The thing I love about the levels is that they're still linear in nature,but much more fun,challenging,immersive and less automated They make you feel like you're always part of the scene,and it's a damn shame this isn't how the actual game plays

linear levels arent always bad, unleashed had linear levels in most cases but they were filled with short reaction time objstacles to make the player concentrate, and it didnt have a lot of platforming either(except for the werehog stages) they added more platforming to the boost gameplay in generations and especially colors

Wow, INCREDIBLE work from the modders! Super excited to play through Forces again when it's eventually completed. It's really sad that time and time again fans have to create something to take games with obvious potential to actually be fun.
A little nitpick, but some of the newer areas still have that “fan made” feel to them. And I think it’s because the set pieces are guilty having plain flat environments, or wide open areas over bottomless pits. It’s especially noticeable in Sunset Heights. They could’ve used some more slopes or hills to keep the set dressing a tad more consistent with the vanilla levels. The actual platforming on the other hand is pretty solid. No complaints there.
Hey there nice to see you again! How have you been? This is a totally fair critism Expanding the areas is a bit of an issue. The game starts to choke a little and crash and all that fun stuff. Modeling is also kinda hard. It's hard to make custom geometry look professionally done when the tools for Forces are still very limited.

@@havenisthebest99 Rise of Lyric is a different beast, there's several videos online that explained what happened with this game. Forces was not in the same situation. Sonic Team spent too much time working on their new engine and all the talents behind Unleashed and Generations left the company.
God. This mod did Aqua Road justice. It's one of my favorite stages from Forces because of the song alone. I personally love the Forces soundtrack. Makes me feel nostalgic from the days I played it in high school.

I've always thought people trying to "improve" Forces was like trying to lift a lazy horse off the ground with one hand, but this is actually darn good! That Shadow section at Sunset Heights is impressive!
Like most of time, modders do what SEGA didn't. For real, the stages looks like they always should have been with main path and from it, you have take different pathways. Honestly, it worth the detour for a casual Forces playhrought with this mod. And if Cyberspace levels turn out like this, then it we will have something pretty nice to enjoy. It doesn"t feel that automatic and it's great that way, being a part of scenery. Combine with Harder Bosses mod and Forces is now an improved title to play. What modders did like here is extracting as much as possible all the potential they can get. While going throughout Sunset Heights, you can hear citizens screaming all around. Nice little details we now have here. #SonicForcesRevampedEdition
This mod feels like forces improved, but still has the same problem as forces. Guardian rock still has the boring double boost section, but at least is a bit more cinematic with the chase. Rail grinding and boost rings and springs and boostpads make the game incredibly automated. The chemical plant pipe sections should have been like generations where u can run on them without it being automated.

With the reimagined Sunset Heights, I don’t know how fun it’d actually be but that sense of scale and openness in the environment is really what this game needed, among other things obviously. But it looks super good
We won't need a re-imagining of this game anymore once the new one releases next month, but this is still a great mod. Shows the game's levels could've been better it had more level designers that were experienced with Sonic games.
I'm the all rounder type with a preference for most games from 2003 and beyond, and even I can't see where Frontiers has to offer than a possibly more serious story and neutered gameplay for wide open maps.
It's not a matter of number, but of talent. 2 of the 3 level designers for Forces were newbies that NEVER worked on Sonic. And visibly they were just there to get the money and do the bare minimum.

Sunset Heights 1. The smol cutscene with Sonic and (IMPOSTER) Shadow 2. the multiple Egg Bomber chase sections 3. the camera angles focusing on the Death Egg Robots showing their destruction 4. you can hear some civillians shouting for help or announcing evacuation protocols Most of the level seems automated (a good 60% I can estimate) but a large part of the level shows how much Eggman's invasion has affected normal civilians.

It's been a long time since I've player Sonic Forces so I don't remember exactly what was changed, but I can see there's a a mini boss rushing sonic on the doubole booster scene, which I remember it wasn't there.

I don't remember some of the lines said in levels, are they adding new lines? and if so are they getting the original VAs to voice custom lines, or just very good impressionists?
The expanded portion of Sunset Heights blows my mind, it's so disappointing how in the original level it just ends all of a sudden and he's literally standing off to the side

@@vasse5769 the difference is that Forces and Colors are exclusively boost-style stages. They should be longer because otherwise a casual playthrough takes like 3 hours for each of them. Frontiers has a ton of content in it already, so shorter cyberspace levels aren't the end of the world. Would I like longer levels? Of course, but its not intended to be the main substance of the game so its not the biggest deal in the world.
This is such a cool mod, honestly if this was what sonic forces was actually like I'd probably think it was an ok game. Its just sad tho when you compare the real versions of these levels against the mod versions, the real versions just have nothing to them, they barely even count as levels

God, the environmental sound design of this mod (NPC voices within Sunset Heights) makes me wish this was the game we got on release just on it's own.

in retrospect the levels seem a whole lot less fanmade than Update 3's cyberspace levels in frontiers..

Best part of this mod is that due to the extended levels, you can actually hear the songs in their fullest.
It’s weird we live in a world where this game at launch was better then Sonic Colors Ultimate in every way imaginable, and even better with mods.
