Most assumed they were Dept of Energy drones inspecting the surrounding geography, but I don't remember what the exact outcome was. But the "we don't know whose these are" line is a total lie, because they haven't been shot down. More like "everybody who knows doesn't want to say."

Using drones as a smokescreen to hide the other craft entering our atmosphere. There seems to be a mix of what is obviously normal commercial drones, and something else that doesnt need refueling or recharging and doesn’t move like normal drones.
Imagine for a second that they really don't know what these drones are; that is very scary if you think about it, because it could easily be hundreds of chinese or russian drones releasing toxic gas or some sort of biochemical weapon, and apparently nobody can stop them.

That would be an insanely dangerous thing to do for several reasons. If one gets hit, it could end up crashing into an establishment down below with people in it. Keep in mind these things are the size of cars, they aren't small. Second, if some of these things have an aggressive "defense mechanism" built into them where they will retaliate in a very aggressive way if aggression is shown towards them, this can result in people below getting hurt. I imagine that right now they are attempting to see if they can handle this situation in the least aggressive and most peaceful way possible to avoid anyone below getting caught in a violent fiasco.

Well, this is a tough subject to explain so layman term is best. I bet we find out in 2 days, looks like holidays and gov busy yadda yadda.. That would be an insanely dangerous thing to do for several reasons. If one gets hit, it could end up crashing into an establishment down below with people in it. Keep in mind these things are the size of cars, they aren't small. Second, if some of these things have an aggressive "defense mechanism" built into them where they will retaliate in a very aggressive way if aggression is shown towards them, this can result in people below getting hurt. I imagine that right now they are attempting to see if they can handle this situation in the least aggressive and most peaceful way possible to avoid anyone below getting caught in a violent fiasco.

@DevJB I doubt there would be bright flashing lights if it was something intentionally dangerous. The point of the flasing lights seems similar to lights on a boat at night. If there was a danger, I doubt we would even see it coming. Then again, Americans love bright flashy objects. We are a stupid country, for sure, lol.

Does anyone remember the “spy weather balloons”? Turned out they actually were Weather Balloons that got away from the ones controlling them. If those flying whatevers were actually something dangerous, do you honestly believe that they would be flying around with lights on for everyone to see? There is no way that they don't know what these drones are or who is flying them. They just don't want to say. If it was really an unknown, there would have been teams of people with guns or drones sent to intercept / shoot one down to examine it. I mean how hard would it be to bring one down? They just don't do it because they know it's them flying it. The real question is why they refuse to say what they are doing with the drones.
