Glad to see that you’re back. Honest talk will take you far. And a big congratulations on quitting smoking. Those who have never smoked for years doesn’t understand the hold it has on you. I started smoking at age 15 two packs+ a day for 35 years. I, like most; half heartedly tried to quit numerous times but never made it past a day or two at most. Finally on my 50th birthday i gave myself the best gift ever and I quit for good and here I am at 67 and haven’t looked back. I did have a prescription for Chantix which is a mind altering drug that has some wild side effects like the most real vivid nightmares and I’m not one to have dreams or nightmares. It’s such a crazy drug that people in jobs like law enforcement, airline pilots, and other similar jobs are prohibited from using it because it’s also known to help those who are predisposed to leaving earth early and those with high intense stressful jobs maybe act out in a bad way. The way the drug is supposed to work is it helps your mind help you to accomplish something like quitting smoking if it’s in your mind to do it. Hence why it can also have bad effects so is why its use is restricted. Anyways, congratulations on giving your life and body a chance at a much healthier life. And, the phlegm eventually clears up for the most part but I still have gunk to get out most mornings when I wake up but then I’m ok the rest of the day. It seriously took me a couple of years to mostly go away. Enjoy yourself being back.
I didn’t finish the prescription of chantix because half way through I was confident that I beat smoking. I also made several changes to help me. Before retiring young at the age of 53 I was a very high level manager for the U.S. Postal Service so I had the power to change the location of my office. I changed the way I drove to work. Stopped going out to any place I associated with smoking. I had a big two feet high jar that I put 10 $1 bills in every day to remind me of the money I was saving. I just changed my whole daily routine for awhile until I was sure. I knew I kicked the habit when I decided to go out to a bar with a friend to watch football and drink. I made it through a whole football game and 6 or so beers and didn’t even think of smoking a cigarette. It was at that point that I was sure. Keep going and don’t look back.
Great advice Nelson. I always enjoy your videos because you don't sugar coat anything like a lot of expat vloggers over there. Glad you quit smoking as well my friend. 12 more weeks till the wife and I are back to her home near Dumaguete for a month with our 2 boys. We live in Southeastern BC and like yourself, we are so done with winter here in Canada. Looking forward to your next video. I hope you and your lady can start to get out and explore more of the country and create some amazing content. Such a beautiful place. Cheers.
Is this guy stoned? It's not the contents of your character, its the contents of your wallet. Like any poor country, they need and you have its that simple.
Any country at all.... if you don't know how to hunt they ain't going to have you. That means today you have to come with enough money to buy some food dude. Provide a cave and protect it. It's always been that way. At least in the philippines unlike the usa you don't have to mortgage yourself to hell to achieve this.
My first time going to the Philippines to meet my wife (LDR girlfriend at the time) was a real wake up call. I quickly learned that I had/have nothing to complain about. Filipinos, at least the ones I know, don't have "hang ups" like many of us westerners do and to me, that's such a relief. 2 months to go until we're together again.🇺🇸👨👩👧🇵🇭
I hope it works out for you, I looked at your channel. Your like this guy, newbies with little experience of the Filipino..you’ll have a baptism of fire coming your way fella.
There will be bumps..but...Filipinas don't often use the tools western women do. But they will bite down hard on things every so often..tread gently and all will be fine. Not all tampo is silent.
as always decent advice. very correct on going slow after a western train wreck. content of character certainly counts, but dress up and act calmly, outward appearances count alot in asian societies where respect and face are essential. from what i see younger pinays with middle class aspirations tend to be aggressive and acquisitive, which is a bad sign. requests for financial aid are a dangerous slope. relax and start slow, but don’t be afraid to cross the pacific for a looksee and restart, and not just in the philippines.
@RetiredArmy2012 I'm sorry to hear your back is not good, but it's great that you're living your dream and you found a beautiful girl who accepts your limitations. I have back issues too that affect every aspect of my life and I wonder if it's possible to find a nice girl there who would be accepting of my limitations due to pain.
Compared to the USA,...most things are 1/3 to 1/5th the cost....BUT....any luxury items can be the same as the USA....including American staples like Heinz Ketchup, Lays. Potatoes chips, Campbell's soup. Etc. So it's up to you. Lean hamburger is about $4 or $5 a pound. I pay $90 US for a 2 bedroom newer apt with AC in the main bedroom... windows on 3 sides, so no AC is required most of the time. It can be more... depending on where you want to hang your hat.
@ Nelson, whet part are you in? Am I welcome to visit that area? I just want to come visit and check it out. Before I decide to sell my home, business and everything else. But I’d love to get out of the states for a while.
Yes i cannot impress how important it is to make damn sure before you flush your present life, that this is the answer you've been looking for. But there's a thousand different options in the philippines big city small town up in the mountains down by the beach whatever lifestyle you want it's available here.
