Hello Fellow Christians, I pray that you all had a blessed and prosperous week. I am excited to bring you one of my favorite bible stories. King Josiah finds the the scroll of laws and called for a time of national repentance. The Laws was read to the people of the land, and a covenant was made between the people and the Lord to turn back to God.
I think an important part of the account was left out. I read this some months ago. If i remember correctly, it was the northern tribes that went up to fight against the Egyptians or assyrians, and they were very wicked, and God was going to use their enemies to punish them. The king of Israel asked Josiah, king of judah for help. And he helped him. God warned him through a prophet not to join in because His judgment was upon the north. Josiah did not heed and eventually took part in the punishment that was not originally meant for him. Probably in part because he feared to see his enemies grow in size, but he should not have tried to intervene in God's punishment of the north, and join himself to wicked men. He seemed to me to be a righteous king mostly but in the end made a fatal mistake. The great thing about the Bible is it also includes the mistakes and sins of its main characters and authors and not just accomplisments, unlike many other religious books. In this we know that the testimony is true, when a man will tell the truth of his own failures and glorify God rather than himself.

3.17 to 3.37 ---- whole lot of executions, then a whole bunch of animal sacrifice. Great ideas for a stable, scientific, civic rights-minded society 😄
