Limbic Bits is superb. The support is outstanding. I bought the megafm presets and apart of the great preset quality I totally love the dedication that went into responsiveness support wise and helping out a dumb customer like me.
Beautiful! I just found a Novation Bass Station 2. I need a better Reverb. This seems to be the happy medium, between the basic reverb, and the really expensive reverbs. Thanks!
Finally, a reverb processor that actually sounds amazing to me when I hear it with a synthesizer. Wondering if it would be versatile though as a main reverb
Deciding between this and the Empress Reverb. I do have the software version of this and it's good. I would actually like to find Valhalla Supermassive/Shimmer in a box somehow
You probably made your mind up long ago, but I have both and only ever use the Empress. Blackhole is pretty damn good for what it does, but I found the Empress offered a lot more, and didn't impart itself as much on the sound. Blackhole isn't meant to be a 'realistic' reverb I suppose, so that synthetic quality is part of its character but I just began to tire of it. A few of the algorithms on the Empress can get weird too, but the more standard reverbs really allow your synth to breathe.
I have a question,,, i have a KORG Wavestate... I want to get this pedal and the Aeros looper... I want to come out of my synth L and R into the Blackhole... It looks like you have yours like that... My question is, do you have TS cable L and R coming out of the synth to TRS cable into mono on Blackhole? I get confused about the cables... Thank you...
Love your videos and your thoughtful fan service, answering everyone's questions repeatedly and thoroughly. As a noob looking for a first synth, I've been considering the MDX, Cobalt8, and now I'm forced to consider the Novation Peak because of you... So my question: Do I NEED an effects pedal to enjoy my synth? It's not something I had considered. I've been learning DAWs and am thinking I might want to play with synths before getting in deeper with track creation. I just want to jam with a scotch and headphones. The MDX seemed a bit light in the bass but does sound deeper here, the Cobalt too but it's stereo width was delightful to my ear, and the workflows seem beginner friendly. The Peak seems (?) like it can do all of this on its own, tho it seems more complicated to me at face value. Everyone wants it all, but I think I won't be happy without sufficient polyphony and huge low end. Think interstellar, inception. That's my dream and I'm worried anything less won't motivate me to pursue whatever I pick. Thanks in advance if you see this!
Hi Jono, from what you've described, Novation Peak would perfectly fit your needs. It has a huge low end, 8 voices polyphony and great flexibility. Plus, it's not too hard to learn, even if you haven't had much experience before. Also, its internal effects are awesome, so there's no need for additional effects. Minilogue XD (i assume, you're referring to this one when saying MDX) also has great effects, but in my opinion can be a bit limiting sometimes, even with it's flexible user oscillators. I don't have too many separate effects unit, either, as I'm doing most of the effect processing in my DAW or with the synth's internal effects when making music. External effects are great when you want to give your synth a new sonic flavour or if you want to work DAW-less. Best
@@limbicbits thanks! I guess back to the research for me in Novation. The journey to the journey is its own reward. PS you should publish this top five I've seen so often in the comments.
Thanks - maybe I’ll do that. I sometimes wonder why these top lists are so successful especially as it would be just another opinion and after all everyone should decide for himself. On the other hand it can be a good start for a funny discussion

As main reverb, I recommend empress reverb which has a pristine audio quality and offers great flexibility
Source audio is my favorite verb for synth in pedal format. Next is the empress reverb. Plate and hall in a mix are insane.

On the rear of the blackhole, there is a stereo TRS-input. You can select mono or stereo mode via switch
@@limbicbits Correct but what cable do I need? Duel TS mono into single TRS stereo?

If i have a track in Ableton with midi chords written, can I route that to the MIDI-in on the Korg and have the Korg play the midi notes?
