Wahoo, it’s finally happened. And well worth it, too, because although brief there’s a lot packed in here about these fascinating creatures with interesting behaviours but also so emblematic, especially for NZ, of why these species need protecting.
The worm has turned, and the Subarctic Little Shearwater at last is treated like the NZBotW winner this doughty little bird truly is! I admire its tapered form, so economical with no waste for fussy plumage or extra length--it's built for business, and it's apparent that the Shearwater gets down to brass tacks like a pro. And what a glorious life they lead, luxuriating in their ground nests with no fear of predators. I'm so happy to finally make the acquaintance with this sweet-faced little powerhouse. THANKS!
It's always amazing to me to think of the vast amount of time it has taken for species like this to evolve to survive with their particular specialisations.
The humble subantarctic little shearwater finally gets its day. Great video, and hopefully this bird's remote breeding grounds remain safe from threats so they don't find themselves in the position of so many other New Zealand birds which are barely hanging on.
Hey Henry The PaleoGuy, why don’t you get to make a suggestion creating a RUclips Videos that’s all about the Extinct Prehistoric Extinct Mammal Species of New Zealand called the Saint Bathans Mammal coming up next?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
