They're made for this, absolutely effortless offroad like a true luxury suv. A jimny may be able to match/beat it offroad for less money and be more fun in the process but if you NEED to go offroad nothing beats a landie.
@@tadassmolskas3014bullshit. Any 4x4 live axle truck with lockers is better at off-roading than this suv. It was still impressive on street tires regardless. Can't argue with that
No real surprises here. Landies were born for this. I used to trial them with my Dad. We put a fabulous Rover V8 into a LightWeight chassis that we bought from the RAF. What a hoot that car was!! We were also lucky enough to be invited to a Camel Trophy day with Land Rover. The places those cars got to was just astounding. You should get some decent tyres on Big Pete. Roll cage. Remove the bumpers and other bodywork extras and do some competition offroad trialing with him. Could be a good 2024 series!
Thank you Taylor for the well informed encouragement in getting that up the slopes. These are brilliant offroad despite their size and weight, some AT's would transform it off road and keep the towing ability.
My dad used to drive a Disco 4 and we took it to an offroad day of the Land Rover Club once, and I was so incredibly impressed by the car's capabilities. You can just easily do three-point-turns whilst in 80cm of water in a swamp
Hello boys I've lost my job and was on a downer and was going to do something silly but after seeing you guys it's made me laugh and see life can be fun keep it up 🤗😉
I owned a 2007 Discovery 3 many years ago and loved it. Best city car ever, auto, unkerbable wheels, better turning circle than most superminis, easy to park, and no one would ever park next to me. When off-road though it was unbeatable, I actually won a drag race with a Subaru Impreza WRX on a wet field uphill. Problem was it got old and couldn’t stop needing new parts, although never failed to get me and the family home.
@@carsandstuff365 of course it would, but that wasn’t my point. There is no scenario where a WRX should lose to a 3 ton diesel, but on that day on a wet field the WRX lost, hence my appreciation of my old Disco.
You do find that most 4x4s fail because their drivers don't know what they are doing. The first hill is proof, once they figured it out it just destroyed everything (with road tyres) well done Pete and crew.
Went to the land rover experience with my dad when he got his LR3. What a machinnnnnneeeee!!!! I tried to get it stuck during our canadian winters, couldn't be bothered. Loved that truck!!!!
Best fun you can have on four wheels. I had a Disco 1 V8 and a Disco 2 Td5 a while ago, I used to greenlane the Disco 1 and 'pay and play' the Disco 2 at an old quarry. I'd love to try my Freelander 2 at a site like that.
They may break a lot. I know I had a Land Rover Defender, but the tech they have in them to keep you going off road, as long as it is not broken, is pretty amazing...
Great Video! They are amazingly capable vehicles! If you ever want to get behind the wheel of a V8 manual one then let me know! They're even more fun with over 300bhp, no silencers and a clutch pedal! Keep up the great work!
It's fascinating that Alex has no tolerance for repairs on a lot of cars but will sink endless sums into these garbage BMWs. I had an '11 335is (North American market only) for 6 years (75k miles at the end and absolutely immaculate) before it was knocked off a tow truck and written off. That is the only car I've ever owned that wanted to car the least. It much preferred to strand me or sit in the garage for endless and ridiculous problems.
It's the sunk cost fallacy, makes it hard to move vehicles on when you've spent so much on them already. I also think that (when working) the disco is a great camera car and there aren't many others that provide the same level of flexible space for filming.
@@Project40Cars definitely true. Kept throwing money at my BMW making it perfect, then something else would break/go wrong, then I fixed it again - oh, it’s perfect again. Years and $14k in maintenance and repairs later it was hard to get rid. Then the decision was made for me by a crazy Toyota driver.
I had a D3 and, with Goodyear a/t tyres it more than held it's own on sites like that. I'd have one again in a heartbeat if I could afford to run one! ❤❤
I once tried doing this in a bmw suv and well... the Land Rover was also very good at pulling bmw's out of offroad courses while driving in the mud too lol xD. Yes Land Rovers are not massively reliable, heavy and annoying to repair sometimes not gonna lie they are nice to drive off road.
Hi Alex I’m sure I just heard tyrestreetuk say they will give you a set of big knobblys so you can go back there and just in time for the snow ❄️ 😅😂✌️❤️
Hard disagree. IMO the Ford Takeover ruined them. Too many cooks in the designs, engines that didn’t fit design philosophy. The dire engines that were put in these was a Ford unit too.
Get another vw. Transporter.... You can do a door window swap...to the speed ca camera style and fit it out captains seat in the back....pulse diesel heater....so have a fridge for the milkshake storage.....etc....and save money let Rory sleep in her....
I can see the reality of owning a Landy out of warranty is slowly starting to sink in 😂, just slowly killing it to pretend like the bills aren't there 😅😂😂.

Slightly biased as I've had mine for over 10 years now but there aren't many cars you can go 7 adults up on a proper road trip at motorway cruising speeds, fridge in the centre console, off road like that and still polish up nicely enough to get you anywhere without looking out of place. They might need looking after but they do lots of jobs really well, when many cars only do one or two.
I wonder if behind the scenes the chat is: Taylor: lets fix up Big Pete to sell for the most money we can. Alex: let's smash it up offroad and bung it off cheap

Taylors reaction to nearly going off the edge is priceless, absolutely hilarious. You made my day.
