Popping corks shouldn’t be considered googan technology. They’re such a smart design, and they work great for trout and reds. No one should be ashamed of throwing a popping cork
I remember long ago the only options we had were the Almeda plastic floats they were the go to option for trout, the Mansfield mailer fished with a soft plastic, and lastly the Cajun thunder foam float, which I think started all the various options we have available today. With this being said, I never felt these options were for the newbies for me it just adds to your ability to put some fish in the box! I had many days when you to grind it out and the more techniques you know the better.
Love the videos man it makes the work day go by and the fish fever going! Live in Illinois wish I could catch some big reds but just got the new pb walleye gotta love the walleye
Tore up reds in Marty marsh several years ago. Had a devil eye under a Mansfield mauler type popper. They simulate jumping bait in addition to controlling depth. Absolutely love them.
Great video ! Thanks for making these video's and keeping us all entertained in this weird day and age … 2020 is going down in history baby and we are all part of it .
Yeesss...been missing your content bro! Thanks for the awesome video during this quarantine! Cant wait to hit the water myself. SPI still closed for fishing here in South Texas
Hey Cooper another great video.. I'm going to sign up for your Patron. This is Joe the poker dealer. We meet like 3 weeks back at Roy's bait and tackle.
Nice catch Coop. Have you give it a little thought about passing on a few of those trouts and reds to someone who are less fortunate who are struggling during these tough times right now. You could call it "Fresh Catch For the Soul" or maybe cook it up for someone in the neighborhood. Just a thought. Tight lines, God Bless, & stay safe.
Oh man, I know it’s going to be good stuff on this clip with this rig, we using same concept with fly rods in the surf it’s a killer rig👌👌👌 Thank you for the time and sharing.
Hey man, not sure if you’re gonna see this... but we haven’t seen much about your BOTE Rover specifically in a while. I have been contemplating getting one, and would LOVE to hear your opinions of it since you’ve owned yours for quite some time. Hope we can see a video on it soon. Keep up the quality content.
Hey man love your channel. Really lovin the She-dog. So easy to work compared to other walkers and its So loud. Thanks keep them tips coming#tightlines
You need to try that topwater in place of the cork rig like those dudes down in Arroyo! Theres a video somewhere here about it. I think ca Richardson has a vid on it too
THRESHER!! What kind of boat is that that you zip around on?? I’m looking to buy one for fishing here in Georgia/Florida and that looks PERFECT!! Any info would be great full!!! Keep making your videos dude! I’m enjoying them and learning a lot!!
Back in the day (‘80s), anything like that with a cork that slid up and down was called a “mauler” from the original Mansfield Mauler invention. If the cork was pinned to the line, it was a “popping cork.” That went back to at least the ‘50s.
I started using popping corks quite a bit this year in the marshes. Awesome for reds and trout. Do you prefer a specific popping cork? I’ve been using the Phillips tackle woodie corks recently and love them. Awesome video man!
We have been using that color for years. First was black back and then chartreuse back and it all evolved back to the solid nickle. That’s actually the color you are using right now
My sister lives in Corpus next time I visit I'd love to link up and do some fitchin with you, would be fun to see in learn what the other side of the gulf has to offer outside of Tampa waters
I have a quick question I don’t live near the coast but when I go down I’m always using popping cord like your white one and was wondering if the dent on the bottom makes a difference
1:15 Im sure the jetty is kinda deep. So, 2-3 foot line and dead smelly shrimp wont get you much because the fish are probably at the bottom and not middle/top of the water. If the water there is like 10 feet, middle is 5 feet. The line is 2-3 feet, so the fish aren't really close to the bait. Also, the bait needs to be fresh and not dead and stinky. Fresh dead shrimp work, but live shrimp work better. I exclusively fish popping corks cuz they work well. I have caught tarpon, gator trout, and redfish on cut pinfish with 2 foot length of 40# fluoro with a circle hook. If I was going to fish 10 feet, I would use 7 or 8 feet of line with a popping cork. The popping cork lets you put the rod down. If you have some slack line, the fish is taking the cork for a ride and gives you a chance to grab the rod and start reeling. It's an indicator that also gives you the option to have sound. Granted, 8 feet of line under a cork is a bit much and casting would be hard, so just bottom fishing with shrimp, or any other bait, would be best.

