I went down Rawdon in 1985 aged 15 years. Might have worked there but it was only to last another 4 years. I went drilling and grouting up old mine working instead. Now working in South Africa. Brought back some memories 👍🏻
Great video thanks, I was was working in the drift heading Rh22 with Roy greenfield and Herbert fletcher. Left in 1986, my Dad worked as drift bunker driver, Mervyn, Happy memories of my dad and I together.
Maybe poor consolation but I think the pit railways should of been kept, as it seems virtually all colliery railways have been ripped up, also some of the pit top buildings were good, old brickwork and being next to railway sidings could of made a case for an industrial unit of some sort. Lack of vision?
