Part 1 Avery: "Pigs are smarter than dogs so you shouldn't eat them."
Mandy: "Hey Avery remember that time you said pigs were more important than people, what's wrong with you?"
Part 2 Avery: "Yeah and I'll say it again. Pigs are more important than people"
It's like he shapeshifted into his own strawman.
lol
The echo on SLAEPING DRINC is absolute gold
"This time King Ethelred will be ready"
Thats
thats an Ethelred the Unready joke.
I think thats the first time this game's HARD given away that it knows its taking the piss.
id say it was obvious halfway into the first video that this game is a genius piece of lovingly crafted comedy that ran out of budget and the devs said "fuck it! we go funnier!" incorporating the jank into the bits
@@freakyskull516 Unironcially "that's not a bug it's a feature". If games do this today they won't get pass anyone.
"The Oxford Homeless Poisoner can't be evil because he's a cop" is not a take I was expecting to hear from the mailbag today.
Hahahahaha
Gotta love that To Be Continued transition
Finally.
at 6:30 or so: as someone who studied Middle English to the point of writing a senior thesis on a middle english poem I read in the original text, that isn't a terrible job of portraying it.
I'm not sure how it took me 8 parts to realize I should also have the TMNT Sewer Surfin' Mariachi cover running on loop but here we are.
I sincerely appreciate you putting these together, lessens the need for alcohol by a great deal so there's less productivity loss with it on in the background. Even more happy it's coming from someone that seems to enjoy the content as much as the other viewers and isn't just clipping highlights for profit.
I really agree with the last bit, his editing adds alot and it obiously comes from a place of appriciation for the content.
It's so funny to see people thinking the voice actors aren't native speakers when they have authentic British accents and, aside from pitzagate, pronunciations, unlike the English people in 99% of American games.
The librarian definitely had a German accent
I was thinking the same, I'm English and the accents sound spot on to me.
@@nopenoperson8964 wdym librarian has Welsh accent
@@KoylTrane no, she's definitely German
"pitzah" is bs but I was amazed at their bafflement at "herb". Silent letters exist but why are they so flabbergasted that herb can be pronounced with the "h"?? It's definitely pronounced like that in the UK, "erb" is a US thing as far as I know
I feel like Boop Snoot isn't getting enough credit here.
"Being a police officer makes it impossible for him to be chaotic evil" oh yeah cause no one would ever, ever become law enforcement because it could be personally advantageous
All Cops Are Droods
Smells like a leftist here
Yeah that chat take aged like milk
Some people try to prove that not all cops are bastards by insisting that there are good cops somewhere. Halligan proves not all cops are bastards by being too terrible to be called a mere bastard.
"Being a police officer *and* wishing to aide those in need"
not just 'cop = good'
it's actually 'cop that wants to help people = good'
I love how nearly this entire part of the vod is them trying to brew the sleeping potion lmao

That’s Middle English, or at least an attempt at it. That’s how English was spoken around the 14th-15th century. The reason the spelling seems strange, apart for difference in phonology, is because English at this time was spelled phonetically. Standardized spelling didn’t exist and you’re not going to find things like silent letters. If you see a letter in Middle English, it’s there because it’s supposed to be said out loud (e.g. the word “fame” in Middle English was pronounced “Fah-muh” no silent “e”, instead it’s pronounced with an “uh” sound.). Additionally this is before the Great Vowel Shift which was a series of sound shifts that was essential in the development of modern English.
The English shown here seems to be late Middle English of the 15th century. This would be after Chaucer but before Shakespeare (whose language is considered Early Modern English).
It’s silly because where they are in the past would probably be contemporaneous with old English, not middle, but old English is so far removed from modern English that it can’t be understood by modern English speakers, and has to be studied like a foreign language.
And example of the English that would actually be spoken by the characters in this segment:
Old English:
“Hwæt we gardena in geardagum, þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon”
Translates to modern English:
“Hail, we have heard tell of the glory of the kings of the spear-danes in days of old, how those princes performed many deeds of courage”
That's the opening of Beowulf right?
