Depending on the State's law. Some are Right to work States, some are not. In some states you can be terminated just because your no longer needed. If they designate a reason, (poor work, missed days, etc.), they better have a lot of proof and be ready for a possible lawsuit.
Also there are discrimination factors, which people can't be fired for.

I'm pro-life and I believe she shouldn't have gotten fired. This woman is conservative in pretty much every other way, and she's allowed to have outlying opinions. If everyone were honest with themselves and actually researched both sides (instead of whatever opinion is loudest or sounds nice at first glance), they would have mixed political opinions too.
She doesn't have the right to a job at The Blaze, and if she holds an opinion that is at odds with who she works for, (a political talk show), they can say that she can no longer work there. She has the right to freedom of speech, but if she works for a site or cause that wants her to promote a certain point of view and being paid for it, then the employer can fire her if she doesn't. She is free to leave and start her own political site. When you are an employee, you are required to do what you were hired for.
