John Densmore. My first influence. His work in "Shaman's Blues", "Touch me“, “L' America“," Wild Child", "The ghost Song" are superb, and the list goes on and on.
Happy Thursday!!! I only this afternoon discovered your channel, and I am looking forward to learning and hopefully getting turned on to drummers I otherwise may never have found
Hello Gary enjoy your posts! It would be nice if you could feature some of Gino Vanelli's drummers ,Mark Craney,Casey Schuerell ,and especially Graeme Lear, wonderful drummers here, keep up the good work and thanks !
Hello again,I forgot to ask in my previous comment: have you done a video on Ronnie Tut? I think he is the second best contemporary drummer( was going to say rock drummer, but he is so much more than that),I have ever heard, trailing only the mighty Neil Peart( rip)....he is faster, more powerful, and has much more sheer talent than Lars( Metallica),Dave( Slayer), and Frankie( Anthrax),and is much more versatile, and well rounded musician...I’d love to read your thoughts,or hear your comments in a video...” See See Rider”, imho,is a prime example of his ability....
Ranks up there with the Keith Moon & Peter Criss solos. Seeing solos like this makes me wonder if Joe Walsh could do a drum solo. Nice, polite reaction on your part, Garey....😎 John Densmore was the only drummer for The Doors, akin to Ringo for The Beatles. Unfortunately, not a drummer's drummer. And they too exist & serve a purpose, I suppose. Right ? 😎
For me, John Densmore is one of the most musical drummers ever.

When the music's over
I had read that Densmore came from a jazz background and listening to songs like Light My Fire did have an almost jazz/swing feel to them.

VERY UNDERRATED PERCUSSIONIST.
I think Jay Postones of Tesseract does some amazing drumming and would be worth of your time.

Have reacted to a Mickey Hart / Bill Kreutzmann drum session of a Grateful Dead show yet?
Nope
