I wrote nine pages of a script breaking down all the details and spooling theories, but when it came to answering all the big questions and tying everything up neatly, I was unable to find an explanation beyond 'it was all a dream', 'everyone is dead and this is purgatory', etc. That didn't require huge leaps of logic, or ignoring the themes of the film. I've also been overworked for long enough that trying to make the analysis stopped me from making the videos I do for fun, where I shit around with my friends and the occasional essay. Since I feel an explanation video that ended in something like that would be... stupid and unsatisfying, I decided not to upload something like that. I made a community post talking about it a bit ago, and if you're curious about what I wrote, I uploaded the script document to my Patreon, (which is all free and public.)

I simply loved the fact that there were ZERO jumpscares... and yet it was still terrifying. Granted, I'm a huge wuss when it comes to horror stuff, yet Emesis Blue managed to have a story that intrigued me enough to keep watching, while also still terrifying me. In conclusion: It was awesome and messed up my sleep the following night, but was 100% worth it.
I am not exaggerating when I say that this is peak SFM, and nothing will top it; it’s all downhill from here. Everyone involved in EB’s production don’t just deserve to get hired professionally; they deserve to be the ones that call the shots. This doesn’t just deserve to get an award; this is on par with Academy levels, like the Oscars or Emmys, and the guys behind Emesis Blue VERY CLEARLY deserve one.
I actually watched the movie the day it released, I barely watch SFM content, only general TF2 videos and such but the thumbnail and that lenght convinced to go through it and, it was absolutely worth it. This was one of the best pieces of media I've ever seen and I'm really happy I watched with no idea of it, no previous knowledge and without anyone telling me to watch it. I love this community and this game so much and seeing what people can do with the game that has been a reference for shitpost animations for so long feels my little heart with joy. I TRULY hope it blows up in popularity.
I've seen the film a few times, and my god, as an artist, there's just so many memorable shots and moments, and even little unique details that you wouldn't think of. Like, I vividly remember the beginning of the film for its cinematography and the very artistic lighting, like it was done on purpose, and no shot was done for functionality; they all had a purpose and expressed its intent clearly. Apart from the first scene with Medic where he hallucinated what I presume to be the Grim Reaper(?), so many of the lines were memorable too, and I am now 100% on board with whoever voiced Medic in this as the voice of Medic. And god DAMN, THAT SCENE WHERE SPY'S MASK WAS JUST RIPPED OFF OF HIS FACE. The fact that the lights flickered when they had to switch the models SO YOU WOULDN'T NOTICE IT, GOD DAMN This film is jus amazing that I'm really shocked that an SFM like this could exist
Finally someone talks about emesis blue, I love the horror that this movie displays in each scene, from the resurrected heavy, to the contorted scout abomination and the redrawn machine causing the entirety of this film's monstrocities and horror (I have another word to describe everything else that happens in this movie but I can't find it). I really love the conagher brothers scene, no monsters, just two mentally sick men that torture people for kicks, and scouts screams mixed with the drill is just haunting.
I have watched many SFMs and despite probably missing some major ones, I think it's safe to say that no SFM can rival the production quality and emotive power this film displays. The best thing about it is the fact that there are no jump scares. Pure psychological masterpiece
Well said! Passion has been missing from the entertainment industry, tampered to adhere to corporate interest. I didn't think I could find that in a film again until I saw Emesis Blue.
After 10 years of watching SFM videos. This instantly became my TOP 5 Scene i just really love is the Bar scene. Engineer/Dell Connoger being my fav. Having this calm conversation in this dreadful place was just "Fascinating"
What's crazy is the rewatchability. I first watched it on premier day, then again the next, and once again the next, and finally once more yesterday. And to be honest, it never feels the same. Like i said everywhere, this is a must watch, if not for the story, then for the animation. I'm surprised it hasn't hit 1mil views yet.
god damn, your recommendations in both games and movies are just so fucking good chesh. If not for you Id never have even known about this movie or, say, YOMI hustle. Keep it up
I just got finished watching it and oh my god. It was so fucked up but it was so good at the same time. It’s amazing to think that there are people out there with this much talent and people that can actually think about this type of stuff
Well 1 minute of your video convinced me to watch the entire movie...onestly, thank you for that, it was truly awesome, something that I would like to see on TV with friends that love tf2
That's the goal! I see a lot of very lengthy review videos, and it always bugs me. I feel like recommending games/shows/movies should be as brief as possible, because if you wanted to watch something long and drawn out... you'd watch TV or something. I have a whole playlist of reviews that I make as short as possible so you can know if you want to watch something or not in five minutes or less :)
Emesis Blue was one of the only movies that got me scared, I watched a lot of movies..Especially from the 70s to 90s (my favourite movie era) but Alien, The Shining, etc. They didn't creep me out as much as Emesis Blue, I have no idea why but there's something about seeing these shitpost characters from a funny videogame being what they are in Emesis just broke my conception of the TF2 characters. And I was not expecting that.
Honestly, with how good that SFM Movie was, I can't help but remember a quote from Russian Badger; "Dayum, that's some gud graphics, what Engine is that?" "Dude, that's fucking Source from 2007." Even I can't believe that something that old can still make masterpieces like that Movie.
The movie was just amazing, I have not watched SFM videos in years, today I watched Emesis Blue, and ny god It was amazing, confusing but amazing work of art!
