  • The Kalmyk Loop makes a great end of line loop knot, but I personally prefer to use the Imitation Slipped Bowline: • Imitation Slipped Bowl... One problem that I have with the Kalmyk Loop is that if the knot is dressed incorrectly, you can end up with a dangerous knot! However, if you understand the how to dress the knot correctly, then you will find this to be a very useful knot.
The Kalmyk Loop is often used by bushcrafters as this loop knot is very easy to tie and as it is slipped, it is extremely easy to untie. It is possibly an alternative to the Bowline?

*Remote Release Lift Hitch* have you seen or tried this one yet? ruclips.net/video/4q-WPaCQAZs/видео.html

I was just thinking about that one. As I had been playing with the kids. For the life of me I couldn't remember how to make the half a sheepshank.
BTW, my daughter loves knotting. She's only 4 and still unable to grasp some of the concepts.
Do you know some simpler knots that I can teach her to start with? She's been going crazy trying Everything up including her "babies". Lol

@@finnmacky7106 Mmm, I wonder................ Perhaps the Marlin Spike hitch, as it turns into many other knots. This is a rather old video, but you will see how this one hitch turns into many other knots: ruclips.net/video/3r2UjaV8SVg/видео.html Or maybe, she will teach you 😉 😉 😉

Hey Bro, I just now found your channel recently. I can appreciate why you you have preferred short form content in the current condition of youtube . But I will say I really enjoyed your longer explanations and the stories/histories of the knots and "what knot" that I have seen from your back log of videos. I hope to see more, God bless.

I do plan to do longer ones soon, just building up the library for the shorter versions. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.

I've saw many videos of quick kalmyk loop metod but those could not help me to learn it. After this video i totally understand how!

I would just learn how to tighten it the wrong way. Watch what happens if you tighten it using the left hand side of the loop and the standing part. Once you know the error and how to avoid it, this makes an excellent loop knot.

Thanks for your videos, but this particular knot may be the worst of all. Confusing. Nearly every video has a different method of tying...

I am not a massive fan of this knot, and yes there does seem to be a few ways of tying it. My go-to slipped fixed loop knot is, the Imitation Slipped Bowline: ruclips.net/video/-ZsPYA9aaGE/видео.html

That's crazy! Thank you! I wonder which is more secure the Kalmyk or the Ivensk? 🤔
I think you may have to do a comparison. 👍🏻

I have not heard of the Invensk, I wonder if you mean the Evenk Hitch?

Nicely done. Thank you. BTW, our six weeks of autumn is half over. Three weeks ago, our high temp was about 39°C. Within three weeks, we can expect first frost. And the first freeze comes before October's end. Autumn is nice, but I wish it were longer.

For us it is usually much slower, Christmas is usually cold and wet. January and February can be rather raw though. Good times for learning more knots 😉 😉 😉

Have you tried the spear knot? I find it easier and quicker than the kalmyk loop.
