I bought this exact same top box from a retailer on Amazon. Paid $250aud delivered to 5000. Unfortunately it was damaged in shipping and took three weeks of messaging and complaints logged to Amazon to get a refund once I returned it, but never telling me how to reclaim my return postage. I eventually got a response from the retailer who just said “refund processed, keep the box!”. It’s still usable but the dent doesn’t inspire me that it will last too well in the event of a fall. Thanks for the feedback mate, sorry to hear your woes. Typical, customer service is all over you to get the order then gives the runabout if there's an issue!
Thank you for the heads up! I'm looking at the version without the X bevel stamped on the sides for around €114 incl. shipping from a European warehouse. You gave me all the necessary warnings! A word of advice to you about the bungee cord; do it on both sides. IF it slides out of the 4 slots completely, it will most likely pivot around the point where you attached it and probably fall over and whack your exhaust end can or rear tire. I find it a good idea and will use the same tactic! My friend has a motea version of it, which has a lit that can come fully off. On of the bars tore off, that you explained locks the box to the adapter plate, and almost knocked me off the bike whilst I drove behind him. Now he uses a tiewrap on one side to just open the box on one side. Chinesium quality, we love the price but we need to live with the possible consequences😂
I've bought TONS of stuff from Aliexpress. Never been badly surprised. Some of the stuff I've been pleasantly surprised. For instance the heated grips I got from them were $12 and they're better in EVERY way than the $80 Oxford heated grips that I had on my bike before. I have them on two bikes now for two years and still no problems at all. I've bought many other things there as well, motorcycle and other tech, no trouble.

Hello from germany 😉 Great video. Thanks for that! I'm actually an avowed top case hater, but I'm still dealing with the topic. Through extensive research into what the market has to offer, I can say the following: This and others that are absolutely identical and produced in China and different suppliers label them for their needs, i.e. for sale. They called Kemi Moto, Bagtecs, LesanM, Fydun, Kimiss, and so on. The design is the same, including and above all the interior lining, which at first appears to be hand-sewn and yet gives an appealing impression. The interior is completely missing from the premium manufacturers, for example, I'm thinking of Shad and/or Givi, Kappa. I know from Kappa that it is the “cheap rail” from Givi and that material has been saved here and there, but that doesn’t mean that it is bad. And these suitcases from China here, I would like to say the same thing. You just have to know why you need something like that. If you travel a lot and need a lot of volume, you will definitely choose other manufacturers (SW, H+B, etc.). But if you need a little storage space to store rain gear, daily food (water 0.5l), your drone, wallet or other stuff, this case is definitely a good choice because it's a cheap and acceptable solution. Those under brackets should turn the other way around. From what i see 2 can be turned the other way but 2 are more dificult. If i buy this topcase i will build two inverted brackets.
I just can't get to pass this out of my mind... "WHY THE F..K DON'T THEY INVERT THOSE UNDER PLATES?!?" So the box would slide from front to back. Even if it got loose it would stay on the rack. Don't forget the passenger will do some force with his back on the box. Is it because of the height of some bike seats?!? I am no engineer just gain some bush/swamp/island skills over te years and i just can't swallow that fabrication. I will take those rivets out and invert those fixation plates. Some of these boxes the lock plates are on the flat bottom side, but these are worse to revert. Two are easy but 2 will have to be bent. These boxes are available everywhere, Aliexpress, Taobao, etc. Kemimoto doesn't make them, they are just one of the (earlier? few?) resellers for the western market. Depending on the "brand" or the reseller, you'll have a 2~5x markup price. These plattforms are, well, platforms. Just like Amazon. Good and bad sellers there. Everyday people are scammed by Amazon sellers, that doesn't make Amazon a scam. And yeah, you mentionned "common sense". Not saying you lack some of it, but they are technically right. The product works as intended, you just installed it wrong, although it has no instructions. That's the trade off of these products. Don't buy them from a reseller that's just a fake brand, and the price and product you paid for will make more sense and be acceptable.

Those under brackets should turn the other way around. From what i see 2 can be turned the other way but 2 are more dificult. If i buy this topcase i will build two inverted brackets.
Great video. But wouldn’t expect anything else out of China. Ride safe buddy
Chinesium Alloy!
Another gob sh*the. Get over yourselves. Everything is made in china and made according to the money someone is willing to pay
Great review! S-o knoing this, would you buy thi topcase again? I am asking this, cause I consider to buy one.
Probably not, but just given the lack of a Kemi Moto's interest in customer. It was all negative, but it hurts to be honest
@@theboomerangbiker1966 ok, s-o I guess rather pay more and get a good one. I will go for Shad 58x.
I received today.Exactly the same.The box is 100% plastic.
@@spiroskaltsoukalas9692 and smells of chemicals?
Hope i am not dilusional as the guy that made that box, I WILL USE LOCTITE ON EVERY SINGLE SCREW!!!
@mikefreitas1331 that's a great idea, but you would need to take the rear seat off to remove the box as the box is lower, but no big deal!
@@theboomerangbiker1966 i bought a 45L box that's fairly simple to turn it around. Just installed it on my 450MT and the fixing plate leaves room to take it out without taking the seat off. Bua as you said it's no big deal to do.
Geez, looks like it needs to be returned! Ill keep my Givi top box.
They're not interested mate!
You are totally in order.
Don’t hate on the crocks!!! 😂
Ha ha, one day I may come out of the Crocs closet!
"Watch before you buy" means that, basically, you shouldn't. Is it what you meant?
No, it means watch before you buy and then make up your own mind rather than being a sheep. And... my little hacks may save you suffering the same issues
Decent review but about 16 minutes too long and you never opened the box.
There's a whole skit around opening the box, the smell of chemicals and the interior looking like a gangsta crib? You didn't see that?
Yeah well, I support you about the entire experience and totally get where you are coming from. But do you not agree with the saying "you get what you paid for" ? It is good money as you said, but nowhere near OEM top case from BMW or any other aftermarket manufacturer. In fact, now that I know the risk, I still might go for it, just lower the expectations, it's 3-4 times cheaper than OEM. Thanks for the vid!
Yep, that old saying is still valid, probably now more than ever. Just be sure to add the safety device and some decent nuts and bolts.
@@theboomerangbiker1966 yep, thanks for the hint, will do so. By the way, do you think the plate will fit a standard rack (K50, non-adventure)
@@Selianin1 most probably
105 bucks now and 50 buck shipping. I still think its pricey for what u get. Looks like a bunnings storage box. Thanks for your review. No thanks 😅😅😅
@@kangacrew540 Agreed, it's an ugly looking thing. Can't wait for the Lone Rider MotoCase to arrive...
No problemo mate...
no worries!
Great review mate
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback...
@20cent I didn't install it wrong mate, if there's no instructions then there can't be a right or wrong way. I'm an engineer and I tightened the bolts up to what I thought was an acceptable torque but was worried about shearing them as they're chinesium alloy 😉 Anyway, the piece of junk motocase is in my rear view mirror (pun intended) sd the awesome new MotoCase just arrived from Lone Rider. Review to follow...!
The smell is COVID aftershave/perfume
@Getting-On Ha ha, wish I'd thought of that for the video!
@@theboomerangbiker1966 you can do the sniff test on the next China Purchase, put on the mask and gloves for added drama.
Great Review thanks
Thanks. Not gonna purchase lol
@@jnorm0075 I wouldn't either!