I was completely hooked from the beginning to the very end. Good god did this movie do something incredible! And the emotions it garnered from the quirky comedic bits to the down right bone chilling horror of the scenes as well as the overall story. An amazing ending that I dare not spoil because it is worth seeing for yourself. GOD I LOVED THIS!!!!!
people made jokes like "these shitposts are so good they made an entire movie for it" for media, and now its true. they made a HORROR FILM using the shitpostiest characters in the history of anything, in the shitpostiest map of tf2, and it made me terrified. i was hooked and immersed, so much so that the rock i stood on as cloak and dagger spy trolling engineers was no longer in my mind. the characters' goofiness was toned down to just the right degree (most of them to zero, except soldier for example), just like tf2 lore. the animation AND writing were top notch which is difficult as hell. anywho i came to your channel after i saw your theories on reddit, im waiting for your fully developed theories! and also thank you for crediting the sfms shown bc as a new fan i missed out on the most vibrant tf2 sfm era so its nice to catch up!
I already ended up watching it and HOLY SHIT was it not only confusing but also intriguing too, but it all explains it with the characters all being not right in the head and going through some psychological issues that makes them see things, feel things, and might even hear things.
I watched it on a night after the premiere, at like 2-3 AM, alone, with lights out, and the M sequence (all the tapes in Medic's office are indeed those of real old movies, and dammit, I've seen M before, what are they implying with this, I must know-) made me feel that I was about to go down a road towards something truly special. Four years of near silence after Spy's Disguise, and then FF floors us with this. P.S. Please someone tell me I'm not alone at going "wait, is this a Christian Brutal Sniper callback" at a certain point of the movie.
I loved Emesis Blue Even Tho i Hate most of the Terror/Horror type movies and games mostly because they just put a acreamer and get me scream just by that now that story aside, emesis blue Got me like a Kid even been a non-horror movie Fan Even dont know most of the references to old horror movies They Got me because theres a story very well telled with a bunch of love and a Deep lore and the way its presented deer lord Wass magnific

I watched it, it really inspired me to become an SFM animator!
I'm 3 minutes in and hooked. promised my friend we'd watch it together.... god it's hard to resist.
Emesis Blue is just phenomenal
you better make that theory video cuz i wanna see what others think. best psychological horror film i’ve ever seen
Ive seen this movie 5 times already
Thats jow much i like it
god damn, your recommendations in both games and movies are just so fucking good chesh. If not for you Id never have even known about this movie or, say, YOMI hustle. Keep it up
I just got finished watching it and oh my god. It was so fucked up but it was so good at the same time. It’s amazing to think that there are people out there with this much talent and people that can actually think about this type of stuff
Despite the fact that Saxxies are discontinued, Emesis Blue definitely deserves one.
“Holy shit this is so fucking cool” -Mc_Chesire probably
How did you know?!
It is so well done that it puts other horror movies to shame
It was so amazing yet so cool yet so so very terrifying
this is a piece of cinematic history
Emesis Blue was one of the only movies that got me scared, I watched a lot of movies..Especially from the 70s to 90s (my favourite movie era) but Alien, The Shining, etc. They didn't creep me out as much as Emesis Blue, I have no idea why but there's something about seeing these shitpost characters from a funny videogame being what they are in Emesis just broke my conception of the TF2 characters. And I was not expecting that.
Honestly, with how good that SFM Movie was, I can't help but remember a quote from Russian Badger;
"Dayum, that's some gud graphics, what Engine is that?"
"Dude, that's fucking Source from 2007."
Even I can't believe that something that old can still make masterpieces like that Movie.
I wholeheartedly agree that Emesis blue should get a Theatre release
The movie was just amazing, I have not watched SFM videos in years, today I watched Emesis Blue, and ny god It was amazing, confusing but amazing work of art!
I saw this video after watching the movie, you did a good job with this video alls imma say. Makes me wanna watch it again!
Truly the SFM film of all time
I already ended up watching it and HOLY SHIT was it not only confusing but also intriguing too, but it all explains it with the characters all being not right in the head and going through some psychological issues that makes them see things, feel things, and might even hear things.
i'm glad i found this video fr
I absolutely love this movie even if some moments feel a bit forced to move the plot, an almost 2 hour movie is INSANE, prop to the people who made it
Thank you, I would had never seen the movie if it weren´t for you
That's why I do it bro, just happy to spread cool shit around
I watched the movie before this. And i swear to god. Fortress films made a masterpiece.
"who touched my pepsi" is way better
1 award would be insulting, they should give more to them.... but is valve we are talkin about
I watched it on a night after the premiere, at like 2-3 AM, alone, with lights out, and the M sequence (all the tapes in Medic's office are indeed those of real old movies, and dammit, I've seen M before, what are they implying with this, I must know-) made me feel that I was about to go down a road towards something truly special.
Four years of near silence after Spy's Disguise, and then FF floors us with this.
P.S. Please someone tell me I'm not alone at going "wait, is this a Christian Brutal Sniper callback" at a certain point of the movie.
Yeah everything you said is spot on. Perfect video! Subbed! Everything you say is valid.
Emesis Blue just hit 1 million views
its really good i was amazed at how much woek went into it
I loved Emesis Blue Even Tho i Hate most of the Terror/Horror type movies and games mostly because they just put a acreamer and get me scream just by that now that story aside, emesis blue Got me like a Kid even been a non-horror movie Fan Even dont know most of the references to old horror movies They Got me because theres a story very well telled with a bunch of love and a Deep lore and the way its presented deer lord Wass magnific
Saw this movie on a car ride. It was pretty good id say.
