All Muslims must boycott. You are not a real Muslim if you do not implement this. Infact, your belief should be questioned. You are more closer to being a munafique

It's not just some people. Some of the Great scholars hold that opinion. And some hold the opinion you should boycott.
The problem is there are people forcing their opinion on others even tho there is a difference of opinion amongst prominent scholars.