I've never actually seen Old English written out before, but I've heard it said that it has more in common with modern German than modern English. Always found that interesting, if it's true.
I came for funny druids, I walked away more knowledgeable about Middle English. WTF is this druid black magic?
@@benquinnobi6461it’s very true. Old English is just what the Anglo Saxons began to speak when they first migrated to England, coming from Germany and Denmark. It is very much just a mashup of different German dialects of the time.
8:20 the “uh oh. OH NO” feeling in this entire scene is wild
This was fun to watch, thanks. By the way, herb is pronounced with a H in Ireland, and I presume in England as well.
Im English and i pronounce the h but i've heard it pronounced both ways.
31:11 Dude got roofied by Halligan.
Fucker nicked all my pennies
@ 21:00 IT WAS A WAITING PUZZLE
*weighting
"I always found pictures of wars revolting"
I see what they did there.
halligan measures his weight in lbs???
I know im a year late but thank you for making these!
“Huh the right side” 2 seconds later “ *go forward* ”
This and Pyrocynical drinking E-girl bathwater made my day, and it's not even 9 a.m. yet!
2:23 Aethelred the Unready joke
That was a beautiful ToBeContinued :D
shammy really wouldn't shut up about how he was forgetting that his music wasn't the game audio, huh
shammy wants so bad to be the focus of the vid. he doesnt realize hes a guest on someone elses channel and thinks people are there for him.. gets real annoying
....Does this ride ever end?
1:20 is it just me or does one of those faces look like Craig the Brute
Halligan poisons a homeless dude, and steals his 50 pence.
Halligan steals an 800 franc fishing rod, and vamooses with it, never handing it back.
Halligan calls the Caribbean for no reason.
Halligan frames an old senile man, in the library.
Halligan eats human flesh, and seemingly has no mental scars from the ordeal.
Halligan runs out of a house, condemning an old invalid, to certain death, instead of helping.
Halligan is the villain we never deserved, but got right now.
YES!
That music sounds like fucking Gnomeregan.
20:00 that's because it's a waiting puzzle
You can hear the german accent behind some of Melanie's lines
27:00: So...the devs _do_ know monasteries are specifically Christian, right? Okay, the English name for the Shàolín Sì and similar institutions is "monastery," but the druids didn't have anything like that. Why is an order of druids hanging out at _a Christian religious institution?_
2:25: Um...a historian should be well aware that the medieval period ended some time in the 1400's (depending on who's drawing the line). If this game isn't set in the year 2500, medieval history ended _less_ than a thousand years prior. (While the thousand-year figure is about right for the early medieval period, that's obviously not the full medieval era, as indicated by the name.)
4:00: No, they think the heathens are conspiring _with_ the Danes!
8:20: Eurgh. Why.
14:14: How is "pitza" a phonetic pronunciation of "pizza"?
31:00: Ha ha wooow. Tikes.
Well by the year 1000 paganism had just about been defeated in England. Druids, in _South England_ no less, would probably need to hide by pretending to be a Christian monastery, on a surface level at least. But maybe I am assuming too much from this game.
7:47 Hawk Tuah
Pitza, Gott and now *H* erb
Yeah this is definitely a German game. I bet they just took some people who could speak English and used them as voice actors.
The fact that there is a french version along with the English and German ones with really good voice acting too (for 2001) counters this hypothesis (I think).
Herb with the H pronounced is normal in proper english even if english with mistakes does not pronounce it. Just like it's garage and not guh-rawge
"Pitza" only happens in 2 sentences in Halligans office.
@@GAnimeRO ah yes, my favorite desert illusion, the mirridge
German here. I was very curious so I looked up the voice actors. Besides the Librarian and Halligan's mom (voiced by the same lady), they are all British voice actors. Maybe 'twas a joke.
Maybe Americans should stop using that mongrel tongue of theirs and learn proper English.
shammy backseats too much ngl