Fishing North Florida I live in Louisiana and this is all we use really. Best way to fish down here in muddy Muddy water
Its a big thing in Hawaii but we call it whipping and no shame of what so ever when the bait ain't working start whipping 💯🎣🤙🏼

You really should put the songs you use in the description! Great taste in fish AND tunes coop! Keep slayin them. Love from Galveston bay
Yeah, I tried using Google to identify the music that came on around 1min & 55 seconds in but nothing. What's that tune Thresher?
Who would care what m background music he uses
I don’t know where this version of the song came from, but the original I think is “deathbed” by powfu
Need the name of the song at the very end. "Salte, salte, ya de mi cabeza"

You're one of my faves because of the gentle approach you take to teaching people how to care for fish.
Loved the drone footage at 2:25, Thresher. You always do some cool stuff in your videos. Great eye for the shot.
Love seeing videos of you fishing because it brings back memories from when I lived in corpus Christi and fished
Man Coop! This was great. I know you wanted to use the popping Cork, but nothing beats that top water action. Love it!
So glad you were able to produce some content for us. Loved the drone footage as always. Stay safe!
I noticed your Tshirt. I was a Clark Cougar class of '82.
When Bob Fuston invented the Mansfield Mauler it was a game changer. Used it many a time in the surf and bays. Great video Coop.
Your commentary is GOLD, sir. I totally dig your videos.
Absolutely love the popping cork on the grass flats. Thanks for the great videos.

I'm about convinced we no longer have fishing that good in the Galveston area. I haven't had a day like you had in YEARS.
Great video man editing has gotten sso good keep it up. Can’t wait to get back to the salt and do some wading. Stay safe.

Thank you for the time and sharing.
Great videos.
Very cool song at the end.
We used poppping corks in the 80s they work good when the bite is slow using live shrimp.
Another fun video Cooper.
Awesome. The musica at the end was a nice way to finish!
Gulp shrimp work really good too
Great video !! I throw a top water 90% of the time and love the blow up's
Still the best. Great videos. Near my neighborhood, too.
Nice and sweet! It must be awesome to live on the coast. Go salt every day!
Love the over head shots! Cool!

Solid video, great Tunes Coop
Nice morning you had. I like your floating device, did you make model yourself?
i always love your music choice
Thanks brother.
Why did you say real shrimp wouldn't work with popping cork, just curious. Great video
Best vids on the tube.
Love your videos bro.. The other day I saw your truck parked ... I waited like 4 hours and u still their fishing I had to go to work lol

When in doubt....tie on a popping cork!

Coop that’s a nice looking set up you’re using. What type of rod and bait caster is that?
Im that guy with the 2ft leader.. 😢😭
14richardm same
That's good length. He's referring to a popping cork with dead shrimp on the bottom
All depends on the depth of water being fished
Great video as always! Thank you for sharing. I have a question who sings the song at the end of this video?
I like it. I wanna hear more.

You are so fortunate right now bro. No kids, no mortgage and no college funds. I remember those days cuz.
Nice drone footage
Was that East Matagorda? That water is clear!

Really good video! What drone do you use?
Love your videos and everything you do brother! Keep it up!
Hey man I love the aerial shots of fish! You take all those from your drone?
5:42 never gets old.
Classic rig! Great info bro!
nice video bro. where is that place where you are fishing
Brother nice catches .
Hey Thresher what kind of tackle box do u have not trying to be Nosy
Hi Coop. Huge red so awesome
What type of rod were you using for that topwater you were throwing.
What was that topwater lire you started with? Spoke too fast I couldn’t catch it
Why will the popping cork not work in the jetties and what’s with steel leader? Is that a no no
Threw a popping cork all weekend didn’t so much as get a nibble..but then every time I go to a corpus there are hurricane force winds.. never fails..
Thanks for the video! We needed that!
