The Long Black Veil is an album we all should buy. In addtion to Van the Man,there are other great guests like The Rolling Stones, Sting, Mick Jagger, Sinead O´Connor, Mark Knopfler, Ry Cooder, Tom Jones.
Great recording 👍🎈
Sinead O’ Connor’s “He moved through the fair” …can’t put into words. Indescribable. For anyone who has not heard it…..might move you to tears.
I play this for my wife whenever she is having a bad day or needs some support, she knows I always have been there for her,but to reinforce that with VM who happens to be her favorite singer always helps and after 40 plus years of marriage 3 daughters 5 grand kids and a great grand kid on the way I need all the help I can get sometimes to help her.
That's absolutely beautiful and I'm so happy for your relationship .
Let me add a little story of my own , whenever my wife was feeling amorous she would sing this to me and that would bring a big smile to my face
because I knew where this was heading . Cancer took her away from me and words could not describe how much I miss her .
Take care and be safe ..T
This is the best version of the song. I LOVE the sound of the celtic instruments combined with Morrison's voice. A Masterpeace!
there is a live version with sinead o'connor that surpasses this one slightly

Absolutely brilliant ❤️🔥☘️🇮🇪
I will play this on my wedding day. It will be forever our anniversary "love dance" song as long as we live. What an OUTSTANDING touch to such a happy and beautiful day. A duet of vocals and timeless, musical instruments will stop the world from turning for 4 min 41 seconds, and remind us of the love we share. Thank you so very much Van Morrison & The Chieftains!
I’m seven years late...hope it went well!
@@chr970I was 20yrs early, this duet hadn’t been performed yet! 31yrs ago our wedding song(in spite of Rod Stewart’s version just gaining popularity. I do hope @Rocit2Nowair that it was a lovely day!
I believe you can't get any better than this. This Grand Guy of Song has graced us with gifts of beautiful, musical compositions like no other. In my mind, I stand in the lush, vivid shamrock green fields of Ireland. With the wind blowing slightly off the ocean, I "tip" my hat and bow to Van Morrison and The Chieftains you guys are marvelous.
The phrasing is sublime, the emotions it brings are incredible!
I remember first hearing this song at 10 years old. Looking out the window while mom was driving, looking at nature and the trees passing by. When times were so simple. Going back to this song always cures my sadness.
I understand soooo much your comment ! :) My experience is different (it was twenty-two years ago, and I was twenty-six years old, and I heard this song in a car that was driven by my best friend, a childhood friend, and it was a rainy evening), but I go back to this song once in a while just to remember how this friendship was important in my heart that day and how it is still important now... :)
One of those fantastic songs you don’t want to end. “Great Job.” 😉
This song always brings me to tears. Without fail.
I live in Japan, I have been looking for Van Morison's disk, but I cann(t

@ilkka1983 oh AMEN to that. I have it and it is a thing of Beauty. Did any of ya'll see Van and Chieftains play this on Letterman with Sinead O'Connor many years ago? Talk about a performance! Truly one of the best Late Night Letterman music moments. If you only hear the audio, seek it out on the Internet and listen to it. Ye shall not be disappointed! xo
*What an incredible blessing when you can really feel this in your heart with your missing piece - J.A.M. :-)
His best version of this song is this one with the Chieftains
Es cierto solo Van puede reinventarse a si mismo en sus versiones
I fully agree.
Pure class
💚💚
Van Morrison こそカントリーであり、プレスリーであり、センチメンタルなんだ。

음악이 당신 마음대로 부른는구나 그러나 어떻게 부럴도 법도를 벗어나지 않으니
당신의 음악의 매스터이구나
🔥❤️🌹👏🏻🍀
favolosa
Beautiful version, the best with no doubt. But what the hell is it in connection with the picture of the virgin or religion?
Grow up. think. pray. then you'll understand.
It's the mystery of Faith. Nothing in hell can be created with such beauty..
It's from Van Morrison's Avalon Sunset album which has a religious theme....
Van began turning much of his music to reflect his deep faith.
This song, like so many great songs by him...and other artists, is as much a reflection upon their deeply held beliefs as it is a potent song of love.
I believe Van may have stated that, for him, it is more the first.
